Gday Nufcmvfc

I read your article and I do sympathise with your passion and frustration That we the Australian ‘soccer’ football public undergo, and the vast misrepresentation our game constantly endures.
I have also been left pondering police statistics in the past that clearly shows cricket, afl and spring racing carnival crowds overly represented in regards to crowd violence, drunken disorderly and anti social behavior in comparison to a league games.
This leads me to believe we need to be smarter than any other supporter in the country. If you experiences are anything like mine, I have spent the last 12 years of my life continuously defending the game from Neanderthal AFL fans who love to berate our support, of which I believe reflects there own insecurities.
However counter acting there behavior with a ‘poor me approach’, does not serve in our best interest either. We have to be better than them off and on the pitch. Personally I think the teams are certainly doing there part it’s about time we eradicate the bad apples amongst the supporters.
I did take exception to your comment regarding the strength of etihad stadium seating. Once again I think your missing the point. Regardless of your or my view point regarding what is football support, vandalism I don’t think is excepted in any world football league and standing on seats is not appropriate either. You also referred to the English fans in your article as a potential role model for our fans. Well I cant remember the last time I witnessed premier league fans ripping, or standing on seats or setting off flares.
Building stronger seats is not the answer to vandalism.

I believe the answer lies with more emphasis on CCTV cameras in active areas and publicly warning the fans they are being watched. As well as other points I highlighted in my article.
I believe we need to be smarter collectively as football fans because we are competing in a foreign sporting landscape in Australia and without media support we are doing it with one hand tied behind our backs.
