There are many here advocating for Ponga. There is a reason why he isn’t there in the Suttor squad, I believe .Two words “concussion concerns’. The QRL is vexed over the matter and doesn’t want to be percieved as the cause of a premature retirement possibly, if he is concussed in an Origin game. It’s too sensitive an issue at the moment. As much as I would love as a Queenslander to see him out there.

Cam I don’t think Ponga will be in the mix for Origin. I think there is still consternation over his concussion issues. The QRL would not want to be seen to be the cause of a Ponga premature retirement through an origin concussion. I think this is the reality. I would love to see him in that arena , but I don’t think it’s going to happen, particularly with Reece Walsh available.

Billy Slater is usually on to player decline VERY QUICKLY. Think Gagai, Capewell

Cobbo is very green in the centres at this stage. Crichton and or Best will run through or over him at this stage. Too inexperienced at this stage to be in that position in Origin

The assumption that Ponga is in the mix is misinformation. He will not figure in Origin due to the risks of another concussion. More to the point the QRL does not want to be seen as causing a premature retirement with Ponga.

It’s quite an assumption. There may be more unsettledness in the maroons camp than they would like to let on

Have you been looking at Sam Walker’s kicking during the NRL ? Not enough metres . It’s been commented on by Roarers during Easts games . Alf got a lot of distance with his kicks. Walker is no Alf.

When Munster debuted for the Maroons, many said he wasn’t ready. I think Mam could be in the mix at some stage, but Walker just isn’t up to Origin standard at this stage. His kicking game is not good enough. Despite Ponga’s previous concussions, I think he is a proven origin performer and will be called on if necessary. I dont like the look of Cobbo in the centres at Origin level , his inexperience in the position will be found out at Origin level.

So start with some of the COMBINATIONS who won game three in 2023. The skeleton of that side should be considered at least first of all.Stick with Bradman Best for example. Eight out of the 18 Paul are current or ex Penrith players. That the NSW origin side has been ‘ Pennycentric’ has been a common criticism in recent years, particularly under Fittler. It’s common knowledge now that Slater and qld have the strategy to beat the Penrith combinations. The team needs more diversification.

It’s time to transfer the captaincy baton to Cleary. He needs to dominate at Origin like Wally Lewis to be truly considered an immortal of the game. “ Lewis is now rightfully recognised as one of Australian rugby league’s Immortals and his game-breaking ability PARTICULARLY in the Origin cauldron …..” -Suttor. After 10 concussions Tedesco should be medically retired by the NRL overruling the Roosters who strangely won’t make the call. This decision sometimes needs to be taken out of the players and clubs hands. If new policy needs to be implemented then let it be .

Cam you are correct on the qualifications to play for the ABs. Nevertheless one vital fact inculcated in males from an early age in NZ is that one of the highest honours attainable in NZ is to play for the ABs. Look at SBW. I say never say never. If he gets endorsements from two previous AB coaches to play Super Rugby, he is on his way.

The IPL is made for ROADS as wickets and batsmen. Note Cummins words, “I feel like I wish I was a batter,” said Cummins. “If you bowl an over for seven or eight it feels great”. I’m a Christian and Wally Lewis was the most talented footballer I’ve ever seen. I saw his first Origin in 1980 and many of his matches in the early 80s at the cauldron. Eight MOMs at Origin level says it all. He has an aversion to according him any “God like status” as his mortality in recent times has unfolded. His CTE is very sad, but he is turning it into a positive through education.
