As much as i think Luai is a talent, to say Penrith revolves around Luai and not Cleary (and to a lesser extent Yeo) is just fraudulent

'Souths was a bigger challenge than this': Richo combative over Tigers task - and talks up Luai chances

As a bears fan I blame Ken Arthurson!

Is the NRL to blame for Jarryd Hayne's fumble woes?

They need to keep it to once a year to keep it fresh. And yeah, give the wild a game. maybe go back in time to a calgary / edmonton game – break the monotony of caps / pens and the original six teams (sans rangers whoc if memory serves me correctly havent had a go recently)

Is the NHL’s Winter Classic losing its appeal?

Keep fighting the good fight Beowulf. I hope to see them back in the top flight one day…………..

My kids friends ask me about the footy jerseys i still wear – “which team is that?” Saddens me.

If Manly and Newcastle are smart, they’d be pushing for CCB admission – derby games are always the best

Stand aside, here come the mighty Bears

Daniel – Newcastle and the central coast are both in NSW

Relegation from A-League won't happen any time soon

Contemplated them too, but would have definitely come across as sexist – eg vixens – what can you say about that whilst keeping it clean

A not so serious look at the code wars

I think in the the likes of the EPL and Serie-A the colour nicknames tend to make more sense, as teams aren’t born with a moniker. However, the trend in Australia is to give them the nickname from the start as a way to distinguish their brand. Give teams enough time and the fans will come up with one. Just means that in their infancy (such as the a-league) often people are lazy and call them the reds / blues because they can’t come up with anything better.

A not so serious look at the code wars

Not knowing NZ history as well as Australia’s, didn’t want to offend by saying Warriors is $%^$^%@. Probably has more meaning to the locals.

Instead, what about Kakapo’s – tend to stink much like the warriors play, although they did enough today against a feeble rabbitohs side

Of all codes on this sites, id rank my fave as Cricket, then a league, NRL, AFL then Rugby. Results were almost the opposite!

I’m a sports fan, but i expected the NRL to “win” before i started. Was surprised when the AFL got up.

Felt a bit bad giving them the same scores as the Broncos, but lets face it they are Ferals. And with the way they are playing, to quote Roy & HG “If it’s feral its in peril”

Big Bruce had me rolling in the aisles, reminded me of a former manager of mine. Top shelf as always Vic!

Three ways to spice up the NRL mid-season

A United European Cup?

Unfortunately DoW i think you are right about PNG & Pacific Islands. But it would do wonders for the local economy, as well as the people. I wish the league would take an approach like the AFL is with GWS, and see these areas as a long term prospect. Unfortunately they are more interested in $ now, rather than a long term vision.

If you ran NRL, where would you put teams?

Reminds me of the old NRL nicknames – Wests Fruitpickers & Canterbury Berries 😉

If you ran NRL, where would you put teams?

If you ran NRL, where would you put teams?

I agree with what you are saying, and it won’t happen and i don’t think it should either. The history of the game is important, and not something we should cast aside. I intended this merely as a hypothetical.

However, there are too many Sydney teams. I believe there should be relocation of the existing teams (Eg Cronulla to Sunshine Coast), but this alienates fans of that club. It is better than the folding or merging of the club though. As a North Sydney fan, i can vouch for this personally. Keep fighting the good fight Col.

If you ran NRL, where would you put teams?

I don’t think Adelaide has the population with an appetite for league to support a team fulltime. The odd game played there similar to the way Cronulla has done would have to suffice.

If you ran NRL, where would you put teams?

Steal Tassie’s thunder and call them the devils. That’ll stir up the southern state, seeing as they should be getting this franchise.

Giants, Rangers, Pride, Stallions? GWS' name game
