Retired 2 years ago, spent 2022 fulfilling a dream, driving around Australia. Having worked in Ireland, Saudi Arabia, and China, settled in the best place in the world since 2005. Have been a Reds member for years.. Have not given up hope since 2011 triumph. Have been to almost every home game since.. Still hoping!

Five things: Aussie sides finally discover what it takes to compete against Kiwis, rookie outshines World Cup Wallaby

😂

RA reeling and facing a mass exodus of biggest stars - there are three key reasons why they're in peril

Not microscoping… He continues to behave on field with a lack of urgency which is very unsettling (and no need for a microscope to see that). Just compare him to his opposite number, Mac Greally!

'Tough call': Reds too good for Tahs in cracking Aussie derby, as controversial penalty try, yellow to Jorgo proves telling

In Roma, Nongur wasn’t going well, but as soon as Alex Hodgeman replaced him, the Reds’ scrums were much more stable, and we even won a penalty or two from scrums.

Kiss delivers bad news on JOC leaving three-way battle for key Reds role

Absolutely!

Rugby News: RA starts Wallabies coach 'sprint', 'SBW-like move' mooted for NRL star, Gatland wants 'mark' erased

I don’t agree – too many scrums are being used as a way of being awarded a penalty, which then leads to further time wasting. So instead of a penalty, give a free kick and keep the game flowing..

Rugby News: RA starts Wallabies coach 'sprint', 'SBW-like move' mooted for NRL star, Gatland wants 'mark' erased

I’m not sure about that, Max.. I suspect that he was more trouble than he was worth at the Reds. His laziness would have infuriated Thorn, and may have contributed to his move South.

'An experienced 10 would have helped': Wallabies open up on on failed World Cup they'll have to 'live with'

This sort of talk would have not gone down well with Brad Thorn; perhaps that explains Nela’s move to the Rebels?

'An experienced 10 would have helped': Wallabies open up on on failed World Cup they'll have to 'live with'

Good on you, Doc! You have distilled the problems and solutions for RA into one paragraph. Your post should be in BOLD capitals on the wall in the RA Boardroom… RA could save us all the time and expense of an “Inquiry” and “Just Do It”..

Eddie's Wallabies future on tenterhooks amid coaching changes, key ally departs as Waugh returns home

Agree completely – coaching at Super Rugby level is key…

'He's got to be honest'- Wallabies legend's message to mate Eddie as ex-skipper says Jones 'never committed'

Brilliant! ????

'Coaching staff is outstanding': Eddie assistant's bold call on 'eclectic' crew - despite their smash and grab flop

Well expressed TWAS. I was talking to a public high school vice-principal a couple of weeks ago, about sport programmes in his school; they have basketball, soccer, AFL, League, archery and others I can’t remember. There are over 3,000 students, and 350 teachers in the place – I wonder has anybody from Ballymore paid a visit to encourage the start-up of a Rugby team?

The solutions to Australian rugby's problems are right in front of us

David – but it’s a bit tough on players who are not impressing EJ because they are being poorly coached.

Wallabies squad confirmed: Eddie Jones shocks with big name omissions from first training camp

Qualify – I agree, but where can you get a worthwhile coach at this point in the season?

Wallabies squad confirmed: Eddie Jones shocks with big name omissions from first training camp

Yes, there is one common denominator. I was a fan of BT for a year or two when he was “building” the team, but having lost so many really good players, and achieved almost nothing, I hope the Reds management are actively looking for a new coach at this point.

I also have noted this constant haemorrhage of our best players; this is a man management issue, which must be laid at the feet of the Head Coach. Time for Brad to go…

'I'll try not to cry': What emotional Lynagh told his dad in front of teammates after Super debut, Thrush might play on

There’s got to be a man management issue at the Reds; so many of the better players moving on, leaving 2nd and 3rd string development players trying to fill their shoes. Contrast that with the Brumbies, who seem to be able to retain the best players, even with really good young challengers threatening them.
After five years and no real progress, it seems to me that Brad has had a good “go” and been found wanting..

ANALYSIS: Glimmer of hope despite Reds rout, and the player who can end Australia's huge Mack Hansen regret

Don’t think the Reds are at their peak yet – maybe two more years – so if they don’t win this year, it’s not a disaster…

Super Rugby AU final teams: Reds change captain, Brumbies hit hard by injuries

Completely agree, MH01, but how?? Since the Board is accountable to nobody, things will never change at NSW HQ.

The decision to sack Rob Penney was shameful. But you already knew that

Surely, guys, the obvious cause of the implosion at NSW rugby is the total lack of accountability of the Board. A complete restructuring of the management along the lines of a private company, with paid membership, AGM, election of board members for fixed terms, etc would fix this problem.

The Wrap: Wallabies squad unveiling a step forward and a step backward

Correct HiKa, but there are other more serious injuries of the plantar fascia, such as a “Lisfranc” injury (Torn fascia) which is what sidelined Jordan Petaia for several months…

All Blacks make raft of changes for Eden Park Bledisloe showdown

Thanks for bringing up the refereeing issue.
The Aussie refs have not been anything as hard on enforcing the rules as their Kiwi counterparts, and it has showed in the quality of the games, particularly in the rucks. The ball appeared like magic in the Kiwi games, whereas the Aussie rucks, were the same old – same old mess, with players going off their feet over the ball, and, coming in from the side, while their team mates in the defensive line were a metre off side, denying the attacking team any possibility of mounting a running attack, and slowing everything down to a pedestrian pace.
Aussie refs need to learn from their Kiwi cousins, who are doing a great job!

Super Rugby Week 6: Choose your own disappointment

Absolutely right, Jimmy. Rugby.com has been serving the “rusted-on” fans like us very well, but I don’t think they saw themselves as being there to promote our game to the “masses”..

Australian rugby deserves more media coverage

Yes, TWAS, I understand that, and I read and watched everything that they produced, but my point is that they were “preaching to the choir” and that they were not getting stuff into the mainstream media to engage the general public, the NRL followers, the ABC, local radio (Brisbane 612 Grandstand is virtually exclusively devoted to NRL..). Until we can get those people interested, the attendances at games will continue to decline..

Australian rugby deserves more media coverage

I agree with and support your views on the poor coverage of Rugby by the National broadcaster, but I believe that this is a two-way process. Writing or broadcasting about something you’re not interested in is very hard work, and journalists, like the rest of us will often take the easy route when their Editor wants copy for the next programme. Does Rugby Australia feed these journalists with ready-made articles or video material? Anybody in business or entertainment knows that when you want to attract customers you have to play the media game – feed them stories, hold press conferences, give them a few drinks if necessary, to get your message published or on air.
Does RA have a Press Officer being paid from the $20m budget for Corporate affairs?
If yes, then he or she has not been earning their salary for the past 5 years, and I hope they are among the culled HQ staff; if no, then that was downright corporate negligence.
I hope Hamish McDonald, with his media background, will recognise and address this huge deficiency in HQ as a matter of urgency.. Then we (and the general sporting public) may see a bit more about Rugby on our national broadcaster’s channel.
