I think you will find it’s not about skewing the rules on overseas players, whipers around the place are that Sam W not finding the French experience what he hoping and wondering if he would take up second year option of contract. Some people just aren’t into the overseas thing! I know Anton Oliver said he knew after first game in France he wouldn’t stay a second year, he said in dressing room he realised that he was there playing for money and nothing else, as he said when he finished playing for the ABs the music died! I have no problems with Razor talking to him if he looking at coming back, another year or 2 would be good. I would be real pleased actually as I want AB tests to matter between WCs and not just load up with youngsters.

Razor's pursuit of 'hard bastard' Sam Whitelock reveals the ugly truth about the modern All Blacks

Kiwi, was at Palmerston on Friday, and Tupou seriously spent most of the half he was on walking around in middle of the field! I have noticed it on TV, but geez looks worse at field, and breaks into a trot now and then , and genuinely think he actually ‘ran’ as such 3 times!

Five things we learned: Schmidt's selection headache, Carter's a No.12 wildcard, and $1m Thor must step up

Boy do you and I agree on that Rugbytry, and I always said he should of been a right wing as he couldn’t pass of his left hand!

Ray, for the same reason every coach goes and does a scout of teams they are playing, to see how or what players they are likely to be playing against and what strengths and weaknesses they can expoit or counter. I recall Jase Ryan talking how he went to 6Ns befroe last years WC (in our off season) and came back with a interesting takes on how Irish were setting up mauls from lineout etc. at highest level it’s not just how your own team plays but how opposition plays as well.

The Wrap: Wallaby's brain fade that cost the Tahs, con job worthy of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

I agree JD, I not sure standard has dropped by any means, but more we getting more rugby as it should be played. For all anyone talks about clinical rugby etc, that is only ever in parts, really good rugby to me is usually chaos, and teams that handle the chaos best win! Was at Palmerston on Friday, and never thought there was a lesser standard, rather the Canes were winning real fast breakdown ball, and Rebels were in chaos trying to set defence. That is usually how good games are played etc.

Frankly I can assure you if the broadcasters wanted a domestic comp, RA would have it! I not sure if you remember when RA signed with Stan, they wouldn’t actually do it until they knew that RA and NZR has signed off on super. Much as I love your optimism, you would need a tv deal of at least another $20-30 mill to pay another 2-3 teams from Aus, and that very least, probably a lot more. And with Rebels going broke and probably gone even with 3 new teams it only leaves a 7 team comp, of questionable quality.

Exclusive: Rebels threaten Civil War as peace talks with RA end in another blow for Super Rugby

And idiotic posters, who really don’t know a lot pretend they know better . What a conundrum huh? Do we take notice of the ‘experts’ online, or the ones who actually know the laws and how they meant to be judicated?

That’s because they all apperntly online , and not getting off their bums and actually doing anything huh Jacko??

Which sounds great, if you come up with the extra money to pay all these extra players!

The Rebels didn’t so much roll up sleeves as I got impression, they followed coaches instructions to slow game down come what may. They did the Sprinbaoks proud I thought at times. Was at game, and they looked completely worn out by haftime (I thought they were gone after 15 mins). Wasn’t one Rebels player I would of swapped for a Canes player last night. And that was with 13 changes for Canes in starting line up!

Hurricanes put half-century on Rebels in ugly scoreline for embattled Super Rugby franchise as injuries add up

How do you know that Razor was scouting out RMo, I seriously doubt he was there to watch RMo anyway, who else was on the field, andetc, I don’t even know who they were playing when Razor was there, or even if he watched some other team etc. Seems Hamish is being Hamish again, and just trying to make stories.

'It's time we grew up': The jarring hypocrisy that proves All Blacks are getting key call all wrong

No HO, his job is too pick NZ’s best players that are contracted to NZR.

Understand that TJ, and not knocking anyone or the team, just he a forced signing who seems to be starting. Obviouly a problem wirh depth.

'It hurts': Force's season goes from bad to worse as Lealiifano, Kepu lead Moana Pasifika to upset win

Could be the case on coaching Qualify, I just worry when Tiatia,Franklin etc are starting, and then (I know injuries ahve to do with it) Prinsep etc. Just from over here they are players who never quite made it (Tiatia couldn’t crack a starting spot, and said that was main reason for going to Force) Tom Franklin (though has come into my Taranaki team as injuy cover in NPC) was quite a reasonable lock , but perhaps a couple of years ago now? I don’t really know the Force team well, as their home games tend to be on at midnight here so don’t catch them, but they don’t seem to have a lot of name players?

To be honest Qualify, I missed the game (was on at midnight in NZ), but also find that the Force really look from here like a team of players that sre well past best, with a couple of Super rugby quality players thrown in?

Mate WR does not sanction what hppens before tests etc. I repeat if any rugby board says we don’t want a Cibi or Haka outside of world cup matches they have evry right. I have seen teams a number of times line cross the 10m line outside WC matches, and belive the Wallabies did with their Boomerang shape. I will be incredibly interested to see where the rule is that that you speks of. On the Irish anthem, once again I am pretty sure if host union allowed it there no reason you can’t have 2 anthems, and also no reason Ireland couldn’t incorporate them into one if they wanted ala South Africa. I know Australia used to have someone sing Waltzing Matilda just before game at home (and after anthem) with no problems at all. They couldn’t do that probably at WC even in Aus because WR control everything from advertising to prematch stuff in WCs, but only control the laws of the game outside of that.

The Wrap: The two massive power shifts shaping Australian and New Zealand rugby

Otago, I read that they were just looking at giving Patchell a break, has played quite a few minutes.

Super Rugby teams: Rookie at 10 for Reds, DC dips into club footy in hooker crisis, Jorgo ruled out, White benched

No scrum, not saying anyone has or hasn’t got drawing power. But have a look at NH, they play a lot more games, but have no problems resting top players a lot more, and crowds still come. But anyway I quite happy with how they handle players in fitnes etc.

Although you not seeing Stan being interested , I would be surprised, but also their is South American tv that may have an interest?

Of course up to a point there is development towards ABs, and you don’t think Aus teams are same? So why do we have the likes of Schmidt etc talking to super coaches and players? Every comp is seen anywhere in world as stepping stone to higher honours etc. And as I say with your impression, that may well be your impression talking to kiwis where ever you live, but have not heard it once here in NZ. I quite sure you can always find someone who will agree, and many will find excuses why they can’t be bothered going to rugby, all I can say what I have found amongst rugby community here in NZ. But I am quite interested you don’t think RA etc don’t use super as development for Wallabies etc.

Yep NZ does have salary cap though, but I think can be got around for 1 or 2 top players and 3rd party agreements. I take your point, and is NZ do have a salary cap higher than Aussie’s, should NZ cut theirs and lose more players to NH, or should Aus have one that is similar and play teams they can afford within that cap? Make no mistake I don’t have answers, but just question some of others.

Well I live here scrum, and at rugby in some form or ather every week when season starts, and have never heard anyone say I not going because they are resting so and so etc . The biggest drawback for many is time of matches , and generally day matches are well attended etc. It’s so easy to sit at home in the warmth and watch games.

Isn’t a bad ideaPic, would suggest if you have a domestic comp as main one, the salary cap would be quite some lower than at moment, and so more would wander off elsewhere to play. I not even sure if there is difference in salary caps for Aus and kiwi teams anyway. Most kiwi players would earn more because they also got NPC (if they not ABs etc) on top of Super.

I not in anyway defending or otherwise late hit, but the whole not wrapping arm is ridiculous or every 2nd tackle would be considered shoulder charge. If anyone has played rugby in here didn’t use shoulder at impact I will suggest you were not a defnder anyone was worried about. Look at alsmost every hardish tackle that people applaud etc, it involves hitting with shoulder, and even then a lot don’t complete wrap . If I could be botherd or knew how to do it, I bet I could find an example of failing to wrap in at least 3-4 tackles and pot them on here from and super game from weekend.

'What you permit, you promote': Reds slam late 'cheap shot', HMP set to start ahead of Lynagh in Rebels grudge match

scrum NZR policy was players couldn’t play a certain number of games in a row, and a good percentage of coaches do same anyway with time they give players on field. Policy has changed anyway and only requires a certain number of rests anyway. Of course it is designed for ABs, as their season basically starts after the super season finishes. The other biggest difference (that doesn’t effect fans) is they don’t do any heavy training in rest week. I have yet to see anyone saying hell we playing the Canes this week and Joride ir resting, so I not going. In fact while I was in Brisbane found the fans were keener on watching the kiwi teams with one or 2 top players out as they thought Reds had more chance of a win etc.
