In what extend? I simply think they can do a lot better with that list and I don’t think May’s approach will fix what they need to work on. They have the best list on paper, followed by Brisbane.

'Should have smoked them': May claims Dees 'so much better than Pies', says qualifying final loss 'f--king hurts'

Exactly as you said, a few things were dinsfunctional. Frustrating part with Melbourne is that they seem to not focus on this, beleiving that having a talented list will be sufficient. Sorry Steele, you don’t win a game with more inside 50s, same with soccer, you don’t win with more possession. Efficiency is key, and that’s what Melbourne needs to work on. If they amanage to do this and have in my opinion a more humble approach, then they may be almost unstoppable.

'Should have smoked them': May claims Dees 'so much better than Pies', says qualifying final loss 'f--king hurts'

I would also add the reasoning doesnt make sense either….Last year as an example. First final Collingwood vs Geelong. Collingwood was perhaps maringally better and spent more time in front, but Cats got the job done and in the end were the better team. Then Collingwood looked at how to improve, the mentality “we good enough to do it again” never works in any elite sport. Also funny to hear that froma guy whom derailed their season last year at a restaurant fight…

'Should have smoked them': May claims Dees 'so much better than Pies', says qualifying final loss 'f--king hurts'

This is hilarious and Melbourne needs to take a good look at themselves as yes given their list what they have achieved is not that great…

Anyhow, Pies finished 1st, Melbourne 4th. Both teams won one game.
Last year we won agains them
2021 desite a very average season, we still won against them (Bucks last game as a coach)
They won 2020 and we won 2019 and 2018…

Anyhow, that just shows our records against them is pretty good. They’ve lost 4 finals in a row and all he sais is “we are the best and we will win” ? Good luck champ, but I don’t think that’s gonna cut it.

'Should have smoked them': May claims Dees 'so much better than Pies', says qualifying final loss 'f--king hurts'

Common sense would see all players who have participated in the finals awarded with a medal

COMMENT: Awarding premiership medals to the entire winning list would ruin them for everyone

It’s silly…the rest of the top 6 looks good but I don’t know why he finishes first. There was also a game where J.Cameron has 25 disposals and 6 goals for 1 vote only…
Anyhow, it is good for punters! I’ve backed him at $13 knowing with this system he would have all the chances in the world.

COMMENT: Lachie Neale's baffling win proves it's time to take Brownlow voting off the umps

A few years in the wilderness ? Since 2018 it is GF, PF, SF – nothing- PF and now GF. A few of our players have Grand Final experience.

It’s easy to make it go both ways :

– last few time Brisbane won, no games were played at the G.
– We were without key personal – first match up there we had no ruckman ( both Cameron and Cox were out) and again missing key players for the game at Marvel.

To me it’s 50/50, we probably have more final or big game expérience. Brisbane record at the MCG is not good at all. However I’d say they have a slightly better list and McStay is a big miss. They’ve won the last few games but as I said it was on a different ground and with some personel unavailable. We get to rest one more day as well, all little things matter.
Collinwgood x factor remains DeGoey, he could tear the game apart. If Brisbane can limit his influence then they will probably get the win…

Finals Fix: One quarter from hell couldn't keep the Lions out of the big dance - but another might just cost them the flag

Incredible how the hate for Collingwood make some of you sounds delusional . I could then go on about the 2x50m for the Giants, Cox being help, pushes in the back or many tackles where it was clearly ball and umps said play on…
Mistakes were both ways, and in the end 12 free kicks each. The umps didn’t carry us over but our midfield and especially De Goey. More inside 50s, clearances 44 to 26…
GWS was a bit cooked in the end…6 date turn around? Well you need some advantage for finishing first otherwise no point.
I also dare to say McStay didn’t get injured then we would probably have scored more.

Haters will Hate but this season best team is in the GF. This doesn’t mean the Pies will win, but it is once again an amazing season.

Finals Fix: The Pies were down and out in the prelim. How they turned it around is the stuff of greatness

Correct decision, haters will hate so let’s move on. Several players or ex players have spoken about this, so I won’t spend too much time listening to over frustrated rival supporters
It’s unfortunate for Brayshow but they show after kicking he also went sideways on Maynard’s line, collision was inevitable , a contact sport where accidents happen.

Maynard FREED: Pie cleared of rough conduct charge after marathon Tribunal hearing

Lions were great but we were missing our best 3 players…how would Melbourne perform without Petracca, Oliver and May? Too many outs to compete with a more hungry Brisbane team. Our 23 should look different comes September

Footy Fix: How the Lions dismantled sluggish Pies... and proved this is the best chance they'll ever get for a flag

Bombers are impressive, they’ve been competitive in almost all their games…big game vs Geelong this weekend.
Re Daicos, I think you are pushhimg a bit too far. Yes, Quaynor was also BOG for me but then Nick and JDG are just behind. Nick was again very clean and kicked 2…
Dogs need more speed, perhaps another midfield and not Lobb with their current forward line.

Also, bad luck for the Saints, looked like almost a certain top 8 with their fixture but now with a few more injuries that will be difficult to achieve.

Six Points: Brilliant Bombers can dare to dream, the best tag ever, and why Daicos was Friday's fifth-best Pie

Isaac had a massive pre season, going another level physically. Him and Noble combine really well, and set up our game. I thought Isaac was best on ground yesterday.

Footy Fix: Forget Darcy Moore - THIS is the real star of Collingwood's electric back six

Interesting load of crap…he had 10 tackles, more than anybody else on ground. Have you actully watched the game? Everytime we have a close game, he goes in the midfield or foward….our plan is to find him and create space as his ball use is elite.

Six Points: Unsung heroes driving Pies to glory, Eagles set a benchmark, and 2023's best sub performance

I think Essendon deserves some credit for their effort so far. A close loss vs Collingwood, two vs Port Adelaide….they are not far off. For two years in a row they lose a game after the sirene, if they can polish their last minute or two they will be a dangerous team.

Bulldods are shaping up nicely and could be a good surprise, the opposite is happening to Melbourne. Plenty of footy and inside 50s, but can’t score. It will cost them a lot if they can’t rectify this.

I think the top 3 is almost locked in, let’s see what will be the final order. However there isn’t much from 4th to 12th, so I reckon % will play its part.

Six Points: Unsung heroes driving Pies to glory, Eagles set a benchmark, and 2023's best sub performance

That is true, however it was round 4, in Brisbane and the Pies had a few players out and no ruckman available for this game. It will be interesting to see the next time we play against them, which is oddly at Marvel stadium in a few weeks.

Bulldogs have a great mid and forward line, just not sold on their backline but they can score heaviy and quickly. Pies haven’t played at Marvel this year either, so Friday night should be a great and close game. Probably a shame it’s at Marvel, at the MCG you’d have 70k + people attending given the form of both teams, but I’d imagine Marvel to be almost sold out.

Six Points: Unsung heroes driving Pies to glory, Eagles set a benchmark, and 2023's best sub performance

On track ? How many games have you watched ? Even their win vs Gold Coast was a blessing…not on track at all and will need serious improvement

The Demons are on track for premiership glory - they just need everything to click

Hi Tim,
Sorry but you cannot ignore De Goey. Only missed 1 game and probably our best player.

The Roar's 2023 mid-season AFL All Australian team: Why this underrated Port star should be an AA bolter

They will be. Saying that the only lucky win is Adelaide. St kilda was comfortable until a brain fade in the last two minutes , and we destroyed Essendon in the last quarter.

Interesting to see if we see Nick Daicos playing more midfield with JDG out for a few games

Six Points: De Goey response a ridiculous overreaction, Port's perfect half, and the wildest round in years

Kane Cornes should be banned from media, he always goes on a witch hunt. JDG bump was careless, its a mistake and there is nothing malicious in it ( I can’t recall him being a dirty player at all ) . It should be 2 to 3 games max and move on…
Cats and Tigers waking up at the same time, the race for spots from 6 to 8 is going to be incredible.
Interesting to see that both Gold Coast and Adelaide are a top 8 when playing at home and a bottom 8 when travelling.
Lastly, please no more Carlton on prime time. I reckon the future looks better for North Melbourne at this rate.

Six Points: De Goey response a ridiculous overreaction, Port's perfect half, and the wildest round in years

In soccer, players now get a yellow card for diving. They canalso get a red if they already have a yellow. Not sure what the best solution is but looking at a way to Penalise diving players as it’d merit and is a good idea ????

Six Points: There's one way to stamp out floppers, 2023's dirtiest act, and enjoying the most even season in years

Time to wake up mate, Ginnivan now keeps getting high for no free kick. It’s also up to the defender to lower the knees and br smart…

Six Points: There's one way to stamp out floppers, 2023's dirtiest act, and enjoying the most even season in years

Amazing journey from Mason 👍
His ruck work has improved heaps and difference between his high and low is not as big as it once was. Hope he has an amazing game on Saturday !

As Mason Cox raises the bat, there's more to come from the big Texan

My personal crystal ball :
– Melbourne – with Port missing a few players they should get this one
– Swans becase North
– Doggies – Could be wet, few outs for Adelaide. Was originally tipping the Crows but weather and injuries made me change my mind.
– Cats – Few players back and I am not sold on Freo…yet
– Lions will get the job done
– Tigers – both teams have injuries but I see Richmond having a touch of extra class – Stringer vs Martin should be good
– Hawks because West Coast
– Pies
– Giants – Toby Greene is back that’s the only reason why I tip them

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions Round 10: Sir Doug Nicholls Round is here

And Richmond 😁

Six Points: The move to save the Swans' season, the worst thing a fan can do, and why the Blues are closer than you think

Stop with those stats Macca, it doesn’t mean much. Collijwgood had excelled in transition and chaotic football, Carlton does a few things right but their last part of the execution is extremely poor. Either poor deliveries inside 50s or lack of contest upfront ? Or both ?
