It’s not the coaches who decide on an HIA but an independent doctor. But agree the question should be asked as to why Kriel didn’t go off for an HIA. Plenty of other occasions of impact to head not being assessed in this WC

SPIRO ZAVOS: 'Crazy brave' Boks are a team for the ages - but key decisions cleared their path to glory

. I think PSDT, Faf and Eben were the difference that won the Boks the game.

I’d add Kwagga into that list. His influence on the outcomes of matches is significant

RWC Team of the tournament: Six Boks, three All Blacks and an Aussie manages to knock out Will Jordan

Because of the knock on between the penalty offence and the try being scored

The World Cup Wrap: France 2023 got a final befitting the host nation - imperfect, baffling and historic

Unfortunately Geoff, the way the TMO interventions are going and the constant let’s call it ‘debate / forensic analysis’ of referees decisions post match means that is where the game is heading. Constant stoppages and delays and a game extending out to hours ala American football

The World Cup Wrap: France 2023 got a final befitting the host nation - imperfect, baffling and historic

For the record both sides got away with plenty

So why only call out the one instance you think was gotten away with?

I recall the myth and aura that surrounded the Springboks and the enormity of the challenge the All Blacks faced when they toured in 1994. I was lucky to have a ticket to the second test (the ear biter) which resulted in NZ winning the test series. My abiding memory was not from the match but the celebrations in Wellington afterwards. After congratulating Fitzy and Zinny on their achievement outside a nightclub in the small hours walking in to said nightclub, which had a horseshoe shaped bar, and seeing Guy Kebble dancing on top of one side of it and Olo Brown on the other!

'There's never a winner, just the next battle': The intense 102-year old rivalry that 'neutrals can't quite comprehend'

Yup he had me until ‘prestigious Qatar Cup’ 😂

Legacy vs ego: The Springboks are playing for South Africa, the All Blacks are playing for themselves

France also showed a way to manipulate the Boks defence through tactical kicking. Interestingly it was their back three who struggled with the contestable kicks in the q/f

Did England's tactics against the Boks give New Zealand the blueprint for World Cup final victory?

I refer you to RWC 2007 AA, the last time the All Blacks got a bit ahead of themselves. Little point having SC, RM etc rested if it’s to play in the 3rd / 4th play off

The Wrap: Why that was the All Blacks' greatest ever RWC win - but the road to fourth title is still a rough one

Didn’t need DMac wizardry as not chasing the game. Smiths ten minute breather may have harmed Christie’s chances of getting on. The bench that did take the field did a great job

37 phases and OUT! Whitelock the hero as All Blacks win epic RWC QF to break Ireland's hearts again

And ball was still under an AB foot so in the ruck

37 phases and OUT! Whitelock the hero as All Blacks win epic RWC QF to break Ireland's hearts again

By that measure 4 NZers and 1 Tongan

37 phases and OUT! Whitelock the hero as All Blacks win epic RWC QF to break Ireland's hearts again

Disappointing that both the tv commentary and this article are praising the Moroni tackle when his technique was all wrong with his head on the wrong side. A great outcome but an unsafe tackle and a bad example for budding rugby players watching the RWC

Cheika's hilariously laconic reaction, Gatland's cheeky Eddie dig, as Argies shock Wales

Would it not help all concerned if the reason(s) the officials did not sanction Kriel were publicised?

'Frustration and confusion': Rugby in 'trouble' says game's greats after England star banned in RWC

Oh and, “can you tell Rassie to turn that yellow light off?” 😂 😂
From what I could tell it appeared to be a signal on whether to kick the penalty or not?
TMO generally positive but the inconsistency with the Jesse Kriel incident is a head scratcher.

The Wrap: Tupou coup looks more profound by the day, Christie vitriol out of order, Argies and Scots a shambles

You may just be onto something there Jonty. Question is ‘is Eddie buying it’?

England to have the edge over box-happy Boks

England with an extra days rest to add to the discussion

England to have the edge over box-happy Boks

If he scored opposite the main stand wouldn’t he be in touch Corne 😉

England to have the edge over box-happy Boks

SA were not as one dimensional as last weekend in the Rugby Championship (or should that be The). The benefit of last weeks game plan is that they’ve given very little away with respect to what else they are capable of. I expect they will have something a bit different tomorrow.

England’s big challenge is peaking again. Their game template is set with a few variations to throw in so SA know what to expect.

Makes for an intriguing contest. I don’t know that England are as stronger favourites as many are suggesting.

England to have the edge over box-happy Boks

In the first lineout example there appears to be a disparity in numbers.
NZ only have 6 in to England’s 7. Penalty England?

Incidentally NZ don’t have a player in the scrum half position either. Smith taking up the hooker position.

Whiteout! How selection confidence helped England beat the All Blacks

Another selection issue then Hoy? SBW to start or ALB to be hooked very early.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but Hansen could have been more aggressive in his substitutions given that the plan wasn’t working

Whiteout! How selection confidence helped England beat the All Blacks

Will avoid comment on the ref however Hansens expression in the coaching box, even early on was one of observing the wheels falling off and being unable to do anything about it.

On reflection could he have hooked S Barrett (and possibly others) early? Eddie hasn’t been afraid to do it before, that young kiwi flanker got hooked after 20 mins on England tour to Australia

Whiteout! How selection confidence helped England beat the All Blacks

I think that had a lot to do with losing most of the gain line collisions. No go forward to start with makes it very difficult to attack through the backs

Whiteout! How selection confidence helped England beat the All Blacks

Asides from that England mistake when did NZ look like scoring?

Whiteout! How selection confidence helped England beat the All Blacks

I think Flo said there’s something like 6 of his Bath teammates in the England squad.

Additionally, Brits knows a thing or two about the Saracens mob. Maybe some unintended benefits of selecting overseas based players!
