Mbye is having a blinder.

Canterbury Bulldogs vs Penrith Panthers: NRL live scores, blog

No offence, but why shouldn’t we? The scheduling we can generally agree is terrible, sure, but it’s not every single week for the same teams so how hard is it for fans to make an effort 3 or 4 times a year?

It’d be nice to see him ‘ride a wave of confidence’ and become one of those ‘genuine threat’ players.

Sounds like you’ve put your hand up for the job of creating a weekly ‘C Graders of the Week’ team. The 17 most likely to be demoted to the Thirsty Thirds division at the round’s completion.

I don’t think the penalty for having it stripped while in the act of scoring should be a 7 tackle set from the 20m.

Brisbane Broncos vs North Queensland Cowboys: NRL live scores, blog, highlights

Sounds a little like sour grapes. A few calls both ways had question marks over them. Sharks got away with some dropped balls that would be knock-ons in any other game. Cowboys got penalised for incorrect play the ball, two tackles later Gallen got away with doing the exact same thing. The better team won.

None of the ‘experts’ (Gould, Sterlo, Buzz, PK et al) had Brisbane in their top 8 last year, they went one game short of a GF appearance. When Milf, Bird and co are fit. they’ll be fine. Top 4.

Australia vs Samoa: Rugby League World Cup quarter-final live scores, blog

I’m with Noel, otherwise your team is pretty spot on.

Kangaroos to roll out best 17 against Samoa

Disagree. He was “silenced” by the best defensive team in the competition in the Grand Final, that is, by one team in one game. He also carried his team through one of their most difficult season’s by changing the entire way he approached the game, then was the form half through the finals series. In terms of keeping a premiership/Origin winning spine together, I’d find it hard to argue against it, but the “hype” is justified. Morgan’s a great runner, kicker, defender and has experience in the Aus side. Hard to fit all the stars in the side. Munster will get a shot, and I think he deserves a shot over Maloney, but I’m not sure I see it happening.

Michael Morgan gets Kangaroos nod for England clash alongside three debutants

In fairness to the big meat head, he was probably one of the better big blokes in the comp back then too, I just couldn’t see it through my maroon-lensed specs.

Klemmer wins Brad Fittler Medal

Easily the best Blue forward and should be one of the first players picked in Mal’s end of year squad. As a Qlder I absolutely hated him during that first Origin series, but he’s matured, got rid of the carry-on and is now one of the better big blokes in the comp. Well done.

Klemmer wins Brad Fittler Medal

Hard to argue with any of this, though my team of the year doesn’t feature many from south of the Tweed or north of the Albury/Wodonga limits. Great read.

The best and worst of the 2017 NRL season

Horrible result for Rugby League fans. Brisbane, the best attacking team in the comp, forced to play yet another Friday night game on what one could only assume will be a slippery surface, in a terrible stadium that will be far less than half it’s capacity.

That may be so, but if it was GI’s last game as a Maroon and Joey was in charge of the Blues, I know what would be playing over and over in his head to get him up for the challenge.

Andrew Johns, it is time to put up or shut up

IMO if the pass was thrown and a try scored, Qld still would’ve come back and won.

The split-second decision that sums up Jarryd Hayne

It is, but not by much. I’m thinking the OP is including Ipswich and the surroundings in his Western Brisbane region. Sunshine Coast could include anywhere North of Brisbane up to Bundaberg and out past Gympie etc, but I don’t know that it would be as competitive as the West Brisbane region. Maybe in 10 years as it continues to develop.

Reduce the number of Sydney NRL clubs and make our competition truly 'national'

Sunshine Coast is nowhere near big enough. Their most successful years in the Q Cup have been as feeder teams to the Sea Eagles and the Storm. Plenty of good players have come from the Sunshine Coast but not enough to build an NRL team out of there.

Reduce the number of Sydney NRL clubs and make our competition truly 'national'

I’m a big Brisbane fan and I’ve actually enjoyed his evolution as he grows in confidence and with experience. He was definitely more rocks than diamonds at the start of the year, but he’s been very valuable to us through and since Origin.

Twelve talking points from NRL Round 24

Disagree. Any player other than Dugan doesn’t drop like a sack of tubers. Dropping on to him completes the tackle. McGuire hears the whistle, knows the penalty is against him, gets up and runs back to the line. No carry on, no further groundwork.
