Yes the 3rd mid fielder should have that covered

Takeaways from Australia's win over Taiwan

I didn’t know South America all played each other in qualifying, so yeah they won’t need one, unless you combine north and south, but that wouldn’t be fair. I do imagine though the US is like us and would benefit from playing higher quality opposition more often. In anycase, Asian nations league needs to come in after the next World Cup, even before

The Socceroos need an Asian Nations League

You’re example is much better suited and is no doubt an inevitable scenario, and yes some people will complain no matter what and about anything, they should evaluate themselves. Personally I don’t care for the VAR, referees cop it because of replays in all televised sports, when you play on the weekends mistakes and missed calls happen all the time, you get on with it and nobody blames the ref for the end result. I would also like to point out, the howlers that happen in other sports are much more frustrating, in soccer it’s mostly 50/50, too close to calls, “was his toenail offside?”, “was his arm away from his body?”, and the players themselves know a single referees call doesn’t determine a game, they have 90+ minutes to win, fans like to make scapegoats. So as yesterday’s article says, football fans have themselves to blame for having VAR.

The match should stop during the VAR process

Yes as this article points out, the process will need to be improved, and thankfully the solutions to fix the problems are simple. “The cure that kills the patient” is a gross over exaggeration and a cynical point of view

Love it or hate it, VAR was spot on during A-League Round 1

The arm counts as apart of the handball rule, his arm was away from his body, I don’t like that it was a penalty as the handball actually hampered the defence and benefited WSW, but the rule is black and white now.

No others would say attendance was on par, get used to VAR buddy, it’s not going anywhere.

WSW will definitely take time, and the derbies in a league of 11 teams and nearly 30 games is a joke, manufactured rubbish. Admittedly derbies were a reason WU and MacFC were admitted.

Groundhog Day over again for football in Australia

You’re argument is redundant, CCM may have scored as play continues, CCM would not score if play is stopped. Which is the lesser of two evils? There being no possibility of anyone scoring during the process? Or there being the potential for someone to score and have it taken away?

Channel 7 news didn’t even mention Western United’s first game during sports, that was just unforgivably poor sports journalism. I was so angry, just a small mention and a bunch of people would of learned there is a new team.

Dear A-League fans, it's time to take off the rose-coloured glasses

Live replays at the grounds will come in time. In the meantime you have to take a more positive view, because it’s not going anywhere. When I’m watching NRL and there is a video ref decision that goes your way, you end up celebrating the try twice (or denial), sometimes with as much excitement as the first time, and you can hear that at the grounds.

VAR has changed football, but we only have ourselves to blame

How could you honestly say it’s made the game worse? By making sure we get the correct decision? Righto

I think it is inevitable every continent will end up with this

The Socceroos need an Asian Nations League

You’re no heart and soul raiders fan, you not not even a heart and soul league fan, otherwise you would have no sympathy for the goosters and their in bread fans. Hasn’t even been a week and you say you’ve gotten over it? “Not that big of a deal”? You’re not heart and soul

Ben Cummins is a good man and a great referee – so lay off him!

“Australia’s greatest cricketer, Elyse Perry”… righto

The newly independent A-League failed its first test

I would like to see A league games in Canberra, don’t understand why we don’t already if they want a team there in the long run

Social media is one way to actually market the A-League

Good to hear this is organically happening

That’s a pretty sweet deal, when does insurance stop paying the salary? How does it work with the salary cap when they get better? and the replacement is still contracted

Western Sydney Wanderers are about to monster the A-League

The cap doesn’t stop them signing replacements for injured visas, not sure about domestic, but Slater said just this morning there are rules in place to allow replacing injured players under the cap.

Australian football requires a wholistic approach. We need to get a second division going ASAP, with a clear path to P&R, creating consequence for losing, adding more reason to compete, and a place for developing Australians to get regular competitive play time. Even the lowly players comfy pay checks are under threat with relegation. I don’t blame foreigners for taking away opportunities from Australians, you have to earn it, take that position away from them, we are too comfortable and complacent, Honda pointed this out.

Why Bosnich and Slater are both right about foreign players in the A-League

I think Optus is inevitable, I hope like someone said the other day Bein gets onboard with them. All football in one place, and free with my 30gb phone deal!

Hey A-League, wake me up when September ends

I’m all for a sustainable approach, but their comes a time to stop protecting clubs, and let capitalism sort out the rest

Let's start a second division without promotion and relegation

It was a shame to see his misses get to him, a player like him has the green light to never stop shooting, no matter how many misses. He hasn’t been great all tournament

We had chances to win, but the refereeing was incredibly frustrating at times, especially with that cuck Rubio flopping all over the place

Will Socceroos fans ever appreciate Graham Arnold?

Him using imports at Sydney justifies his point about limiting imports. A-league coaches would have a whole team full of imports if they could, then they have the hide to whinge when players get picked for U-23s. They only care about themselves, which is fair and I understand, hence why imports need limiting.
