What are you talking about mate?

We got an excellent series and lost by a dick hair to a team ranked higher than us. The squad MC picked for the Ireland series was excellent.

If your going to run a anti MC crusade at least keep your information current.

Seven talking points from Super Rugby Round 18

yeah im liking how the forward pack is coming together at the tahs

as i said above im a fan of wells but i think dempsey is a little more influential when on song.

people talk about the lightweight nature of the pack but i think they have stood up this year. The scrum looks solid enough even against much heavier packs

in terms of ball runners, defenders, lineout jumpers and fetchers I think they are well serviced.

Tahs outgun Reds in 15-try rugby shootout

to be honest i don’t think off set piece the Irish are going to gunning down that channel as much our SH brethren.

correct me if i’m wrong but theirs is a kicking and wide game is it not? hes going to have to do some defensive work obviously but they dont have the big fellas we usually face and if its a foot race i’d back beale most days.

I like that backline because we have enough firepower, pace, ball players, solidarity under the high ball and kick returners to cover all bases adequately IMO

if your bringing your devastating runners of the bench in say kerevi and koriobete late game when a little more space opens up it could bode well against some of the smaller NH teams

BREAKING: Michael Cheika reveals his Wallabies squad for Ireland Tests

agreed re robertson

Tahs outgun Reds in 15-try rugby shootout

Holloway was the MOM for me.

He ate meters for breakfast, was strong in the set piece and defended well i thought.

I remember last time i saw him come in and play lock off the bench or shuffled around (cant remember) he didnt look to crash hot.

But i think playing in tight and hitting the ball up suits him much more than out wide in that read 8 man role which is what he has been doing the past couple of seasons i think. That suits wells far more.

Also thought miller was excellent again. He really gets stuck in around the breakdown and makes a menace of himself.

When dempsey is back in the fold and hits form id love to see a backrow of 6.miller 7.hooper 8.dempsey…

Nothing against wells, but hes not as good as those 3 when all are on song

BREAKING: Michael Cheika reveals his Wallabies squad for Ireland Tests

Hah sorry if it came across the wrong way. Or just sounded plain weird…

My job involves me staying up all night and leaves me very little to do except read anything rugby related I can find.

I saw the view from Sweden going gangbusters over on the guardian comments section earlier, and then the neutral view from Sweden doing the same over here and thought to myself there is no way someone has enough time to sift through all these rugby related comment sections the way I do.

How wrong I was….

I promise to refrain from making (admittedly terrible) jokes until I’ve got a solid 8 hours sleep under under my belt in the future. Have a good one!

Why an analyst needs a long memory: The Reds and the Tahs restore the faith

As special as the guardian comment section NV?
Your name change in those parts doesn’t fool me 😉

Why an analyst needs a long memory: The Reds and the Tahs restore the faith

It seems as though Argentinian audiences share a certain personality trait with Australian audiences. If their team isn’t performing they aren’t giving up their hard earned…

Thanks for the article Carlos.

The continuous conflict in Argentine rugby

I think as it stands I’d like to see S.A teams move up north. As an Australian I’d be sad to see them go, my whole life I’ve enjoyed watching the most decorated teams in world rugby battle it out in provincial rugby almost as much as watching the tri-nations and now rugby championship.

It just seems for a wealth of reasons like it’s the best option for everyone except maybe N.Z…

For Australia, a new focus on our domestic comps and grassroots would seem to be what the general consensus is to get our rugby back heading in the right direction. I feel like without the S.A cash it might be our only option.

It opens up the opportunity for (preferably) a couple of teams from the pacific islands and therefore hopefully somewhat stemming the player drain their national teams suffer from.

Ditto another team in Asia. Except for what we are told the rugby market is very lucrative…

Where that leaves Argentinas team (or teams) is anyone’s guess… north or south they need homegrown professional rugby teams.

For S.A maybe the north is a better fit? Their players head there in their prime already, they have the cash and the professional infrastructure if not better than equal to anything super rugby can provide, the time zones work better and there seems an appetite (at least on the roar) to go. What does all this spell for the rugby championship and SAANZAR?

It’s just NZ, do they buy into this utopian rugby competition knowing full well they are likely to dominate or do they go it alone knowing they are likely to dominate the international game anyway based on their love and domestic appetite for rugby. Is this a catalyst for a problem similar to what the pacific islands and more recently S.A national teams face with player migration? I haven’t seen a single kiwi advocate for going it alone…

I for one am very excited to see how it all pans out from here to whenever the new broadcast deal is announced for 2020…

The best South African XV in the Pro 14

I played under hoopers captaincy at the mighty manly roos for a number of years as well as at the the marlins junior team for a year and he was always the first picked as captain for the reasons you describe as well as being heads and tails above the rest of the squad in terms of ability. A decent amount of which have now gone on to play super rugby, aus 7s and Shute shield.

Michael Cheika's new Wallabies need a new captain: Adam Coleman

What? surely you are not disagreeing that by every measurable standard Australia is one of the best places to live in the world… Australian rugby isn’t to crash hot at the moment but please don’t let that affect your overall opinion of our great country.

Michael Cheika's new Wallabies need a new captain: Adam Coleman

Agreed re mostert – the boks looking like they will have a belter of a second row for years to come when you factor in du toit, de jagger and of course etzabeth

After all the distractions, it’s a welcome 1 v 2 Super Rugby final

Re Malbec – I have a few Chilean friends down here in Coyhaique who would disagree

Super Rugby round semi-finals: No further upsets

Twas I agree in some ways with the point your making, it’s hard to find a back who has performed really well at the tahs this year.

That being said the only part of foleys game which has been really average has been his in play kicking.

You can’t do much if you throw a good pass and the man on the other end drops it cold… which anyone who has watched all the tahs games this year would agree killed us (Along with our ruck defense and in play kicking – largely foleys fault)

If I were to pick a back line today for the aug 19th test it would be

9.) genia
10.) foley
11.)hodge or dhp
12.) hunt
13.) kerevi
14.) falou
15.) beale

With Powell, tk and one of the many Fijian wingers on the bench

I don’t think foley is out of form at all. Foley and hooper have been by far the most consistent players at the tahs this year.

Yeah but the tahs have been crap I hear you say…

Look through any weekly round up of Australia’s best super rugby players week in and week out this year and you will find foley there or there abouts.

Doesn’t say much about how our teams have performed but foley has the number 10 jersey locked down for good reason.

Michael Cheika names Wallabies train-on squad for Bledisloe Cup

Yeah, fair enough. I’ve seen him play center on many occasions but I’d say you watch more reds than me ’twas. Last year he played more in centers too if I remember correctly.

Like I said though, runs great lines has solid d. Look forward to him getting an opportunity with some of the best aus has to offer.

Michael Cheika names Wallabies train-on squad for Bledisloe Cup

Re magnay – yeah but he runs sick lines and his d is solid. He’s stuck behind kerevi in the pecking order so you know he rides the pine a fair bit.

Re mr positive – thanks for your constructive criticism. It’s great to hear your informed and well structured argument…

Michael Cheika names Wallabies train-on squad for Bledisloe Cup

really happy to see meaks, rona Perese and magney get a crack. They have been fantastic all season. Outside of no real back up for foley I’m pretty happy with this squad. In fact I think our training squad has some unbelievable depth in the backs in particular, outside of flyhalf.

It’s a real shame to see very few here back our national team. Yeah it’s been a crap season but I look at the names there and I see one of the best squads in the world minus some of the best performing talent in the brumbies players.

Can’t wait for august 19 – come get some nz!!!

In the knowledge they would receive the ball back with 3 minutes to play, yes.

Lions series reflections: The day of the Faz

I completely disagree with your comment on Sam warburtons captaining.

Three minutes to go, hit the penalty and get the ball kicked backed to you, hold on to it until you get another penalty or knock it on/take it out of play with the added bonus of the opportunity to score a penalty, field goal or try.

Unfortunately for the lions the all blacks won it back off the kick off.

I would say that the risk involved with a line out are just as risky as a kick off…

Lions series reflections: The day of the Faz

I tend to think that’s where the all blacks lost it on the weekend actually. They took off kaino for an extra back (who put in a belter of a performance it should be said) for the extra width that they didn’t seem to take advantage of. I thought for sure they would turn the screws out wide when they had the lions under the pump for the 3rd quarter but it just didn’t eventuate…

The centres of conundrum at Eden Park

This is probably my favorite comment I’ve read here

Where would the Wallabies be without the Pacific Island connection?

I think we have the talent for sure. I feel like the expectation that we will lose against the best teams is the reason we lose against the best teams. Ultimately us, the fans, is where a positive atmosphere around our national team should begin.

Cheika's All Black nightmare

Personally I see a coach who was the first coach to win in both the northern and southern premier rugby tournaments, with two teams that had historically been very average. He then took a group of players cast as also runs before either tournament began, won the rugby championship, then took the them to the World Cup final. Yeah his press conferences suck but I think hanging the bloke out to dry after one average season is seriously short sighted and quite frankly I’m sick of all this negativity.
