Yep Fionn, mate who works with me pays $1100-$1200 a years fees for his 2 sons to play soccer, and I believe $5 a game for refs fees each game. And that seems to be norm talking to others, though I think 5-8 years are somewhat cheaper.

The Wrap: What can Australian rugby learn from Grant Fox?

While not a Chuckles supporter by any means, unfortunately in a game like rugby the Coach really needs to be the head of selection panel, because surely he sets the way the tem plays, so he really needs to be able to have the players that he believes are going to play it. So I think he either goes completely or it stays the same, half doing things aren’t going to fix much at all!

Rein in Cheika selection power: Cannon

Akari if the guest was Rob Horne they wouldn’t of broken team rules, you see they not allowed to take WOMEN to rooms.

Beale and Ashley-Cooper stood down after breaching team protocol

Agree Dave, something not smelling right here>

Beale and Ashley-Cooper stood down after breaching team protocol

I think you may of misread it Rhys, Hansen didn’t say playing the Wallabies was bringing ABs down, was asked if playing them brought them down and he seems to of said they a good team, but not quite right at moment. I have seen nowhere he has blamed Wallabies, and neither do I think he should or would.

Nathan Grey hits back at Steve Hansen's claims about Australian rugby

Agree completely John, I also think we are seeing teams improve rather than the ABs going backwards. Probably with exception of Wallabies I think most Tier 1 nations have really improved in coaching etc, so have closed the gap to where it should be ie; no team like the ABs are guaranteed of winning tests,or WCs anymore. Very similar to what happend at end of 80s where the ABs dominated everything, only then it was Wallabies thet were the team to lead the chase.

The Barrett dilemma

I actually think that is the best I have seen an All Black team play and still lose, no way were they that poor, the Irish were very very good!

'They're the number one team in the world': Hansen's classy praise for Ireland

To be fair Fionn, I a Mounga fan, but I didn’t think he made a huge difference, although the AB forwards were getting on top just before he came on.

Coming for the cup? Irish knock off New Zealand 16-9

Corne you have no idea how much I enjoy reading such a well thought out and balanced article. And I couldn’t agree more ,although I was cheering for the Boks, there is no way Gus Gardiner cost them the test, it was unfortunately lost by the Boks in the 10 minutes they were up a man, as you rightfully pointed out ,they made some bad mistakes both in actions and decisions, and then seemed to drop their heads a bit. It kind follows what I keep saying, not sure I have seen a ref ever cost a team a test, as usually the losing team makes a lot more mistakes than the ref!

Taking the referee out of the equation

I wondered that too Neil, I see no difference to either team over the weather or ground, the Poms have played some bloody good open rugby of late!

The Hedgehog defends his hedge against the Fox as England host the Springboks

I surprised about Abel missing out too, and bloody stunned noone has signed Olmstead the Canadian player, there is still a bit of talent to be contracted as back up players I think!

Former Rebels number ten headlines New Zealand Super Rugby squads

Agree Gloria, I know a number who made sure they went to Souths games this season to see Quade play. I will also add I was at my own club ( not a premier club) and we had Souths at home, and there was Quade supporting his club’s lower grade teams, and it actually something I have seen in other years. I not a Quade fan, but to say he didn’t attract people to rugby is just stupid, and to see the number of people approaching him after games was great , in the 3 club games I saw him play,I know he never left the field to get to sheds for at least 20-30 minutes after rest of team. there can be no argument about him being very good for club rugby in Brisbane this year, or about his apparent enjoyment of mixing with fans etc!

Quade Cooper joins Melbourne Rebels on one-year deal

Well mjseesred, I like the ideas you have, I know we can all find some reason why something couldn’t or wouldn’t work, but it good to see well thought out ideas that some people have. And I have to say it great to know that there are people who have positive ideas, and not just try to tell us what wrong with what we have now! Keep it up, makes it even more worthwhile coming into ROAR! As you can see by comment, I still getting my head around the whole thing, but in general I like it.

Why Australia should spearhead a Pacific future for rugby

Ranger is going to play for the Sunwolves next year, so doubt he would get picked even if he is good enough, which I don’t really think he is. Really like him as Mitre 10 player but not sure he good enough to show out any higher.

All Blacks confirm squad for Bledisloe 3, Spring Tour

Lol ya could be right Neutral, I also wonder if Akira had it too easy as a big young fella coming through grades and having trouble realising how hard he should work.

All Blacks confirm squad for Bledisloe 3, Spring Tour

Yep and throw that in with his almost at times complete lack of work ethic and you acn understand why he not in there Neutral, he capable of so much delivers so little!!

Good read gatsey, found I identified with almost all you said, isn’t great to read other’s thoughts on our great game, and you right we don’t have to agree with each other on all parts, it just good if we all remember to respect that everyone has an opinion, and not be insulting to ones you don’t agree with. I don’t really bother entering the league/union debate as I have only watched league a few times, and it hasn’t attracted my attention enough for me to have any thoughts on the game. I only worry about Rugby, the ethos of the game from both players and supporters, and will continue to follow it, and enjoy commenting on it in here. hey I may even put in an article one day soon to see if the powers that be are desperate enough to post it in here!

The Roar of my favourite crowd

Actually Ben, while I understand what you are saying you got a lot of facts wrong. NZ didn’t let Islanders in easily until late 70s? I know I worked with a few who got 3 month visas as only way to get in. Not sure if you remember the famous dawn raids looking for overstayers, it was only after these that the laws were changed to allow open emigration fron Islands.

The language of rugby

I not even sure what this whole article is about, or trying to invoke. We can all go through any sport or follow any team and find where we think press or fans have made claims we don’t agree with, and there maybe some points that are true, but basically as an AB supporter I cringe when I read this , as I know very well it not written by an AB fan, or even a rugby person, just someone who does not know how generally sports is so called reported and what click bait is. Read articles about Australian cricket ,when they were on top of world, or I imagine any sport team and you can find plenty of so called experts claiming they were/are cheating etc. I know you can then get some fan finding one or 2 points to say there that proves it, just use your brain and realise press etc report things to sell papers, and aren’t there to report the complete truth.
As an AB supporter, it doesn’t worry me, probably worry me more if they weren’t the ones getting written about because it means they not winning!

The language of rugby

Agree completely cm, was watching on Fox, but changed after kearnsie whinged about something and enjoyed it a lot more. Kicked myself for not doing it earlier as always find that is the case!

Five talking points from Springboks vs Wallabies

Yep stillmissit, much the same happens here in Brisbane with schools, as I say I know what Adam is saying about players mainly coming form certain schools, I was more pointing out it not really making it elitist, just that schools are picking the best players so that is how it will mostly always be. The same happens in Soccer, Cricket etc etc.

Rugby in New Zealand is at risk of becoming an elite game

I know where you coming from Adam, but you got one thing completely wrong, you say kids are only getting picked if they come from right schools, no the kids are getting picked up by private schools etc when they are good, that’s why they end up going to top of the pile!! I don’t really like it, but having a nephew who could go to a higher decibel school because of his rugby ability, I completely understand it!

Rugby in New Zealand is at risk of becoming an elite game

Perhaps some easier pool matched made 2015 look better Kane?

Cheika’s enthusiasm not washing over Wallabies

While not sure about replacing Cheika etc DJDJ, you are pretty accurate with what you say and even Cheika himself seems to back it up when in press conference he says the players are lacking enthusiasm, really in other words they not trying as hard as they should be!! Something is very wrong in camp!

Six talking points from Wallabies vs Argentina

I think the ABs did turn up to play alright West, and to say otherwise takes away how well the Boks played, although the ABs made mistakes, a lot of that was caused of pressure. I truly believe the Bokke just refused to lose!! Which is the Springboks I remember from most of my 60 odd years of following rugby with just s few exceptions!

As a rabid All Blacks fan, why was I okay with this shocking loss?
