Please DO NOT assume that I have no perspective… I have looked at this issue from a variety of perspectives and have decided to voice my opinion and fight against racism… I’m doing my bit, hopefully you do yours 🙂
Can racism be kicked out of sport?
The war between the codes is going to go on whether we like it or not as they are each trying to become number 1.
Racism is wrong and is not needed. Together Australia’s sporting codes should join to fight this common enemy.
Can racism be kicked out of sport?
Agreed… But sport is such a crucial part of Australian society and if racism can be stamped out in sport perhaps other areas of society will follow.
Can racism be kicked out of sport?
I agree that incident was far worse than what happened on Saturday night but any racial attaxk simply cannot be tolerated!
Can racism be kicked out of sport?
Yes I am primarily referring to the fans and spectators. I understand where you’re coming from but I think it can… Like anything it will just take effort and for people to think before they speak… Something that is easier said than done.
Can racism be kicked out of sport?
After sitting back and really analysing and thinking about how this article has been received on here and on social media sites it is clear that football is still a tad underestimated but I expected that… What I didn’t expect was the personal attacks primarily on social media, let me clarify by stating that I am not attacking AFL I was just pointing out that football is on the up and if it continues this way it will over take the AFL.
What shocked me most about some of the comments was that on social media the race of certain groups in the football community was bought into the debate in an offensive manner. I disgust racism. Negative reviews and differences of opinions are to be expected but racial attacks are just not on.
Thank you all for reading this and sharing your thoughts.
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
A poor article that has generated a large response on here and social media… But thank you for acknowledging that football is on the up.
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
Bandwagon fans are a real issue. People that support overseas clubs but have no interest in their local a-League clubs really baffle me
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
The salary cap in the a-League needs to be addressed and loosened or gone completely so investors can capitalise
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
The sport is called football but I think anyone 10+ years of age grew up knowing it as soccer but it is important that we start calling it football so that future generations don’t get it mixed up with Aussie rules
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
Must be honest the website changed my title “cusp” was not included in the original write up
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
I’m with you on that… With their cooperation that World Cup bid could have been a lot better!
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
Surely the Wanderers are still more popular in western Sydney than GWS? Just curious because I’m not from that area
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
As I said the statistics are from the ABS there is no source more reliable than that.
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
So by your logic you’re calling yourself stupid for reading it?
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
Thank you for taking the click bait haha
We are all friends… But I think the AFL hierarchy has to accept the growth of football here just like many of their fans and players have.
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
I think the Australian Bureau of Statistics including both pool and beach swimming in those statistics haha truly alarming statistics
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
Of course there is a place for both but the rate at which football is growing in Australia is alarming and a pleasant surprise.
There is nothing wrong with enjoying both sports but football will be number 1 one day.
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
All these children that are choosing football over AFL will grow to support football over the AFL which could swing the ratings in favour of football but yes that is still a while away
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
Football is slowly catching the AFL, I hope we will all be able to see it in our lifetime… The sealer in doing that would be to host and or win a world cup
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
Thanks for doing your bit James haha maybe leave another 1000 comments 😉
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
Valid point… It is then important to look at the participation statistics when children are 14+ and in those age groups AFL drops lower and lower… Something has to be done for the AFL’s sake.
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
Of course there is plenty to still be done but having a strong base such as the football grassroots sector is very important. Securing the future of any struggling a-League clubs is important… I agree with you.
Football is on the cusp of overtaking Aussie rules
Of course it’s not their responsibility but it is the right thing to do, to minimise the chances that these incidents occur again.
No one forces us to stand up against racism but it is the right thing to do.
