So anytime someone throws mud at a board they should all stand down? Seems reasonable.

I guess the counter would be that RA has already heavily cut admin costs so how much could be gained, and the SA model would see Australian SR teams weaker and losing more to NZ teams, reducing viewership further and making SR even less appealing to broadcasters, which would end up hitting revenues.
I’m not saying the ideas are bad in themselves, just that it’s easy to come up with great ideas when you don’t have to see them through.
I don’t agree that we aren’t hearing anything from RA. We’ve got a new high performance manager, new coach, new funding for the wallaroos, an apparently improved loan arrangement – all while dealing with the Rebels issues. I’d love to hear more about a 3rd tier but it’s hard to commit to that while all these financial issues are still blowing around.

I mean there are good ideas in there but I’m not sure there are many that the existing board would disagree with. The one advantage SOARR has is they don’t have to explain how they would pay for all of their ideas. I think that’s what Herbert was talking about with his rocks comment, it’s easy to have all the answers when you don’t have to worry about ever having to implement them.

Did they reallly offer solutions though? Burning everything down and giving more power to a bunch of people who have consistently demonstrated their inability to overcome petty parochialism doesn’t really sound like a solution to me.

We may come to a time when #1 happens, but I think the ramifications would be huge. Why would a young AU guy stay in rugby with so little chance at a shot in the big time? They’ll all go to NRL.

I feel like you need to convince us why throwing everything out and starting again will actually make any difference. All I see in rugby in Australia is division and a “let’s blame someone else for everything” mentality. The individual unions are as responsible for that as anyone, yet we are going to trust them to right the ship?
