Heart says Wellington and Mariners both win…in which case I am hopeful to snag a GF ticket and do a big drive up to CC next weekend.

Head says somehow the two big city clubs will get through and ruin football (not really but I just love an underdog story and would be a shame if the two top didn’t make the GF in this case).

In other news, does anyone know whether Adelaide will have enough players to field next season? Have made 3 different announcements in 24 hours releasing 5 players. (Why not make the announcements all at once..?)

The Roar's A-League Men tips and predictions: Semi-finals, second leg

Really not good for one of the A League’s good guys/pin ups with everything he has been through.
Impeccable timing as well

Macarthur FC captain Ulises Davila among three charged as betting scandal rocks A-League

yeah i just don’t have that visceral hate I think/it would not outdo my love for my own club. As a NUFC fan the rivalries with Sunderland were always fun (despite them winning most of the recent ones when they were in the prem).

Ange lashes Tottenham's 'fragile foundations' as fans celebrate City defeat that's set to deny Arsenal title

Complete loser mindset though Tufano. Maybe I just don’t understand or have lived these types of rivalries.
For me the rivalry is with the oil-laundering juggernaut that is the CFG who have won 3 titles in a row. But clearly I don’t get it

I think the bigger issue in Australia continuing to entice dual nationals is the expanded WC.
I am under absolutely no illusions that if Souttar, Boyle, Cummings, Jones would not have declared for Aus if they were either:
1. good enough to play for Scotland/Wales (I think at least Souttar and Boyle would be on the fringes); but more importantly,
2. Scotland /Wales were a better chance to make the WC.
I don’t think Aussies have the same nationalism that some of the European-born Moroccans would have. It’s definitely a balancing act between:
1. How much will international football impact my club career (for Australia, probably quite high)
2. What are my chances of being picked (for Australian dual nationals, most likely a higher chance to play for Aus)
3. What are my country’s chances of making major tournaments (again for Australia quite high – but with expanded WC will be higher for other nations too).
Personally I just want players who want to play for the national team, play for the national team. Don’t care about trying to entice them in some way. For example I don’t care if Volpato doesn’t want to play. But if he does, great.

The value of foreign-developed players: What Football Australia can learn from Morocco for Socceroos success

It is also completely unethical, unprofessional and borderline match fixing to not try and win this game. Sure, ask the question once. But for it to be the main topic for entire press conferences is unbelievable.

And also – f City, I don’t want them to win 4 titles in a row. Shame Spurs couldn’t get a result this morning.

Ange doesn't care about Arsenal rivalry as he tries to bring City down, Duran's late double saves Villa against Liverpool

Agree with this BT. Watched them in CBR and Wurigumala was excellent. Again didn’t watch all their games but I didn’t think Simon did or played that much (and I love Kyah)

Kisnorbo goes from French farce to All Stars comeback

For Newcastle fans such as myself – it’s not a great indictment on who Newcastle will bring to Aus if Garang is coming – given he’s not been anywhere close to the squad.

Not that I really care, I’d be stoked to see him regardless

The Roar's A-League Men expert tips and predictions: Semi-finals, first leg

Agree with this, but what effect will it have on the attractiveness on the product? I would love it if it was just young Aussie kids, but would broader fans? Long gone are the days of the ‘marquee’, let’s be honest. But players like Arslan & Machach (clearly a step above this league) are good to have to bring up the overall level.

If ever young player was an Irankunda we’d be drowning in broadcast deals – but I would hazard a guess that they are not

Show us the bottom line! Football fans deserve to know the state of the APL's finances and the leagues they support

Not at all – in fact in my comment above I (begrudingly) said that I think finals should stay in Australia. We need them as that is our sporting landscape.
What I am saying is that the main plaudits (i.e. continental qualification) should, in line with the rest of the world, be aligned to the premiers & not the champions.
I am also saying that the best team of the year is the team that finishes first – not the team that wins the cup competition at the end of the season.

A-League's 'good guys' winning the comp would be the best thing that could possibly happen - and nearly everyone's behind them

Yep FF that’s what I acknowledged in my comment above! I agree cup football is a different prospect to league football. But the A league is a league, not a cup. Therefore it should be first past the post that gets the plaudits.

A-League's 'good guys' winning the comp would be the best thing that could possibly happen - and nearly everyone's behind them

Thanks Garry, I wasn’t 100% sure but I did suspect that was the case

Give it a rest SS. Imagine this being your response to this article.
Not sure what CCM are supposed to do re assault cases, they’ve done everything they needed to do. Unless you have some sort of inside gossip that they had prior knowledge that both those players would commit those sorts of offenses before they signed, then I don’t know why you would need to bring it up. The other player in question has played for about 4 clubs. Is that a blight on all of them then?? And didn’t he start at your beloved team..?
Acknowledge the roles clubs have in ensuring their players are community role models (Kaltak? Vuka? Nisbet? Hall?) but it’s a low blow continuing to insinuate that there is a problem there.
Again with the Irankunda stuff… it’s happened. Can you not let it go? It was a question that was asked and a legitimate one within the rules of the comp.

A-League's 'good guys' winning the comp would be the best thing that could possibly happen - and nearly everyone's behind them

well then I don’t think being less than 100% is a good indication of the best team in the comp.

If we are being represented in continental tournaments, I want the team who were consistently the best across an entire season, not one that got it together for 3 games (although ironically I acknowledge that cup competitions are exactly that for the most part).

A-League's 'good guys' winning the comp would be the best thing that could possibly happen - and nearly everyone's behind them

Sorry Grem – you can’t be called the best team just for winning finals! First past the post should be the metric.

Granted I think finals should stay (Aussies love finals) but I’d much rather any ACL incentives, for example, consider the premiers rather than the champions.

Mariners v Adelaide is my favourite A leagues fixture – if there was a non-derby match I would take a non-football fan to, it would be this one, on a Friday night, at Coopers.
Hoping for a ripper tonight

Phoenix praying Adelaide can do them a favour as Mariners look to snatch Premier’s Plate in season finale

I heard via Simon Hill’s radio show last night – that we won’t hear the rationale behind decisions, but only the actual decision made? If that’s true, what a waste of time that will be.

FA introduces key VAR change for A-Leagues finals

Yes I didn’t expect this out of a Staj coached team.
Backline looks like it struggled without Lachman maybe? Although I’ve seen mixed opinions on him. And he’s leaving.
Majekodunmi and Rawlins are both good young players, Koutroumbis is a good pro, not sure about Muir – but needed a bit of experience?

There’s some potential in this squad but maybe needs a few more experienced heads around needed.

Wanderers' season ends, Nix stay alive in premiership race, Perth humiliated again

What the heck has happened to Perth…? To concede 15 goals in two games of professional football within a short space of time is absolutely crazy. Even Jets and Mariners weren’t doing that at their lowest (to my memory anyway).

Yes I did hear about this – interesting though, he spent a chunk of his youth in the UK and thought he’d be quite comfortable there

The Roar's A-League Men tips and predictions: Round 26 - the jostle for finals positions is on in earnest

I knew you’d point that out as soon as I hit post 😛 To be fair a goal and two assists and I feel like he’s won a fair few penalties in his short career too. But I take the point.

Yep I’ve heard the same re Madanha. Hopefully sees a bit more game time next season – he scored a ripper in NPL last weekend.

Personally I hate the Murray’s coach but if you make it here I’ll buy you a beer 🙂

Best young fullback…? Farrell by a mile.
Yeah where has Barnett been? I remember he was showing real promise at the back end of last year.
I’ve seen a lot of angst amongst ADL supporters re the sale of Bovalina (too small, no replacements etc) – what are your thoughts on Madanha? Thought he was another that showed something earlier in the season.

The Roar's A-League Men tips and predictions: Round 26 - the jostle for finals positions is on in earnest

Never been a good tipper – as usual I want to see the young stars keep performing and finish the season strong and some good crowds to boot. Not much to ask ????
It’s been a good season Grem. Hoping I will be able to jump off the bandwagon, support a team in CBR and actually be able to attend some matches.
