Top stuff bjosh. Just wish my Dees would move from Casey into the G! Then I’d be able to actually see them at a home game instead of hoping they get a game at Prinny Park or Whitten Oval (I’ll even take Moorabbin or Port Melbourne).
p.s. as demonstrated, there’s always going to haters- the women’s game will thrive regardless.

You should watch AFLW this season: A letter to my fellow men

I reckon there’s a bit of both. Refs more likely to send people for 20 minutes, players not as focussed on their technique as maybe they should be.

Cash hungry thinking vs. deep pocket fears: What's driving the north-south divide on 20 minute red cards

Shouldn’t matter if he was looking or not. If a defender is not running to the ball and gets in the way of an oppo player making a legit run towards the ball, that should be an escort. Don’t underestimate the intelligence of coaching- they are all coached to conveniently be in the way in front of the ball drop around bombs and short kick-offs. Get rid of it!

NRL admits bunker got Cowboys call wrong: 'We don't believe there was enough to award a penalty'

Raiders fan here- I guess I’m just sick of the lack of consistency around what is and isn’t an escort. Officials are all different on what is a pen and isn’t.

NRL admits bunker got Cowboys call wrong: 'We don't believe there was enough to award a penalty'

All of the Tigers players around Laurie were running to block the channels of any Cowboy player hoping to challenge- anyone of them could have been called for an escort had a Cowboy run into them instead. Indeed Townsend was blowing up for an even clearer escort on him even before he saw Feldt down. How the ref and touchies on the field missed it is what should be outrageous. And Annesley throwing Klein under the bus there is sadly par for the course.

Nothing about the Eels this year would surprise me. They could win the comp and I would go ‘of course Parra won this year, makes sense’. Or miss the finals.

Every team’s run home: Best and worst final-round scenarios as Broncos need miracle to make playoffs

Eels are way to high here- they could easily drop to 7/8 based on their form and draw.

That pen after the game was ridiculous and everyone else at the ground knew it- Raiders player didn’t even move, Hughes just ran straight into him. Successfully milked it until it was turned over too.

NRL talking points Round 18: Fake injuries and fake contenders while Penrith do as they please

New South- See Clyde, Monaghan and Dugan.

The Maroons selection that killed Origin's soul and made it a joke

Agree that Hunt was possibly square- that’s a 50/50. It’s his flop on the tackle before that, for which the 6 again was called, which is the real problem. Don’t need a try-scoring opportunity to have been denied for a professional foul to be called- although that arguably appears to be the high bar set by V’landys for last minute pens (aside from high contact of course- Matt lodge anyone?).

Six-again exposed: Hunt should’ve been binned for exploiting loophole as Annesley admits ref error on crucial call

But they do Adam- consider a fullback lying on a player after a break to allow an extra second or so for his team to get onside, or a flop from a chasing defender to help out in the same situation. Refs have no problem giving a pen and 10 in the bin in the first 78 minutes. It’s all because it was in the last 10 seconds and had a massive bearing on the outcome. Refs are not empowered by the administration to make these hard calls for fear of a positive ruling based on a crap rule determining a result.

Spot on- seem to recall a big fuss being made for his first ton north of London this season.

UK Reaction: 'Bazball' has completely transformed England's cricket side in one series

Big Papa has looked gassed for the past 6 weeks or so with The Milk. Needs a rest so I’m very happy that he only played 20 minutes.

Maroons player ratings: From 9.9 to middle of the road for Munster, Cobbo back to earth with a thud

Not so sure about soccer having no heading in the future. All of the old players with brain injuries were heading heavy leather balls their whole career- not the light synthetic ones these days. Maybe in 15 years’ time when the players who started junior soccer in the early 80s (when the leather ball was fully phased out) start to hit sixty and beyond, we’ll see how much of a difference the ball has made.
All for stopping kids under 12 from heading though- let their neck muscles develop a bit more to allow for proper technique.

Never underestimate how crap village cricketers can be!

You did notice the keeper dropped the catch right?

Dunno that it’s just you guys. As a Dees fan I’m now in the same box for the next few years. Watching them is finally fun and not torture, and if it all goes to pot, at least we had 2021. I imagine Doggies fans are the same re 2016.

My relationship with football hasn't been the same since the 2017 grand final

True, but that’s where the power side of it comes in. The top teams have power and strength in a clearance that they can exit out the front and get quick ball into the forward line, or like the Dees, just slot them from 50 after running past an underpowered midfield. The Dons have to go sideways or back first as they can’t win with power in the contest.

The Bombers' big problem? Their midfield is too small and too soft

Maybe look at Aussie Rules Footy and go for a 30 minute half plus time on- i.e clock stops and you’ll get 60 minutes of ball-in play time guaranteed.

The times they are a-changin: The truth about what impact rugby's infuriating stoppages are having on action

Heady days indeed Matt. Leipana at it’s best.

Hey,
The draw has alreday been done for the playoffs.

My assumption is the Roos play UAE in a one-off game at a neutral Middle East venue (although Japan or Korea as natural venue would be brilliant), and then the lucky South American team one-off at the qualification finals in Qatar. Chile v Uruguay in last round to likely settle 5th place- should be a cracker.

Socceroos' World Cup hopes take hit after Oman draw

Hopefully Manuka gets some warm-up games as compo.

T20 World Cup 2022: Host cities announced for Aussie event

Surely Iran and Korea from the other group- they are both way ahead of Syria and UAE. Iran is the best team in Asia at the moment.

And the Roos should comfortably account for all but Japan over the whole 10 games. I’d only be worried if they have to hub the games in 2 blocks of mini tournaments in Saudi itself. We’ve shown we can now get full points in the middle east regularly.

I agree though that Vietnam will be a surprise packet- they have been very good at youth level the last few years. They’ll qualify for 2026 i reckon with the expanded WC.

World Cup draw yields plenty of familiar faces for the Socceroos

Jakovich kicked 8 behinds when he kicked 11 goals against North in 1991. You’d have to think someone has hit double figures before, with something like 6.11.

Not a bad idea at all Arnab- Sydney Test Cricket is the toughest non-first class cricket you’ll find.
