Sports panel shows are predicated on “ oppositional individuals and controversy” notably Kent and Buzz, Buzz and Anasta ( NRL 360) ;Gus and Gal ( on 9). Essentially “the key being who is on the panel and the quality of their punditry.” Yes , however the quality of the punditry is questionable.

JFM is one of those players who can really change the momentum of a game in a couple of overs and accumulate a lot of runs VERY QUICKLY. For me he should be in the squad. He could be Maxwell 2.0. But selectors have to have the fortitude to take the risk.

In the West Indies spinners can get a fair bit of turn. So I understand the thinking on a back up for Zampa. Starc is a major problem in T20. Going at nearly 12 an over is just too expensive. Lewis was the difference in the 80s. I saw many of his games and still he holds the record of 8 MOM . Interestingly Cameron Smith is next on 7 ( also has 4 Wally Lewis medals for 4 series ) and Thurston on 6. It’s only a matter of time before they get admitted to that exclusive club.

This was probably because immortals of the game like Lewis Meninga and Johns changed the landscape. Winning a clean sweep is always hard but it is harder in the modern game.

The only thing holding a bowlers interest in the IPL is money. The bowler goes through an ‘ endurance test’ of being flayed to all parts of the ground for six weeks ,with the only motivation being an increase to the bank balance. Of course many will argue that is enough, with the money on offer. Grin and bear it for six weeks. The commentary is about the highest run makers and their strike rates.bowlers hardly rate a mention. History I believe will show that bowler’s careers in the Test arena will be shortened through being flogged as workhorses in the IPL through injury and burnout. No bowler truthfully wants to be relentlessly flogged on roads . So you get bowlers going through the motions only because of the IPL cheque. That is truly burnout territory.
