Good call re NM v Essendon. They seem to bring a hot contest to this game. A real danger game for Essendon. Confidence is a big thing in footy. Dons by a very narrow margin imo.

Round 10 forecast

It’s well and truly off the ball, at least 40 metres away. It was a cheap shot and outside of the rules. No credit in that sort of rubbish behaviour.

'Hang your head': Freo's off-the-ball tactics on Zach Merrett slammed

I agree. His razor pass to Harry Jones for his first goal was perfect football.

Your club's underrated performer: Round 9

Takes NOTHING away from the fact that this was blatant targetting. ZERO to do with playing hard football-cowardly and pathetic.

'Hang your head': Freo's off-the-ball tactics on Zach Merrett slammed

Bout time! Couldn’t believe that EFC, one of the oldest and best equipped clubs in the AFL was not granted a licence right from the start. Re the talent pool concerns, the best way to address that is for the AFL to get out there and encourage more young women and girls to take up AFL footy. Exciting times ahead.

AFL announces AFLW expansion plans

Not sure your comments re Cox are altogether fair. Ham yes. I also have to say that in 55 years of watching the game I was staggered at the ineptitude of the umpiring. How Stringer had a free kick paid against him late in the second quarter when the second Carlton player was clearly charging at him, and at NO stage looking at the ball, unlike Stringer. A few minutes later the arm chop on Stringer deep in the forward line was also a disgrace, as was the lack of free kick against Redman who was dragged off the ball when he hadn’t even touched it. PLUS the number of times Carlton players clearly infringed on the 5 metre space but were not penalised. Have a look at the reaction of Cox to one such incident. It’s momentum shifts from sloppy umpiring that can and do at times change the course of a game, and I am fed up with the incompetence.

Essendon Round 7 review

Those two missed decisions were very very poor umpiring, particularly the first one. Frustrating for fans when the ball player gets penalised. Stringer had every right to be frustrated too.

Jake Stringer blows his stack at the ump after conceding a free

Riddles certain to return. Francis is 50/50 at this stage. That extra day could make all the difference if he does play. Should be a fantastic game.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 7

I didn’t know that either. so that’s very poor publicity from CA. I love my cricket btw!

Five ideas to revive crowd numbers in the Marsh Cup and Sheffield Shield

I disagree Chris. When 1500 people turn up to a minor league footy game with two cellar dweller sides, it tells me that there IS interest in sport. I think Joss’s ideas have a lot of merit. One thing is certain. CA have absolutely butchered the Sheffield Shield competition, and their scheduling was nothing short of atrocious.

Five ideas to revive crowd numbers in the Marsh Cup and Sheffield Shield

That’s exactly why the Dons need players like Stewart, Zaka, Clarke, Hurley, Phillips and Ambrose back soon. The second half of the season particularly will be tough on the youngsters as wear and tear mounts and conditions worsen. Reid had to be played though imo.

Essendon Round 5 review

I am going to throw a spanner in the works here and suggest the following.
Essendon do a straight swap with the Doggies; Merrett for Josh Dunkley.
Would it work, much as I would HATE to see Merrett go.

Essendon Round 5 review

Strewth people; lighten up. The article is called satire! Well written btw, and not at all disrespectful to JD or anyone else, a rarity these days.
