Best part is supporters of opposing teams not just sitting together but embracing. (Maybe they’re a couple , we don’t know.) Whenever Soccer people bag Aussie Rules b/c it’s played only in one country I always think two things: Sure , but it’s our game and we love it and don’t care what you think , and look how our fans can sit next to each other without fighting , unlike Soccer crowds which have to be separated by big fences. I’ve sometimes sat with people I don’t know supporting the other side and after the siren we shook hands like the players do. It’s somehow both a bit cringey but also kind of cool.

LANGUAGE: 'S--t! F--k!' Pies fan's perfect reaction to epic Anzac Day draw

Not true , but your comment is comic relief.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions, Anzac Round: Who takes the biscuits on the season's longest weekend?

This is what he said,@ Cinderella’s Big Score …

In the garden of Eden stood Adam
Calmly surveying his madam
Though loud was his mirth
For he knew that on Earth
There were only two balls
And he had ’em.

Where’s he playing now , Cindy? I thought he was at Essendon VFL but isn’t on their list. My C’wood supporter mate was upset when the Pies dumped him and I was disappointed when my Hawks did the same. Seems like a good bloke too . Hope he gets another chance if he wants one.

AFL News: Why Cameron escaped ban for dumping tackle, Blues star hit for six, Dees re-sign fan favourite

Gave you a like for your comment , but please get yourself a diff. screen name. That one you’re using is totally off , in fact just as bad as Finlayson’s slur.

AFL News: Calls for Finlayson to cop ban for 'unacceptable' homophobic slur, Port coaching change on the way

That’s funny , @XI. Not that long ago the word “queer” was considered an insult to gays, and they didn’t like it. Got quite upset in fact. Now gays use it to describe themselves as you do. I wonder if in time the word Finlayson used will be acceptable . I am old ,and remember the time when newspapers wouldn’t / couldn’t even use the word bloody. Now you see it in print and online all the time , as well as the four letter words for poo and horizontal folk dancing . Times change, and these days quicker than they used to.

@tufanoo. Hence RT’s confusion. Matthew Richardson is RichO , not Ritchie. All of us who suffer through the commentary of the lamentable Brian Taylor know that only too well.

How Tasmania's AFL dream could be killed by a $750 million dilemma

Please let me finish your sentence ,” But what if the margin was closer” and the team behind had all the momentum? Complicates it even more, lol.

Mass confusion erupts over AFL 'abandoned match' rules after Easter Monday's bizarre lightning-enforced delay

“None of this makes any sense to me.” I can clear that up for you , Dumbo : It’s the Sydney Swans.

'Bad blood': Swan sidelined after alleged dispute with teammate

I didn’t mention pop concerts, Jack , and didn’t include them in my list above. Lots of people go to sports events , more people go to cultural ones. As I said – I’m more sporty that cultural , but it just happens to be true the culture bugs outnumber the sports fans.

The AFL should lead the way in proposing better-value, cheaper stadiums - without having to rely so much on the taxpayer

The Devils will be playing half their home games at York Park so you won’t be missing out. The fact the new stadium will be hosting only the other half is an argument against it.

The AFL holding Tasmania to ransom with stadium political football is an utter disgrace

It is ridiculous FIXturing. Seems mainly SA , WA and smaller Vic. clubs sent there. Never C’wood, Carlton, Richmond, Essendon who have supporters in Tassie that would go to see them. No direct flights for SA or WA teams either unless they charter them. Stinks…Here’re the facts. North in Tas. this year play Crows, Power, Cats and Eagles. Hawks play Saints, Giants, Dockers and North. Only big Vic. club in that list is G’long.

The AFL holding Tasmania to ransom with stadium political football is an utter disgrace

Yes George. The giveaway is they now talk about the “football industry.” It used to be a game.

“AFL is increasingly a private school game in terms of where the players are coming from.”
Or are they working class / country boys given sports scholarships to private schools to improve the schools’ footy teams chances of success?

The AFL holding Tasmania to ransom with stadium political football is an utter disgrace

Thanks for the correction James. Never been to Tassie , live in Northern NSW closer to Brisbane than Sydney. Mistook the nature of the buildings. Has the AFL given any reasons why Bellerive where North plays and York Park that hosts the Hawks are unsuited for acceptable at less than the cost of a new stadium?

The AFL should lead the way in proposing better-value, cheaper stadiums - without having to rely so much on the taxpayer

You’re wrong there , Jack Russell. Been shown statistically time and time again lots more people go to galleries , museums , opera theatres than go to sporting events. Some people go to both. I go to the football much more often than cultural events , but freely concede there are more arts patrons in Australia than sports attendees.

The AFL should lead the way in proposing better-value, cheaper stadiums - without having to rely so much on the taxpayer

Other relevant factors. The proposed stadium will be a huge hulking presence overlooking / overshadowing historic Salamanca Place. It will be used for a whole seven Devils home games a year. Proponents are saying the new stadium will attract pop star concerts but promoters avoid Tassie as there just aren’t enough customers there to cover costs , let alone turn a profit. There is also the prospect of Aboriginal heritage claims on the site. And the RSL is concerned the stadium will detract from the solemn reflective atmosphere of the Cenotaph memorial to our war dead . Just spend a lot less $$$ renovating Bellerive Oval and Yorke Park to play games there. The arrogance of the AFL big wigs is outrageous and they should be told to get lost. Surrounded by six opposition players who’d been told by the coach to rough him up to put him off his game. How’d you go controlling yourself in those circumstances? And is that a legitimate tactic? I used to umpire in U17 footy and saw the kids imitating the AFL players. Not a good look.

Free Sicily: Hawks skipper cleared of kicking ban by Tribunal

Not just ransom , Gilberto . also bullying blackmail. Really stinks.

Devils ready to raise hell: AFL's newest club goes back to the future with traditional jumper as stadium furore rages on

So with you on the superfluous T, Birdman. thought that as soon as i saw it . If they want more red on the jumper widen the bits on the neck and the sides.

Devils ready to raise hell: AFL's newest club goes back to the future with traditional jumper as stadium furore rages on

Not crazy , but unrealistic. Players hit the ground all the time , from a greater height and with more gravitational force than McGrath experienced.

AFL News: Bomber defends Sicily as Hawks challenge 'kicking' ban, Round 1 sets new attendance record

Look at the vision. Sicily connected with his lower leg , not his boot. Metal studs didn’t come anywhere near it. And why is Redman’s punch to the head questionable? If i come and give you one on the snout will you just accept it ?

Sicily cops one-game suspension for kicking as bans loom for Bomber, Sun

I’m worried but hoping too , but for an unlikely Hawthorn win , lol.

Pre-season 'urgency' at the Bombers as players drive a change in mindset hoping to end AFL finals pain

“Huge win for the NRL honestly.” Not so sure about that. The crowd was mostly Aussies who travelled and expats already there. The TV viewers numbered 100,000. Compare that to the 21 million who watched the recent NFL Superbowl on tv , with a crowd of 80,000 (I think it was )
The NRL venture to Las Vegas is not about crowds , anyway . It is , by the NRL head honcho V’Landys own straight up admission, about promoting gambling on NRL games by Americans. And he said so as if that’s a good thing. He actually said people don’t bet on Rugby League to make money , they just do it for fun . That’s what we should be talking about i reckon. The insidious irresponsible promotion of gambling.

The AFL didn't need to rob the NRL's house with Opening Round - it's more than big enough already

And no difference if you count Geelong’s ridiculous h.g.a. where visiting teams habitually kick out on the full b/c the ground is too $%^*($ narrow to play proper football.
