And that is no secret that should be kept from the Wallabies opponents. I am just your average rugby loving arm chair critic but it’s pretty clear to me that the Wallabies and RA have massive deficits in the fundamentals of playing rugby and running the game. Both RA and Cheika have failed strategically. SIMPLE and DIRECT should be and should have been their style on and off the field. To much flash and not enough substance. They have done almost irrepairable damage to the lifeblood of the game. Their grassroots slowly diminishing fan base. I am hopeful that Rennies ability to connect with people might just turn things around . But they need to start winning a lot more than they lose for this to happen.

Wtf is a “measurable deliverable ???” Just start friggin winning games..more corporate triple double speak. A farce and an illusion.

A bit harsh . Aus Rugby was in the shit way before Castle was appointed! She inherited a severely dysfunctional organisation that needs a major enema to fix it. If Rennie is successful in rebuilding the Wallabies( which I hope he is!!) then she will be vindicated. There is no quick or easy fix I don’t agree with her /boards decision re Folau.. should have had clear use of social media clauses in his contract after his first posting and Cheika should have been replaced for poor results etc pre WC. Rennie has been given the opportunity to rebuild the Wallabies. There are a lot of good players to choose from and the potential to develop a strong team in the next WC cycle. I think that Cheika’s major mistake ( he made a few…) was trying to make the Wallabies play a style of rugby that did not suit the personnel in the team.. the ridiculous attempted counter attacking etc from within their own 22 in the Eng game was bizzarre. I hope that Rennie evaluates the players at his disposal and implements a style of Rugby that suits them. The Wallabies have some very good tight forwards.. anyway I am looking forward to watching how both the AB’s and the Wallabies evolve over the next 4 yrs.

Ian Foster pips Scott Robertson to be named new All Blacks coach

It’s not the dog in the fight mate..It’s the fight in the dog..Bucks warrior spirit makes up for his smaller physical stature. Read went missing in the WC semi loss to Eng. Jerry Collins was smaller than most of the forwards that he played against but a dam sight tougher than most. He made up for his shorter stature with ferocity and mongrel and an onfield mean disposition…anyway as been said by a few posters..different era’s different styles….I can take a loss but the insipid foward display in the WC semi doesn’t sit well with me. Our pack got given a good hiding by the Eng. I want foster and co to develop a tough..mongrel forward pack during the next WC cycle . Mental toughness trumps a big body.

Who are the greatest All Blacks since 1970?

Agree. But Bucks character was what we lacked in the semi against Eng. I value that more than Reads lineout ability. Read is an excellent nos 8 and like you say different era’s and differenty styles.

Tim Horan is my favourite 2/5. AB or Wallaby. He is one of the great inside backs. After his first test against the AB’s Joe Stanley came into the Wallaby dressing room and asked to swap Jerseys with him. Respect!

Who are the greatest All Blacks since 1970?

Mexted always rated Glenn Rich.

Who are the greatest All Blacks since 1970?

Kaino was better than Whetton and Shelford was better than Read.

Who are the greatest All Blacks since 1970?

Mourie was a great Captain. A man of honour and integrity. His ability to read a game was second to none.

Who are the greatest All Blacks since 1970?

Jimmy Cowan was a tough combative half back.

Why Scott Barrett should captain the All Blacks

Why Scott Barrett should captain the All Blacks

Beauden can’t run a backline let alone Captain the AB’s. He went missing against Eng. Nil leadership demonstrated by him or Mounga. If he can step up and take charge of the Blues and LEAD them to success on the field like a 1/5 is meant to then maybe he could become a candidate for the AB Captaincy. On field leadership/game management as well as developing a more physical /tough/mongrel forward pack is what the AB’s need to develop in the next RWC cycle. Both of the Barrett’s that you have mentioned are excellent players . But I don’t rate them as AB Captain material.

Wasted when you have great outside backs who never get the ball. 😁

Hi.. I played halfback when I was a kid. I watched footage of Chris Laidlaw throw a Torpedo spiral pass from the 25 to the goal line. Flat trajectory like a bullet. I was taught to clear the ball as quickly as possible without taking a step to get the ball to the backs/wings who scored the tries…there are many different styles in rugby all good!!! Running half backs like Sid and Justin Marshall were all top players!

Brad Thorne. Toughest AB ever. Just ask John Smith. No one has the bottle to back slam a Bok hooker and smile when the Bok pack took exception.

Who are the greatest All Blacks since 1970?

Agree. Carl Hayman is probably our best prop. Although Dowd and McDowel are up there along with Gary (the toughest) Knight…

He went missing against the Eng pack when playing at 6. The search for a nos 6 needs to continue. Its not Barrett. He is a good lock and will get better. If he gets past his concussion issues then Luke Jackobsen may be the next AB 6.

Why Scott Barrett should captain the All Blacks

If any players value was demonstated in our defeat to the English in the WC Semi then it was the absence of Sam Cane from the get go. We got severley done at the break down and our forward defence was non existant. Whitelock should never be captain due to to his ill discipline .Just as the AB’s were gaining some semblance of momentum he gave Farrell a face massage and we lost the initiative. Hansen dragged him soon after. Sam Cane is a better 7 than Savea . We did not need flash in the semi we needed grunt and mongrel. Barret is a good lock and will get better. He is not a loose forward . He went missing at the breakdown and was passive at the line outs even though he was selected along with our other jumpers to attack the English lineout. Sam Cane is the best candidate for the next AB Captain.

Why Scott Barrett should captain the All Blacks

Michael Jones best nos 7 that I have ever seen . Better than McCaw. A natural athlete that could have played 2/5 ..fast,skillful,tough,brave . Would have been a star in the NRL. McCaw was our best leader by far, tough, uncompromising, brave ,massive heart..Different era’s . Both brillant AB’s.

Who are the greatest All Blacks since 1970?

Mealamu was a fantastic hooker no question but Fitzpatrick was a great leader as well as a very skillful player. Tough, uncompromising and an Alpha competiitor and an excellent AB captain in one of the best AB teams ever.

Who are the greatest All Blacks since 1970?

Sid was tough ,brave and full of mongrel. But the couldn’t pass .. It ‘s all a matter of personal preference . For me Dave Loveridge is the best AB nos 9. I have followed them for 55 years and have not seen a better Nos 9. Chris Laidlaw had the best pass by far. Loveridge was the best all round half back and a great leader.
