Cinderella's Big Score is 30.30.210. A long time ago it was the record score in a VFL match. This was a different age, when the rules of the game were immutable, the fixturing was orderly, and even things like record scores had a nice, memorable symmetry about them. Melbourne was its own self-contained universe, like a fairy tale kingdom. Cinderella's Big Score is also a song by Sonic Youth about disillusionment.

Conditions probably weren’t humid enough.

Footy Fix: If there's such a thing as a meaningless 64-point win over a top-two team... the Suns just found it

No, I think the umps prefer Brad. Looks aren’t everything.

Geelong coach is Chris, not Brad. He’s the one with the beard and the hotline to AFL HQ.

If all of the conditions were so emphatically and predictably in favor of the Suns, then why were Geelong $1.80 favorites to win?

OK, my serious opinion is that if you want to offload Short then I think a draft pick would be better than Butler. The tigers really need to focus on the draft, it will be a long road back. But you obviously rate Butler highly and you are a Richmond supporter, you would know better than me or probably most others here. 😊

I’ll drink to that. Hell, I’ll drink to anything!

In Monty Python’s Big Red Bok there are several columns of classified advertisements, including one from a Welshman who wants to swap a mint condition 1927 Rolls Royce for one exactly the same. Nether of these players are Rolls Royces, but you get the gist…

And guilty of four separate striking charges. 🥊 😂

Questions to ponder in Round 10: Swans or Blues in midfield battle, can Greene regain form and will Fritsch carry his forwards?

Ross Lyon is going to Melbourne??

If I was a serious person instead of a sock puppet, I would be offended by that. As you often say, just watch the game, and then you will see.

My predictions for this weekend?

Hoops – Chris Scott talkative, Dimma unperturbed.

Monogram – Vossy: ‘We knew that if we could break even in the Owies-Papley bro-off, we’d be a great chance’.

Stripes – Fly to heap effusive praise on Matthew Nicks after another one-pont victory.

Bands – Bevo confounds the critics by shifting O’Donnell forward in match-winning gambit.

Panels – Rossy takes aim at the media pack after a thrilling 63-61 shootout.

Crest – Adam Yze philosophical: ‘When you come here, you know that copping another five soft tissue injuries is a distinct possibility’.

Sash – Brad Scott tries, but can’t hide his glee. Desperately hopes to run into David King. Clarkson pelted with marshmallows.

Chevron – Hinkley notes the 80% time in forward half was key to eking out the win.

Yoke – Simmo says something about steps forward and steps back.

Joe Richards is not ordinary. He is extraordinary.

How the AFL bringing back Origin could fix the league's biggest inequality - and why now is the perfect time

I know what you are saying. You are arguing for rigor in the application of the AFL’s rules. But when Alistair Clarkson uses a homophobic slur he is fined, not suspended. When players use the slur they are suspended. When the AFL CEO is questioned about this disparity, she says that it is all about context. So not much rigor there, not much concern about the slippery slope. I don’t know about outrage, Collingwood imposed their own suspension, the fan was apologetic and accepting of it, there was a sense of the inevitable about this as I noted above. I just wish we were all more understanding of what true dangerous behavior looks like. Coaches who have enormous influence and control over teenagers have a lot more power than some poor schmuck in the cheap seats.

Yes, but they have their apologists. Don’t listen to them. Just look at the evidence.

And yet people have the nerve to say that we have a home ground advantage at the G! 😂 Nah, that’s not a home ground advantage. This is a home ground advantage. 😂 😂

Unlikely. He played junior cricket for Victoria and Australia as a batsman and some-time wicketkeeper.

And there weren’t even any ruckmen involved. 😛

When I watched this event in real time on TV (sound muted) I was hoping against hope that everybody – the media, the clubs, the AFL, the general public – would just accept it for what it really was. But deep down I knew that wasn’t going to happen.

Another example of Footscray getting preferential treatment. 😂

Murphy said he might think about getting back into cricket. Which would seem like a strange choice, given the problems that Will Pukovski is having. It would be nice for the game if they became umpires, depending if they were suited to it.
