That’s the best you can do?

Six Points: Greene lucky to only get a week, 2024's two best wins, and the moment that sums up woeful Roos

We’re talking about 10-15 best 22.
Carlton is not close to being injury impacted the way West Coast has been and that Freo was in that 2016- 2029 period.
Of the mob you listed, only Cerra and Saad are genuinely missed. The rest are easily replaced. Not significant outs at all. You may not have noticed the GWS absence of Taylor and Coniglio. Now they ARE significant outs.

Without Amiss, Freddy and Switta moving quickly, Treacy and Banfield were the only hopes and they were swamped. Jackson and Walters were just lazy. The clock is ticking for Sturt. He could be anything but he does good things for one or two moments a half.

That performance was just listless, not typical of anything we have done this year…a fixture that was just too unbalanced. There’s no way that shouldn’t have been a home game.

Our previous 5 games are who we are.

Nup. It wasn’t the midfield; it was our defence for the first time this year and a forward line with no defensive pressure in the absence of our 3 fastest forwards, Amiss, Freddy and Switta.

We are not maximising Young. In the heat of the midfield, his kicking is neutralised. Brodie and Brayshaw (and Johnson and Erasmus) can do what Young does in the middle. Get him to half back with Chapman. Hughes out. Aish back to the wing or the sub bench.

A few more reasons too.

Freo is the more engaging side though.

Fyfe was on Kelly most of the game. Yeo had less possessions, less contested possession, less clearances and disposed at 68% compared to Fyfe’s 82%. In what way did Yeo “beat” Fyfe?

I know you’re sad about the result but some of your finger pointing is way off the mark.

He was outstanding on Saturday…all season in fact. You’re obviously not watching. Better numbers than the Bont on the weekend (apart from his junk time goals in the last 5 minutes).

Nothing on Freo either.

They were outscored by Freo, the 9th side.

There simply is not a go slow game plan. Some players (Hughes in particular) go slow but the game plan is exactly opposite to that. Execution is an issue but not the plan.

The press characterisation of Freo is nothing close to what happens.

I can guarantee Freo has no interest there…simply because we have no need.

There is an 18yo key forward that missed being drafted that is burning up WAFL games (and colts last year). Freo is quite likely to pick up Jasper Scaife in the mid-season draft.

The problem in those quarters was not our midfield. We were winning more of the ball. Reid did the damage up forward on Hughes, not in the midfield. We caned them on clearances. When we went forward, only Banfield offered defensive pressure. Walters, Sturt and Emmett were off their Tucker.

That allowed rebound. Draper should have been on Darling,,allowing Pearce’s pace and reach to stop Waterman, releasing Ryan to range more freely. The problem, though was that Aish was jumping to spoil instead of crumbing and clearing and Hughes is just pushed away, turns it over when he receives a handpass under pressure and his tackling is fragile. Clark, Walker and Pearce were strong but the others gave us our first losing defence for the season. Jlo and Matty Boyd should be able to attend to that mid game.

Only because we have played different teams. Check it out when everyone has played everyone.

He doesn’t “hide” in the forward line…he drives it, as he did when they both played together before Darcy got injured. He kicked 20 odd goals in that 8 game spread.

He was as absent as Walters on the weekend and I’d say he was just flat after the battering he has taken against bigger rucknen in those first 5 weeks. Amiss out, spoiled what we hoped would be our trump. We lost the 3 prongs. They only had 2 tall defenders.

They’ll get a go. Frederick and Switkowski will be back. We missed their defensive pressure. Don’t panic. Chapman back too

I love ’em both but there’s no contest for my deepest affection.

I can’t believe how quickly folk forget their wins against Brissy and Carlton (we all know that one…and now Carlton is “Premier of the week”) and that great effort against Port. We have our first home game in 4 weeks. Things are fine.

They have just started their careers. They are not Harley Reid. Have you watched them at Peel? Simpson is polished and Delean is spectacular…and very quick.

Six Points: Greene lucky to only get a week, 2024's two best wins, and the moment that sums up woeful Roos

No. Martin is just a good player in a very weak team. McDonald has done nothing yet. Certainly way, way behind Jackson and not quite as good as Treacy.
Most of the players you mentioned are Peel players. Walker is way ahead (one of the best small defenders in the AFL). Banfield, Hughes, Sturt, Worner and Wagner are depth players who miss when Chapman, Switta, Frederick, Cox are back.

People are just wrong about WC. I said all last year and the year before, injury was their issue…as it was for Freo. When you have 10-15 out each week, you can’t compete. WC will be in the mix for the 8 (I said that pre-season too). They have experienced players fit now. Their youth are getting games under their belts. And, they have more to come back.
That was easily the strongest opposition we have had this season.
We played that game without Amiss, Switkowski and Frederick. They’ll be back. The problem is delivery, not the forwards themselves. They are all kicking goals when it gets down there.

Richmond colleague?

Why would that be strange?

Brayshaw and Serong are very quick, especially Brayshaw. That’s not the issue. We need to get Brayshaw back inside and send Young back to half back.

Jihnson and Erasmus are both terrific but just need experience. They will improve exponentially.

Our problem on the weekend was our usual strength; our defence. Hughes and Aish were open doors and Ryan was done like a dinner on Waterman. Pearce, Walker and Clark were good but their mates were down.

Up front, our defensive pressure from Amiss, Switta and Frederick was missing and Sonny just can’t run any more.

Next week we miss Amiss but we get back Frederick, Switta and Chapman.

Darcy back in the ruck was fantastic.

In concussion protocols.

Liam Baker is pure Travis Colyer. Just a hard working average skilled player…we have half a dozen at Peel just as good.

My goodness, Freo lost to a very good Eagles side…they are fine.
