So proud of MP – he’s worked so hard to get himself where he is!

Yes this was thrown around when we talked about law variations in SR AU. I like it!
Maybe it should be like waterpolo – any player conceding a penalty in the 22m is automatically sent to the corner (or under the poles) until his team regains possession?

Yes definitely – Hodgey has played some of his best rugby for us at 15. He’ll go well there for us tomorrow. DHP got a nice battle on his hands when he’s fit again!

Thanks for having me guys – some really great feedback! Appreciate the warm welcome!!

Yes obviously a big safety element regarding the law changes in recent years around the scrum. I only think players should have to get to a mark in a certain time (say 30 secs) and then the ref could take them through the normal set up routine safely.

You might be right! I also think that there is some onus on us coaches to think about the game differently. The stats are representative of a way that we are all trying to play – but we need someone to think of the game totally differently.

Thanks Slane – yes agree re time wastage around scrums – which also reduce player fatigue and therefore space, but i love the fact that they allow for all body shapes

A few years ago (under the ELV’s) you could do anything you want at the ruck as long as you entered through the gate – thought this made it easier to ref and incentivised the defending team to put bodies into the contest (less defenders in the line, more space for the attack). Wonder why it wasn’t retained?

Yes definitely agree with the need to increase fatigue. Risk that it comes with more errors…all we need then is some decent coaches!!

Yes agree – we should probably be looking to reward the attack more than limit it.
