Sorry mary, while i like your articles im afraid the horse has bolted on this one. NRL writers and commentators are generally all appalling. The RL shows, except NRL on Fox, all appeal to the lowest common denominator. Mattty Johns’ style of show and humour is low brow and belongs to a bygome era. Hindy and fletch are terrible, humour with an absence of any humour whatsoever, they’re childish and immature.
Moreover, barely any of these guys (the girls are a breath of fresh air exception), players and even commentators, can speak properly.
By way of glaring and all to frequent example; ‘he come on and done good”.

Freddy fitler adds nothing to the commentary. Andrew johns is insightful but is part of the boys’ club, although he speaks better than most, including his brother

And the journos and their clickbait and old school conservative views about flags and singing the national anthem are another thing altogether!

Why I’m worried about the quality of NRL journalism

Crowds are much less than ok. But nrl has no interest in crowds and bizarrely is not embarrased by huge banks of empty seats. Its a joke.

Psst, the NRL Nines and All Stars game are coming up

Thats what they need.

Wigan chief wants home-grown England coach to replace Wayne Bennett

Ennis a great commentator though.

Eels legend calls for NRL to scrap ‘no punch’ rule

No one is taking him seriously.

Eels legend calls for NRL to scrap ‘no punch’ rule

Brett kenny is a legend of the eels and the game. But from his comments it seems he is also a dinsour.

That said, i love watchimg the footage of the old all in brawls on you tube.

Of course, those days have passed and the past (and you tube) is where they belong

Eels legend calls for NRL to scrap ‘no punch’ rule

Hmmmm, its certainly popular in the south and the west, but its easily the least attractive game to watch and really only involves 2 skills – kicking and catching.

Obviously people brought up on it love it but its a pretty boring game to watch im afraid.

Women have been the biggest revolution in sport over the last decade

Lol – theyd like us to think so…

Women have been the biggest revolution in sport over the last decade

Im all for the new professional women’s competitions, but im dissapointed the NRLW is so small and afraid to stand on its own 2 feet by instead playing curtain raisers for the NRL.

Thay said, while the standard is pretty good, its not as good as pretty much any mens first grade comp in the country, includimg the VRL.

Matildas, though, remain the standard bearer for womens team sport in australia.

Women have been the biggest revolution in sport over the last decade

One has to wonder why the RLPA isnt all over this…

TPAs getting smaller in the NRL is not a good thing

What a stupid idea!

The next step in the Australia-England sporting rivalry

Great article.

If you think rugby league’s ‘gone soft’, you’re wrong

I didn’t think any aussie soccer fan would want to miss out on a 60,000 crowd. Great effort to sell 53,000 tickets already. Well done to all involved.

This A-League grand final bandwagon talk must stop

Lets not forget who qantas does business with, nations where being gay is a crime. Why doesnt joyce take a stand on that?

Folau fired: Rugby Australia axe Israel

What is your point? 30,000 would be a great success and FC Barcelona has invited them to play. Do you follow aussie rules, soccer or rugby?

Hit the road, Jack: Federal Court finds in favour of NRL

Actually its both and dont forget that he is charged and not convicted and may in the end be exonerated. Let the justice system do its job and await the outcome.

Hit the road, Jack: Federal Court finds in favour of NRL

He has not been found guilty of any crime yet and should not be pre judged. The issue is that the game comes first and the player must bide his time.

Hit the road, Jack: Federal Court finds in favour of NRL

The game is bigger than one player. The court will rule in due course whether his conduct was criminal but in the meantime this policy is in place to protect the game. The NRL had no other choice.

Hear hear

Hit the road, Jack: Federal Court finds in favour of NRL

Read Her Honour’s judgment, its all set out for you.

Hit the road, Jack: Federal Court finds in favour of NRL

You don’t get it. Hearing what was read out in court, this is not a “he said she said” case. Guilty or not, it appears De Belin has put himself in to this position. He should have been at home with his pregnant partner. The case against him was said by the magistrate to be a strong one. Please do not diminish the rights and wellbeing of the victim (alleged) until tbe jury has heard and seen all of the evidence and rendered its verdict.
In tbe meantime, De Bellin must not play and sh ok uld have stood down himself.

De Belin and NRL set for Federal Court showdown yet the Dragons must make the call

Good article. If somehow De Belen is permitted to play one can only imagine how many fans will stay away from Saints matches, nno doubt droves. The club should have stood him down immediately when the facts as contended against him were read out in court. They should never have left it to the NRL, which has bungled even that it appears. That Saints have not recognised the right course to take is an idictment on their managment and can only have damaged the club’s reputation and diminished its following.

De Belin and NRL set for Federal Court showdown yet the Dragons must make the call

That is correct too. Guilt or not aside, he put himself in this position and he must wear the consequences.

Jack de Belin stood down as new policy confirmed for NRL players charged with serious crimes

Thats the way it has to be. The game is bigher than any one player and the game cannot allow players against whom rape is alleged playing a family oriented game.

Hear hear!

Do NRL redemption stories push a false narrative?
