I blame the ref

England's crusade continues

Thorne also won a RL world championship and least one NRL Grand Final.

Who belongs on rugby union's Mount Rushmore?

NYCric should have done the right thing and included a Trigger Warning; something along the lines of
“Warning; the following comment may offend those lacking in a sense of humour”

A tragic lack of planning in cricket

LOL – you’ve been watching the ABs longer than I have !!

Magnificent All Blacks beat Wallabies to win back-to-back Rugby World Cups

Ruckin Oaf,
One of the things that has always impressed me about the All Blacks team.is their humility, both as individuals and as a team. It’s one of the reasons I support them. They provide a good role model for my children. Perhaps your parents may consider something similar ?

ABs supporter here.

I was one of those people, 12 months ago, who thought the Wallabies would struggle to get third place in their pool, let alone make it to the final. Nothing to do with their ability (although I’m always willing to argue the toss about particular players), but because of the toxic state the team culture was in.

Messiah, Steven Moore and the rest of the Wallabies leadership team have done a great and mighty thing over the last 12 months, and that needs to be recognized regardless of today’s result.

All Blacks vs Wallabies highlights: New Zealand claim 2015 Rugby World Cup final

CA3ZAR,
As AB supporters, it is sometimes hard not to gloat when “we” win, to blame the ref or cry foul play when we loose. As true supporters, we should be following ABs lead. Thanks for the reminder.

And a special thanks to the Wallabies. I was one of those who, 12 months ago, genuinely thought they would be lucky to get third place in their pool, let alone all the way to the final. It was not a matter of ability, it was that they had a such a toxic culture, so self centred rather than team oriented. A special salute to Michael Cheika, Steven Moore and the rest of the Wallabies leadership team for what they have done for Rugby in Australia in the last 12 months.

Character and humility: The legacy of the All Blacks

There were a few times when players carrying the ball appeared (on the telly, anyway) to run into their own players. At least twice, I heard Ownens call out something like “tackle commenced” or something similar. How does that affect the interpretation ? Does it mean he was calling the situation a ruck / maul ?

All Blacks relentless in winning the Rugby World Cup

I agree with Sam. I’m an ABs supporter, and I would have called “that” pass back 🙂

Five talking points from the Rugby World Cup final

No Milner-Skudder ?
No Ben Smith ?

I can see why you pick Sanchez over, say Dan Carter, given your running rugby premise, and I would have found a place for Israel Folau before the tournament, but he’s been way below his best this last couple of months.

My pre-final Rugby World Cup XV

Just over 50% of the Oz population are female. Does that mean you reserve 50% of the run-on spots for women ? Then again, say, Nicole Beck (search YouTube for Nicole Beck tackle) would be helpful in defense.

Rugby World Cup Big Questions: The grand finale

You forgot to allow for coaching. Since you’re going back to last century, is it valid to consider that Hansen lost 3-zip to the ABs when coaching Wales, while Cheika (aka The Messiah of Australian Rugby) has a 1 out of 2 record ?

Then again McCaw is a glider pilot, which regularly puts him closer to God (aka Dan Carter) than mere mortals like you I.

This is why the Kiwis are nervous

Problem with your theory is that the Cubs didn’t even make the WS year. See sports.yahoo.com/news/cubs-fans-cringe-curse-strikes-again-series-hopes-073408538–mlb.html

LAIDLAW: If you think you know who wins, you're kidding yourself

There’s a car down road from my house with plates reading GO11AB. I keep thinking ‘Jonah Lomu’ ? In my street ?

Richetty what? It's Richie McCaw, show some respect

For a more scientific, consider that Hansen’s record coaching against the ABs (0 out of 3) is better than the Messiah’s.

The stats you don't see on TV: Rugby World Cup final edition

It was great for the ABs to get the win at Eden Park, but the Wallabies side that night wasn’t even the best available at the time, and barely a shadow of what we have seen the past 6 weeks or so.

As an AB supporter, I’ve wiped that particular game from my form guide.

SPIRO: Game on! Wallabies or All Blacks to take permanent possession of 'Bill'

Breakdown, Red Kev
Someone has already mentioned that Carter played half-back when he was 5. The source was almost definitely https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Carter

Of course, there is no suggestion he was playing for the ABs at the time.

Written by a functional autistic (one effect of which is the need to be pedantic)..

Rugby World Cup final marks the end of an era

I still remember the furore when he was first picked for the ABs in 2001 after only 17 matches for Canterbury (the provincial side, he wasn’t even in the runon side for the Crusaders and played less than 10 minutes Super Rugby that year). Of course, he won MOTM in his first test.

I was going to make a joke about his horrible disciplinary record, but a similar attempt a couple of weeks ago was completely misinterpreted. Suffice to say, 147 test matches and 3 yellow cards.

Rugby World Cup final marks the end of an era

“Australia have beaten NZ already when it was full strength vs full strength”

As an ABs supporter, this is what concerns me. The Eden Park game is useful for rubbing in the face of the haters, but (whether it was deliberate or not) the Wallabies side that night was not a shadow of what has been plaing at the RWC. It wasn’t even the best available then. I don’t pretend to understand the logic or psychology behind the Wallabies selections that night, but for whatever reason, Cheika did not put his best side on the park, and they were rolled.

Do the ABs and their management know this ? I’m sure they do. How will it affect the players (on both sides) ? No idea.

BTW, did you know that Cheika has a better record as a coach against New Zealand than Hansen does ?

The Wallabies are no chance to win the Webb Ellis

“1991, 1999, 2015 – Labor politicians were disgraced. ”

If that was the gold standard for omens, I feel sorry (for the Wallabies) that the RWC is not played every year 🙂

PS, for those playing for the other team, just replace Labour with Coalition.

Five very good reasons the Wallabies will win the Rugby World Cup

“What’s a poor Wallabies supporter to do?”
buy an All Black Jumper 🙂

BTW, History is on the Wallabies side.
1) All Blacks only win RWC finals played in New Zealand.
2) Wallabies only win RWC finals played in the UK.
3) The first time the ABs won the RWC was 1987. The Wallabies won the following one, played at Twickers. The second time the ABs won the RWC was 2011. The Wallabies are playing in the following final (2015) also at Twickenham.
4) Coach Cheika has won championships in the Northern Hemisphere before. By comparison, when Coach Hansen was in charge of Wales in 2003, they lost every game in the 6 Nations.

The final, and most damning statistic of all;
5) As a coach, Hansen has lost more times (3) to the ABs than Michael Cheika (1)

Despite all that, my heart says the ABs by 10

Kia,
Nice work, thanks.

Inside the Jerry Collins memorial clash

Good stuff. Especially the Farrell / Giteau incident.
If Giteau wasn’t in the way, there was no point. If he was in the way, it should have been Penalty to England for obstruction.

Good to see you back.

The Rugby World Cup has come of age

It’s easier to say the Poms choked than it is to say how well the Wallabies played 🙂
