Thanks for the memories Ben and all the best for the future, you will be remembered as one of the great “Heart and Soul” Shinboners with Schimma and Archer.

AFL News: Shuey, Cunnington make call on retirement, Swans move on from Buddy era, Port want answers over umpiring

North Melbourne won’t have too many wins this season, but they will win the Rising Star with Sheezel and Goal Of The Year for Paul Curtis’ goal against Sydney. 😊

Six Points: Why Ashcroft should still win Rising Star, and a message for Collingwood fans

While I’m not confident, I am hopeful that with the return of LDU, North won’t be thrashed and that our recently strong performances will continue against the Crows. It won’t happen this week, but it would be nice to get a least one win for Ratten before Clarko returns.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions Round 16: Huzzah, the byes are done!

My understanding is the woman in question was a Canterbury plant who faked the allegation in an attempt to have Brown removed from this weekend’s game, and Abdo fell for it. 😊 😊

Why NRL should revisit no fault stand-down policy in the wake of Brown allegations

If it was a North Melbourne mistake.

EXPLAINED: Incredibly rare interchange breach breaks North Melbourne hearts - here's why it was paid

This has been one monumental stuff up from the very start and the fact that both the Hawthorn Football Club and Jeff Kennett haven’t been investigated for their incompetence is every bit as concerning as the original allegations.

Clarkson stand-down the inevitable consequence of racism investigation botched from start to finish

McDonald made contact with the ball which went 10 rows back into the stand, the contact with McKay was purely accidental. McKay tried to milk a free but failed, it was the only time the umpires didn’t take the bait from Carlton’s big two.

Footy Fix: This record stat shows how Blues butchered the Roos - but why did it take a half to try it?

I wouldn’t say the say the umpires were “hot on the wihistle” the whole match, Goldstein copped one in the throat that was missed and the head high on Zurhaar was impossible to miss yet somehow four umpires managed to do so. They were hot in the Carlton forward 50, but Luke warm in the North forward 50.

I would like Moses to stay, he has been our best halfback since Sterlo, but not if we are going to pay the amount some have suggested. There is no way we can build a solid team if such a large sum is used on our halves.

Like it or not, Moses can take all the time he needs to make one of the biggest decisions of his life

My fearless five.
1. The Illawarra/St. George Dragons win this year’s spoon.
2. Canterbury’s improvement is not as great as many believe, and they still finish outside the top 10.
3. Roosters finish minor premiers but are eliminated in straight sets.
4. Ding Dong the Witch is dead. The drought is broken. PARRA ARE PREMIERS!
5. I party hard for three months. Which for someone who was a teenager when they last won means staying up until 10.30 instead of 10 and perhaps having a drop of alcohol for the first time since their 21st. 😊

Dolphins avoid spoon, Panthers miss the GF, Burton on Dally M trajectory, Tigers rising: NRL 2023 predictions

I think our Captain has a good reason to be optimistic this season, new coach, new game plan, improved fitness, the return of Cunnington and some emerging young talent returning from injury plagued 2022. I don’t think we will improve enough to make the finals, but I would think 6 wins and a percentage in mid 80’s would be a positive first season under Clarko.

New North captain 'most optimistic I've been' for a new season under coach Clarkson

It’s hard to know the appropriate course of action when you don’t know all the facts, and at this stage these are only allegations, he hasn’t been found guilty, but I do think Dr Hood has handled the situation fairly well to this point, although I agree with some who believe he should have been stood down earlier. If these allegations are proven true then I hope he never sets foot in my football again.

Kangaroos star stepping away from club as more 'serious and confronting allegations' of poor behaviour emerge

Almost three quarters of the North Melbourne list is under 24, the heavy lifting has been done, now is the time to be a little more targeted in how the list is improved. We have a few players who should be retiring at the end of 2023 that will need replacing and perhaps one or two younger players don’t make it, but I will be surprised if Clarkson makes more than 6 or 7 list changes a year, especially if our first round picks from the last couple of years prove to be as good as the position in the draft they were selected suggests.

2023 Best 23s: Clarko faces his toughest ever challenge - turning North around

That’s an interesting thought, some people believe we find ourselves in our current predicament because we have done the big cull twice in the last seven seasons, losing over 2000 games experience in 2016 and then shedding 35 players in the last three seasons. But not you, you believe we need to go again before we give any of the youngsters on our list a chance to prove themselves? Harsh.

2023 Best 23s: Clarko faces his toughest ever challenge - turning North around

An interesting take on 2023 for the world’s greatest football club. Firstly, I don’t think Ziebell will play a great part in 2023, I don’t think there is a position for him in our best 23 and he may even retire midway through the year (before the mid-season draft) but more likely it will be at the end of the year. I thought Bailey Scott was one of the few bright spots for us last season playing on the wing, and I would hope he is given the opportunity to continue in that role, he has the speed and the endurance and his is one of our better kicks into the forward 50. We do still appear a little light for across the half back line, Stephenson was tried last season and looked okay at times, looked lost at times as well. You didn’t mention Lachie Young who I thought improved greatly as the season progressed and Archer and Goater are both young and inexperienced, but both are very determined and have been tracking very well during the preseason. Unlike you, I wasn’t very impressed with Xerri at all, he is a big, lumbering, clumsy ruckman who drops easy marks, has no penetrations with his kicks and for a man of that size is easily bumped out of position in contested situations, hopefully a preseason under Clarkson will see some improvement, but at this stage I’m starting with Goldstein, who is still one of the best rucks in the game, and having CCJ starting on the bench. As for the forward line I don’t think you are too far off, I’m not sure Wardlaw will get a game early, he may have to wait a few rounds to be given a chance, but it wouldn’t surprise if he starts in forward 50. A lot of North fans have high hopes for Eddie Ford who has shown a bit in his first eight games but has been a little injury prone early in his career, he may be given the first shot this season or Powell or Phillips may start forward and work their way into the midfield rotation. Overall, I think it’s a little difficult to determine North’s best 23 as almost half the list have played less than 25 games, so Clarkson and his team will have a lot of work to do, but with two winnable games in the first three rounds I hope we get off to a good start and can avoid an unwanted three-peat.

Adelaide may honour Erin Phillips for her services to Basketball and Australian Rules.

Which Aussie sportswomen should be immortalised with statues?

Welcome to North Harry & George, that is one hell of a young midfield you will be forming at Arden Street. Along with LDU, Phillips, Powell and Scott you should be a strong combination in years to come.

Giants get their (Cad)man, Ashcroft officially a Lion as 2022 draft night 1 unfolds

The Bombers have won nothing, it was obvious from his lack of enthusiasm when selected that in a year or two he will be back with his mates Wardlaw and Sheezel. 😊

WOW! That is some real in-depth reporting Josh, did you even watch the games or is this article based on your quick scan of the stats sheet. The AFLW and the other women’s sports deserve better than the third-rate coverage that is common on this website.

AFLW semi-finals wrap: Only positives for Tigers and Pies despite defeat, Roos and Crows deserved preliminary finalists

I’ve read some dumb things in my 50+ years on this rock, but Mr Miller can take home the golden statue for dumbest ever. Knee injuries have the potential to be career ending, yet you think a 22-year-old kid should go back on the park and risk further damage and potentially his livelihood for a T20 trophy. He gave it go, which was probably a risky proposition in itself and did the right thing pulling out after that one delivery because he couldn’t continue putting his weight on that injured knee. A smart move for him, and a smart move for Pakistan, their future looks bright.

Busted knee or not, Pakistan needed Shaheen Afridi to play through the pain in the World Cup final

The Renegades and Stars are garbage in both WBBL and BBL and have been for most of their existence, it’s time to merge the clubs and bring in a new team from Canberra.

WBBL08: Round 1 wrap-up

I find it interesting the coach’s votes haven’t been announced yet, they usually come out Monday afternoon, I can only assume that Jassie Garner got another 10 votes and has won the award and the AFLW don’t want to announce it with a week still to go.

I watched every Round 9 AFLW game, so you didn’t have to

WHY is there no talk of St. Kilda being relocated to Tassie? These guys are perfect for relocation, they are a mess. They are in greater debt than North Melbourne ever were, no coach, a list that may be the worst in the AFL, a board that appears even more diabolical than Essendon’s, and only five supporters who were alive the last time they won a Premiership, and four of them were in nappies. Sign the relocation papers McLaughlan, they are primed to go.

St Kilda sack Ratten three months after re-signing: 'We can't let those regrets get in way of making right decision'

We do need our youngsters to take the next step and I’m confident that enough of them will that we can be competitive this season and win enough games to show we are heading in the right direction.

It's not all doom and gloom at North Melbourne

Won’t really know for another 5-10 years, but I’m happy we rid ourselves of a cry baby. We now need to capitalise on this and select Sheezel and either Wardlaw or Tsatas in the draft next month.
