I love that Essendon are staying quiet atm. Could have some surprises up their sleeve, and almost certainly looking for a natural small forward to help out Walla & Snells. Imo, having a big pre-season will have these ‘baby Bombers’ in a strong position to make a statement next year. I cannot imagine us getting Ben King btw, but I suspect there’s a rich vein of talent to draw from, with Reid & Baldwin in particular to start getting game time. Even blokes like 2 metre take time to develop; a horror final, but every player has shockers. He will bounce back. The heritage and culture is second to none; Dale Tapping is a terrific pick up, and I love that Stants is back coaching the Magoos. On top of all that the VFLW team preparing for a BIG 2023. There’s a LOT to look forward too in our 150th year!

An unexpected journey: Essendon Bombers season review

Dumb & dumber springs to mind. Pity Gee long didn’t put the same effort into their football!

Clayton Oliver's perfectly savage response to getting sledged while 78 points up

Your use of formulas to justify the 3 weeks is really quaint. BUT you haven’t mentioned the 21 other occasions when Greene has been cited, which include a previous instance of interfering with an umpire. There’s also the look for the game. Many young kids have their heroes, and sadly I imagine Greene is one. There’s nothing that justifies such a paltry suspension with Greene’s record and ongoing arrogance. No indication whatsoever of genuine remorse, and his coach wasn’t much better.

Greene saga takes another twist as McLachlan flags potential AFL appeal

I agree in part Chucka, although Clarke’s style of play would have been ideal for wet weather football, with his grit and ability to get the hard ball. I also could not understand WHY we picked a player who had been out since R2 to play his first senior game in a cut throat final. At best it would have been a better choice to have him as Med Sub. I think we also made a mistake with Perkins. On form hadn’t been spectacular, and Cox deserved a game over him imo.
Thanks for bringing up the disgusting abuse of Walla too. I know he’s been really hurt by this. These cowards need to be exposed and charged. I cannot believe I am even typing this so many years after Longy’s brave stance against Monkhorst.
Did you see Lloydy’s comments too? We can’t afford to be complacent, coz near enough is NOT good enough. Cheers mate and thanks for the great articles.

Bombers finals Week 1 review: Strange selection choices lost Essendon this game

Yep, I hear you, but he’s actually younger than Breust. Seb Ross looks like a real possibility, and if we could pick up Chol as well I’d be pretty happy. Rapt to see Hird & McBride continue. I like the look of McBride as a key forward. Fearless and a good mark. Hird is …..well, Hird. You can see the pedigree in all he does.

Essendon 2022: Is there room for one more explosive centre?

Definitely a need for lively goal smart forwards. We REALLY missed Fanta particularly with the absence of Walla. 3 forwards to come in next year, all 21 and under. Jones back, Baldwin to appear, and I have a feeling Reid may be tried out down there. When you consider the age of this side, and the lack of experience, here’s a classic example. Draper & Caldwell between them have 35 games of total experience. I would also like to see another bull mid fielder to support the engine room & create more space for our elite brigade. I still believe Chol is worth a red hot go, particularly given his age. Mobile, tall, and lion hearted. Played a ripper game agains the Dons. Wondering aloud whether we also target Caddy (again). Goal smart and tough competitive beast. Thoughts?

Essendon 2022: Is there room for one more explosive centre?

That’s yet another reason why Walla MUST play. You don’t leave the Ferrari in the garage for the big occasion, & Walla is a proven big game player on so many occasions.

After a storming finish to the season, how far can Jake Stringer take the Bombers in finals footy?

You can actually when they move off the mark and the umpire says play on.

Bomber produces surely the dumbest moment of the 2021 season

Durham. Been a fantastic pick up hey, along with mid season Snelling in 2019. Forster-Knight, Dodoro & recruiting team have been sensational too imo.

Bomber produces surely the dumbest moment of the 2021 season

Great call Chucka. I was totally bewildered by the second one too. Watto more than made up for this by kicking 4 stellar goals hey! He, along with ‘2 metre’ , Hindy & Durrs have been a revelation. Great to see blokes seizing their chances after health & form issues, and WHY other clubs let the latter 2 go is absolutely beyond me.

Bomber produces surely the dumbest moment of the 2021 season

If it had come off you would have been labelling it sensational! SERIOUSLY, the bloke has 21 games of football experience. Time to retire BT, you’re irrelevant.

BT gives the Bombers ruckman an absolute bake for trying to take on the defenders

The more likely question is regarding the potential for sports betting to influence outcomes! Don’t laugh; look at what happened in India.

'What a mess': Greene suspension another brick in the tribunal's wall of inconsistency

Except if you’re from Geelong or the Swans (a la Selwood & Franklin, the two serial offenders)!

'What a mess': Greene suspension another brick in the tribunal's wall of inconsistency

What utter nonsense. Do you understand that one of the most effective karate blows uses the palm to connect???

'What a mess': Greene suspension another brick in the tribunal's wall of inconsistency

Should have been referred for criminal charges, like that thug Leigh Matthews.

'What a mess': Greene suspension another brick in the tribunal's wall of inconsistency

Great call James. Funny how the media completely ignored this!!!

'What a mess': Greene suspension another brick in the tribunal's wall of inconsistency

Thanks for your well reasoned commentary Cameron. The double standards of the AFL MRO are a laughing stock. The citing of Redman is a classic example. Bailey Fritsch, Selwood, & of course Buddy are classic example of the AFL double standards.

'What a mess': Greene suspension another brick in the tribunal's wall of inconsistency

Are you serious or is it April Fools Day! Talking about Eddie having his heart in the right place when he’s bleating about how hard it is to front the media is like defending ….. the indefensible. This issue is WAY bigger than Eddie and his band of dinsosaurs. For once I agree with Caro. (NEVER though I’d say that after her disgusting treatment of the Hird family).

Caroline Wilson accuses Eddie McGuire of making Taylor Walker the victim in heated clash

Oh poor Eddie. He has NEVER understood the depth of this problem, or even pretended to acknowledge it. One of the worst commentators of the modern era, and a dinosaur to boot. Not very often I agree with Caroline, but on this issue she is spot on. ZERO mention from Eddie about the impact (yet again) on indigenous folks.

Caroline Wilson accuses Eddie McGuire of making Taylor Walker the victim in heated clash

Absolutely, & his name is Razer Ray. An ego bigger than Trump!

Get’s away with it SO often. Another mate of Buddy’s.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 22

Do would you then agree that Bailey Fritsch should have been suspended for what was even more clearly pre-meditated earlier in the season?

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 22

Hey Chanon, you DO know that the Essendon Suns game is being played in Geelong??? Just saying. 😂

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 22

An honourable mention really should go to Jayden LaVerde from Essendon. Played on against a physically stronger and taller opponent in Buddy Franklin, the umpires favourite, and despite a bung shoulder after half time, which was seriously impacting him held Franklin to 2 goals. Terrific effort.

Your club's underrated performer: Round 20

So much for ‘my word is my bond’ just 2 weeks ago by Clarko. He maybe should have added ‘Terms & Conditions may apply!’ Surely Kennett needs to go too with the absolute fiasco he has made of Hawthorn?
