Sadly, league was barely existent in Victoria pre Storm, and rugby clubs outnumbered them considerably. I reckon Rugby is best suited to address concussion issues. Doesn’t have the repetitive 10m plus hit ups of league, nor the 360 degrees clashed of afl and the various elements of the game is its strength, ie lineouts, scrums etc…but continuing to penalise those who do contact the head will be beneficial long term. Rugby in Australia has a dreadful image problem from a lack of free to air coverage, constant saturation by other codes with often ridicule, reports of poor management and a seemingly ever threat of eating ourselves to death from the inside out and not to mention player drain to money markets. It’s frustrating, no doubt, but we’ll be right.
