I’d rather Voges than Bailey in the ODI squad atm.

Forget the captaincy, who will replace Clarke as a batsman?

…and Klinger 🙂 Hogan impressed me last season. I’ve warmed to Voges. Hartley should be in this ODI team on the back of his Matador Cup. Haddin has lost his mojo. Wade never had mojo.

Also last year North was DOMINATING in shield, it was ridiculous.. why would you not at least add him to the squad on the back of such blistering form. It was too red hot to dismiss, I don’t care about his past tenure in the AUS team. Hughes was selected on form.. North’s form was 3 times as good. Bloody selectors.

Forget style and T20 form, just pick the blokes who score first-class runs

I was on the Rogers hatewagon after UAE but you can’t argue with his shield ton yesterday, he has to stay. I’m sold… for the moment 😛 He has the form and the recent international exposure that Hughes doesn’t have.

Given how lazy the selectors are Hughes will probably just slot into Clarke’s position. Given how predictable the selectors are Siddle will be dropped for Hazelwood but the rest of the bowlers will stay the same (Starc injury dependant).

As always a Klinger, Burns, Ferguson, or Cooper would do great in this spot and I’d probably pick all of those ahead of Hughes as they have been playing (and in form) the whole time Hughes has been a spectator on tours of SAF and UAE.

Hamstrung Clarke may miss entire series against India

I’m of the opinion that Watto should go now, too many LBW’s, can’t bowl much.. Marsh has taken the torch.

I like him but Watto seems like he has some batting to offer sometimes but not often enough.

I’d be inclined to pick Klinger or Ferguson in that no. 3 spot, and Cooper or Burns at 4.

I’d like Sayers in the squad but you’d think Hazelwood/Harris will get in there. Starc will probably start. I”d probably put in O’Keefe over Lyon, I’m getting bored of Lyon.

Rogers secures Test spot with Shield ton for Vics

Huh? Ferguson hasn’t played Test Cricket! He was only left out of the ODI squad due to a long term injury.

Burns is almost there, almost, I’m starting to put him in my fantasy squads.

I don’t have a drama with picking a player for a test series then reassessing form of the team, and the shield before the next test to make sure we have the best, in form, mix of players.

You can’t discount players like Hartley or Klinger that are performing right now, we’ve made too many mistakes with youngsters. It’s time to put in dependable players rather than long term prospects.

Rogers secures Test spot with Shield ton for Vics

When we spit out performances like this, it reinforces the fact that I cannot barrack for the AUS team.

The selectors just don’t pick the best players. It’s embarrasing, frustrating, and saddening.

If Warner is in the team, Finch shouldnt be.

If Mitch Marsh is in the team, Watson shouldn’t be.

Matthew Wade should never again be selected, he gets more chances in the team than he drops in the field.

The only Matador Cup player rewarded for form was Hazelwood, who we already know is lucky enough to have selector bias. A Pitiful score of 150 in an ODI should result in violent axe swinging, the batsmen selected have not performed.

Hartley not being in the AUS ODI team on the back of his proper keeping and being 3rd highest run scorer in Matador is a travesty!

Aussies thrashed by Proteas in second ODI

hehe! Experienced, reliable, effective, still in form.

There is no way he wouldn’t do better than Bailey, Doolan, and Smersh!

Cosgrove’s tenure at TAS should’ve netted him a test spot last year imo, he isn’t the irrational slogger he once was (although he still favours boundaries over running).

The picking of people on “potential” “physique” “selector fanboyism” is infuriating.

Seeing our performance in the last ODI just makes me angry, the selectors don’t select the best team so I don’t consider myself a fan of the national team. I just go for the Redbacks and hope the selectors stop ignoring the consistent players in the shield.

Forget style and T20 form, just pick the blokes who score first-class runs

Finch is flaky. Simple. Like Maxwell I’m unsure he should be in anything but T20’s. Maxwell’s off spin might keep him his ODI spot though.

Finch’s spot under pressure from White

I’m warming to him, but not convinced he is quite there. don’t want to put him in too early and have another Khawaja-like situation.

Rogers and Hughes to duel for Test spot

Oops, Yeah, M.Marsh has earned some of my time. He’ll go at 6.

Forget the captaincy, who will replace Clarke as a batsman?

Hilfy has been in the Aussie squad so I havent seen him play lately. I automatically assume a player without recent game time will be rusty. Hilfy already being in the squad should get precedence really I suppose, as should Hughes.

They were put in the squad due to good form.. sure that good for is half a year in the past now but 2 year old form is good enough to get Doolan into the test squad! lol.

Leading Shield quicks ready to knock over Sidds and Starc (Part 1)

Hartley, Ludeman, Whiteman.. in that order. Neville has completely flown under my radar I’m afraid so I have no opinion of him.

Rogers and Hughes to duel for Test spot

Nice banter there Don and Bear, you guys seem to know your stuff, apart from domestic bias (like me pushing Klinger last year!)

Rogers and Hughes to duel for Test spot

Amusing, but possibly a smart strategy.

Forget the captaincy, who will replace Clarke as a batsman?

I’d cop that team. If Harris is out injured, Sayers!.. and make Klinger 13th man 😉

Rogers and Hughes are pretty much interchangeable and Rogers has actually been playing whereas Hughes has been on the sidelines, deadpan. Hughes came good in the latter testmatches over in India the other year, I’d trust him, one last time.

My Australian XI for the first Test in Brisbane

I’d put Hartley in ahead of Ludes at this stage, but I’m revving up my keyboard war to get Ferg in the team, and I’ve been rattling on about Klinger for a couple of years now xD

Burns has almost gotten my thumbs up of approval, I will decide at the end of this season. I wouldn’t be disappointed if they put him in the squad lets put it that way.

Leg spinners lay down the challenge to Nathan Lyon

Yeah! That’s right!

People tell me he is old, his first class average isn’t high enough, he doesn’t have as big a shot repertoire, etc.. but I keep barking back that he has hit a consistent vein of form, doesn’t throw his wicket away (unlike most of the brainfade hotshots they keep selecting) has experience, has captained successful state sides at the Redbacks, has plundered county runs in the recent past.

If Bailey can make the side on the back of flat track bullying in India.. Klinger deserves a go, he is STILL making runs for WA (century yesterday, matching winning innings in Matador cup).

The evidence in favour of selecting Klinger outweighs evidence to the contrary.

Forget the captaincy, who will replace Clarke as a batsman?

Hughes got added to the squad after a string of dominant shield performances last season. He has tagged along to 2 tours now without getting a game, people like Doolan and Marsh, the flakiest of the flakes getting starts and he doesnt.. its shocking.

I know Hughes has had his chances though. As has Khawaja.

Put in Callum Ferguson, Chris Hartley, Chadd Sayers, and either NCN or Dorff if Starc is injured. Out goes Clarke, Haddin, Siddle.. and a possibly injured Starc. Klinger 12th man.

Watson is on thin ice too with his injuries and LBW vulnerability, even though I still have a soft spot for him.

– Rogers, Warner, Watson, Ferguson, Smith, Hartley, Johnson, Starc, Lyon and Sayers! –

I would be happy with that team! My unrealistic fantasy team of today is (Klinger, Warner, Burns, Ferguson, Smith, Ludeman, Johnson, Behrendorff, Zampa and Sayers)

Forget the captaincy, who will replace Clarke as a batsman?

Yep. Just lazy, ignoring form. Put in O’Keefe, or Zampa, or even gamble on Boyce! Doherty throws darts, but O’Keefe throws way more successful darts.

A lot of gobbies must be going round when it comes to some of these selections. Maddinson in the T20 team the other day? Wade back in the ODI team? It’s an absolute joke. Shaun Marsh is the worst joke of all.

They blatantly ignore Hartleys country dominating ODI form and put in a guy that keeps getting suspended for being a dick and plays cricket like my 75 year old grandpa.

I also think Having both Finch and Warner in the same team is a bit lame, if you have Warner there is no reason to have Finch and vice versa. At least Cummins looked “decent” in the recent T20’s, there is a form reason for putting him in the squad.

Xavier Doherty gets Aussie ODI call-up

I wasn’t able to make it to the ground last night. I was there the night before though where not a lot happened!

Kinda glad I missed witnessing that all too familiar Redbacks capitulation, but for some strange reason I’m happy Ludeman managed to stick around for 120 balls trying to salvage a draw. Needs to progress from flash in the pan slogger if he wants to get higher honours.

I feel for the next match they might shake up the squad a bit. Valente will probably get a red cap. Cosgrove might come in too. Still really disappointed that neither Coops or Ferg got runs in that second innings.

I was almost ready to put Cooper ahead of Klinger in my AUS Test fantasy team!

O'Keefe stars as NSW beat South Australia in Shield

Hughes
Warner
Watson, I mean Klinger, I mean Watson.
Clarke
Smith
M.Marsh
Hartley
Johnson
Starc
Sayers
Lyon
O’Keefe 12th man if Lyon is shite.

Picking the Australian XI for Brisbane (part I)

Vintage Redbacks. We have one of the better shield teams this season but when 3 of your 4 best bats get a duck.. that goes out the window.

This game was all about the spinners, Botha got 9 wickets for the match.

O'Keefe stars as NSW beat South Australia in Shield

the stench of burning hamstrings and inconsistency.

Marsh ton puts WA in strong position against Queensland

Why in the hell was Maddinson in the team? What has he done to get picked? .. and don’t sprout stats from 3 years ago like people do with Doolan. I was completely speechless when I saw Maddinson made the team over so many more worthy cricketers.

What a joke. Disgusted.

Happy that Cameron White is succeeding.

Is Cameron White in for a vintage summer?

Botha only hogged the ball because he was taking wickets.

Last match Zampa did well, as he also did in Matador.

I’ve watched plenty of Botha’s bowling and I don’t see the issue with his action to be honest.
