Great post Kanga.

FFA suspends grassroots football as Wellington Phoenix head to Australia

Like the players you lack the education on the issue to have an informed opinion. Like the players you shouldn’t be given a choice. Non essential activities and businesses must close.

The lives of the estimated 50-150k Australians that may soon be lost are far more important than playing football.

Well said Kanga

How do these obviously unimportant elderly people get COVID 19 Micko? From exposure to others, often healthy hosts. Sympathies to you when your parent/grandparents dies in the coming weeks. If only we’d slowed transmission by social isolation, the only way to control this. We would have had an ICU bed for them.

Because the government have been so negligent in their response, transmission is going at a phenomenal rate, and will only worsen.

You realise that once ICUs are full that younger people who need the beds for non COVID issues won’t get them?

I actually agree. FFA have made the right decision with grassroots, based on the need for social isolation. Unfortunately logic has gone out of the window when it comes to the A-league. Let’s make this quite clear, while the risks to younger people are lower, there are still significant risks, yet here we are, ludicrously going ahead, players going through airports and being in close contact.
By next week I’d expect schools to be shut and non essential businesses closing, gatherings of more than 10 people banned.
The government have showed appalling decision making, and FFA have joined in.
Judging by what I have seen at work these last 2 days the $hit is getting very very real. Worrying about finishing a football season? Worry about living to the end of the football season. Stay home everyone

The AFL have handled this far better than the A-league or NRL. Clear and decisive guidance with the greater good in mind

Well done, from an A-league fan

AFL season to be reduced over coronavirus fears, but no decision on Round 1 until tomorrow

Ha! I wouldn’t have had to tell you off. Just a withering glare would have been enough (Like the one Fowler gives the 4th official all game)

What happens if there's no more A-League?

We haven’t even started Griffo….

A-League and W-League seasons to continue without fans amid coronavirus outbreak

Take the stairs every day. It’ll halve your chances of ever going to hospital

What happens if there's no more A-League?

Will Fox go under? Easy to see 3-6 months without any sport anywhere in the world. How many people will keep Fox for Eastenders? (Aside from my mum obviously)

What happens if there's no more A-League?

During Ernie’s tenure Lawrie Mckinna stated publicly there was money for 2 more players. He also stated Ernie wasn’t interested…

Enter Ibini and Ledley

What happens if there's no more A-League?

I don’t expect one personally. I’m happy to have the Jets keep my money to stay afloat

What happens if there's no more A-League?

I’m pretty sure I read the government were suspending mortgage repayments in a country? Italy or the US?

What happens if there's no more A-League?

As always I agree with you/me 🙂

What happens if there's no more A-League?

And that will be by the end of the week

A-League and W-League seasons to continue without fans amid coronavirus outbreak

And during that time they’ll come.i to contact with their kids who have been at school etc. This will be ongoing

What happens if there's no more A-League?

Thanks Redondo (or am I talking to myself? ).

It’s potentially going to be a crisis beyond anything where ever seen before. The health care system is going to do very well not to collapse totally should the worst case scenario eventuate.

Stay at home people. Let’s try and slow down transmission enough to give us time to find a vaccination and spread the load on hospital services.
Sports teams don’t need to go through airports and fly to games. It’s NON ESSENTIAL.

Anyone who thinks it’s “just the flu” might want to read about cytokine storms, remembering that there won’t be enough ICU beds to treat everyone…

What happens if there's no more A-League?

Jets have 10k members. The club have our money regardless if we turn up

What happens if there's no more A-League?

Contained currently. All beds are full, but with the normal stuff. I suspect that will change with the Knights playing yesterday. I don’t think COVID will abide by the weekend amnesty.

I’ll be shocked if schools aren’t closing by next week

What happens if there's no more A-League?

You can’t come back after a week. It’ll be rolling isolations

What happens if there's no more A-League?

With the exception when I’ve been away travelling, this is the first round of A-league fixtures I’ve not watched. I probably saw 30 minutes of 2 games but switched off.

The season will be off by the end of the week. The games are redundant, essentially friendlies. I’m staggered and disappointed that they went ahead at all. Disappointed in the government’s ridiculous “play this weekend but stop Monday” policy. Disappointed that the FFA didn’t decide that transmitting a virus that could hospitalise 20% of the nation’s population was less important than getting a few thousand to a game.

Social isolation is the only way to stop us getting to a point where your parents/grandparents are refused ICU care because they’ve prioritised a younger COVID case.

By next week players will be testing positive and the season will be off. Sport is irrelevant at the moment

What happens if there's no more A-League?

Great response Buddy. Good to see someone has their priorities straight.

What happens if there's no more A-League?

They won’t be able.yo claim “lack of content” because a global health crisis shuts down the league

What happens if there's no more A-League?

Agree Roberto

What happens if there's no more A-League?

You need to slow the transmission, flatten the curve, give time for a vaccine. Spread out the demand on hospitals. Otherwise the kill rate will go through the roof

AFL to be played behind closed doors amid coronavirus fears
