It’s the right culture for us at the tournament.

Five things we learned: 'F--king do your job' - Moment Skelton proved Eddie right, Wallabies' rivals put on show

Agree.
I do worry that Fiji will learn from mistakes and will be massive next game. Will be tough, but I believe we are good learners too.

'Officiating killed us': Fiji fury over 'grotesque' refereeing as Semi Radradra fumble lets Wales off hook

Yes he made some poor decisions esp facing 14 men, but I put it down to being over-programmed by EJ.
To me he is faithfully sticking to the game plan. Too much.
He also made some good kicks, was very unselfish.
Not his best game but I haven’t lost faith in his read of the game both A + D.
I think he can continue to build for class.
Dunno how much chop & change in direction he will now get from EJ: hope not much.

'Doing their thing, playing free:' Wallabies smash Georgia to kick-start RWC campaign in style

I agree with Hoops: smile.
The huge occasion, the pressure, the youth, should have death wobbled us but instead we won.
Lots of areas to improve but getting that 1st WC win out of the way is huge.

See Argies by contrast: need a few games to settle in.

Gordon is doing well, played the game plan, has a lot more to show, played unselfishly, should not be replaced by BD at 10.

An element of ‘saving’ Frost and Kellaway by the sounds?

CONFIRMED: Wallabies' two-decade first for RWC opener as Eddie explains Donaldson's selection

Alas, but…there could be surprises!
Great writing, welcome back!

SPIRO ZAVOS: The best team in the tournament, not necessarily the best team, will win the 2023 RWC

I’m cognitively dissonant too, the other way around/mirror view: (a) I like this team and Eddie’s choices; (b) if we make it to the semis it will be FANTASTIC (not a pass mark or a Rennie given).
Do I then want us to win the semi and go further? 1000%. (Edge of our seats, and some).

'It's everything': The craziness and stupidity that must be addressed if Eddie is to be proven right

Nice one. Wallabies defence is indeed a ‘work-on’.

World Cup Top 10 Power Rankings: Wallabies' missing piece, ABs still possess super power, and why France edge Ireland

Why is our wide defence so poor – I’m not enough of a leaguie to figure that one out

Enjoy the opportunity, debutants – I’m not sure how many more there will be as Wallabies enter must-win mode

Anemoia galore from Wallabies critics

This is is the best side for now, and they have so much more potential than the flatliners

(But please improve the wide defence, mauls, loose play discipline, some line-outs & kicks from tee)

Studs and duds: Eddie's 'wrongheaded' selections, Carter '100 percent a concern', 'weapon' fires at last

(bellow, bellow, moooo, baaaaah) – hark, i hear the geniuses stormin’ down the hill…

Blasphemy!

OO, you must be mad! Get thee to a nunnery

Mehrts seems available – he should pop in and do a Hansen, just on the tees

I hope someone else beats the Boks, ’cause not even this optimist can see us doing it!
(Comment can apply almost no matter what team I go for)

Go the Wallabies
Omg the Boks
Nice one Roigard

Comment: Eddie has rolled the World Cup dice by selecting key men in high stakes 'practice match' - but he had to

… copping a flogging in the shadow of a tree full of galahs

Van Nek seems bigger than Talakai, but just body shape I guess? Both big enough?

Good name too

Thanks Harry. If we dilute ‘The leader as coach’ to ‘The coach who just coaches’, maybe that’s Eddie. Maybe not leading in the traditional sense, re-shuffling cards and not wedded to continuity or ‘staunchly seeing things through’. Tough for assistants! A unique cat, an eclectic underdog, pulling a rabbit out (hopefully), sly as a fox …Any animal similes left?

Beaut writing again, truly. But was the EJ library sentence drafted by a rank Roar groupie? EJ the megalomaniac chip on shoulder I don’t listen to anyone guy? That’s what he sounds like at press conferences, to ears who innately dislike him, but I reckon his library is full of obscure, under-rated Sports tacticians and teachers, coalescing around a singular theme of ‘extraordinary team upsets and how to beat the best’. He’s the perpetual underdog, always learning. Suits this team and WC!

I coulda been a contender
