Good call DJ – he was the greatest by a mile. The Don once said he was the best 3 cricketers in the world – the best batsman, fielder and all purpose bowler (pace and spin). What a cricketer !

Eight early takes from the Sheffield Shield

Isn’t it sad we even know this bloke’s name ? Seen and not heard has always been the best umpiring mantra.

Razor Ray again in the spotlight after his worst centre bounce yet

Haha – good try Marty – Covid is the only reason the umps have temporarily left their nest. The Victorian hype is ongoing and will be back to normal when the virus is controlled. A few weeks away from home doesn’t sway the Vic bias.

Collingwood's win was great, but don't call it 'gutsy'

“The only thing worse than people talking about you is people not talking about you”. He’s a media puppet and he’s not alone.

Kane Cornes' Collingwood prediction spectacularly backfires

They all live and train together in Melbourne, Marty and live with the Victorian hype. There is a bias mate and that is a “fact “.

Collingwood's win was great, but don't call it 'gutsy'

Sadly, they are facts, not cliches Marty. Could you imagine all the EPL referees and linesmen and coomentators all coming from Manchester ? Our comp is seriously compromised and can never be taken seriously until all states are treated equally. I dont follow West Coast,I’m just a realist !

Collingwood's win was great, but don't call it 'gutsy'

Perhaps you didnt read the whole response Pete, sorry if I misled you. Collingwood were fantastic – but the umpiring was the decider. Please have another look at the game. The deliberate out of bounds decision was as much against the spirit of the game as any you would see. This was a Final – end of the road for the loser. Btw I wasn’t barracking for either team, just loving an intense footy match that was, in the end, greatly influenced by the umpiring. That’s not fair !

Collingwood's win was great, but don't call it 'gutsy'

Thanks Rip – I was wondering when someone would address the elephant in the room. The umpires gave the game to Collingwood – simple as that. How could any person pay a deliberate out of bounds in a great contest such as that. The umpires affected the results of each final which is quite diabolical and prompts me to ask the question – are all umpires from Victoria ? As an aside, I thought the Ch.7 commemtators barracked for Collingwood (and umpire Chamberlain) harder than Eddie McGuire ! Overall – a disgraceful performance by all the VFL reps but still a terrific performance by Collingwood, albeit with outside help.

Collingwood's win was great, but don't call it 'gutsy'

Good call Doc – I didnt realise he was that good – he definitely kept em in it.

Ten talking points from AFL Finals Week 1

They were laughing and joking in the player’s race coming onto the field and the coach forgot about the anthem. Got a little bit ahead of themselves Sven and now they’ll have to go to Adelaide with no MCG home comforts to keep them cosy. You’re in trouble Sven !

AFL qualifying final forecast: Brisbane Lions vs Richmond Tigers

Touche Rowdy – not many would have got that. Long live Gunther Toody, oo-oo !

Crows duo in hot water over drug possession

Yeah Danger is your trump card when he goes forward – a la Dusty and Robbie Gray. This will be a fascinating contest with the loser destined to struggle from then on.

Crows duo in hot water over drug possession

I saw Vinar playing for Tassie in a carnival in Adelaide in ’69.
The longest dropkicker I’ve ever seen. (Goggin was the best stab pass)

The AFL all-time great alphabet teams: Letter V

Spot on Sphere – I’m a Crow – you dont need this fella, he cant kick over a jam tin. Play your kids, the clock’s ticking on Selwood, Danger, Hawkins etc. You need to find another key forward before Thursday night – good luck !

Crows duo in hot water over drug possession

Jon Ralph (Herald Sun) has stated cocaine. What a pair of fools !

Crows duo in hot water over drug possession

Our test players in the days of old had six month tours of England, while taking leave from their jobs. I’m sure they missed their families.

Aussie cricketers face Christmas without their families

You’ve done a mighty job to get through it Pete and you’re nearly there. Well done to you all – better times ahead.

I cannot wait for the first ball of the Boxing Day Test

We shall agree to disagree, comrade but you can get set with me on Carey being our country’s next keeper. Also, as Phillipe is a sandgroper he is already “fast tracked” !

The defining moments in Josh Philippe’s career

I think Williams would have been good for them Tige and one thing is certain – he would never, ever have dropped his captain !

GWS are broken in every way

Dont sweat it Pete, it will be held in Adelaide in beautiful weather with a passionate crowd but if you behave yourselves over there, you can have it back next year. Ditto with the footy.

I cannot wait for the first ball of the Boxing Day Test

Oh oh, another West Australian to be fast tracked – puhlease ! Let him become a shield player first and then lets see what happens. Carey is next cab off the rank by a country mile !

The defining moments in Josh Philippe’s career

Time for him to go – any coach who drops his captain loses all respect from the players from that moment. This is why the selection of a captain is one of the most important decisions a club can make, because if you drop him your credibility goes out the door. Good article Avatar.

From grand finalists to flag favourites to also-rans: the sad story behind the Giant downfall in 2020

I’m not a GWS fan Wassa but have a look at the ’16 prelim when you get a chance. The Melbourne based umpires slaughtered them. They wanted Footscray as premiers of the VFL right or wrong.

From grand finalists to flag favourites to also-rans: the sad story behind the Giant downfall in 2020

Beautiful Sir, unfortunately putting joy into sad lives wont sell papers and most punters nowadays are content to go along.

The backlash to Gibbs' send-off is laughable

Big forwards dont count for much in tight finals (Buddy). Hawkins has had a terrific year but what Richmond did to him last Friday night will happen again next time and to Dixon et others. Finals footy is vastly different. If you rely on big forwards during the minor round, modern history suggests you are going to struggle to kick enough in the finals.

Key forwards reign supreme
