Amazing run in one-day titles.
Since 1969, seventeen titles, basically every second year. Add in NSW’s twelve or thirteen titles and not much hope for the other states.
Who have been in Australia’s one-day internationals sides?
Lots of Victorians, Qlders & NSWmen of course, but only 31 West Australians back to
70/71. In 33 seasons.
Three Marshes, naturally. But once you’re in the ODI side it’s hard to get you out.
Why was that?

Exactly. Brayshaw didn’t react because
he ,weirdly enough, wasn’t expecting Maynard to launch into the air and whack his head with his shoulder.
The ill-informed who say ,here and elsewhere, that thinskulled types shouldn’t play, obviously have a false idea about concussion-causing collision.

One collision, thinskulled or not, can be
disastrous . It could be you or your daughter, thickskulled or not.

No romance about toughness can bring back mental clarity once it’s lost.

COMMENT: Angus Brayshaw's retirement isn't Brayden Maynard's fault - it's the AFL's

I’m thinking 9- 14. Flynn will be good. Ginbey will be better. Barrass is underrated by most. And so on.
The younger players have another preseason and lots to prove. Four Rising Star nominations in 2023 is a good indication.

Eagles have plenty of fast players and just need a clear run with injuries.
The new S&C team will help.

'Overblown hysteria': Harley Reid is a gun, but he won't stop the Eagles finishing last again

A man of few thoughts, Mr Duckett, best,.I would think, kept to himself.
The best players play that way because they can and sloppy fielding and one dimensional bowling contributes.
Sure, unconventional fielding positioning looks good, but if it is not restricting runs, tying up an end, or taking catches then what good is it?
Hartley looks the goods,Woods is great four overs at a time, Root is ordinary, Rehan needs another twenty tests. Anderson is mostly non-penetrative. Robinson?
Lambasting awaits.

McCullum hits back at Bazball critics after England's embarrassing rout: 'I don't want our guys to ever doubt themselves'

They will bear no responsibility.
It will bear no resemblance to the truth.
It will have no bearing on how they play.
In fact,it will be unbearable.

Sorry.. I’ll show myself out.

I was hoping that Kane Cornes had a Dom Sheed type throat injury, but was not to be.

Four weeks without his limpid vowels isn’t too much to ask, surely ?

Hazlitt,the English philosopher,once said.
“I flatter myself to think that we may be almost the only people to understand nonsense.”
May we extrapolate this to the English cricket team who have subjected themselves to this folly that has has brought them some success and the adulation of that most mature zone of public thought, the English media.
Far be it from anyone, let alone me, to critique this but they do not have the troops for the battle nor the reserves in waiting nor
the capacity for sagacious thought in extremity.

They are sawing off the branch on which they sit and ask that we admire their technique and the sharpness of the saw.

Obviously, the key to this approach is self belief. When asked, you just say, “Of course we can”.
Like the knight, limbless and headless, “come back and fight you cowards”.

Buying in to a misguided philosophy wholeheartedly, doesn’t make it less misguided in your thinking that one size fits all.
Maybe if you had equal confidence in your ability to face a hundred deliveries for twenty runs, you could still do well.
And backing Barstool unequivocally, bares quite a deal of resemblance to the case of Dwarner, thanks Sarge. While Dave’s record is and was superior to Jonny’s , there is the team ethos to consider.

I am hoping for another drubbing and another lament. Will it be DRS, pitch, bad luck or millimetres this time?

Crawley should be fined for dissent.

Cop it sweet, boyo, not like our under-the- breath mutterers. Looking at you, Smith.

'Take away umpire's call': Stokes bleats about DRS after India thrash appalling England by record margin

The biggest head scratcher of them all has to be Stokes saying ” I have an unbelievable belief in myself.”
I am merely a D.Phil. so it’s above my pay grade.

The greatest quote in the history of cricket.
“I have an unbelievable belief in myself.”

Ashwin out of Test after reaching major milestone as Duckett's Bazball blitz gives England a fighting chance

He did average 29.7 against Australia,so in great company there.
68 against NZ so he was obviously a gun.

As did Corey Wasley, who had a brilliant Aus U/19 domestic season.

Ollie Peake, best batsperson, was only there because Corey Wasley broke a finger in the third game. He’s another to watch for.

Williamson averages 45 away.
Kohli? 42 away.

When King Kohli goes, India's golden era of Test cricket goes with him

In the fifties and sixties the New York Yankees were the best baseball team.
Other sides, knowing that they’d lose, still took their best team because:

1. They were playing against the best.
2. Their own supporters deserved it.
3. The league asked/demanded it of
them.

Play the best side you have every time.

Don’t send your third string team.

Rotate one or two of your top players.Don’t ask them .

'Less than ideal': Maxwell apologises for bender after mauling Windies with monster ton as Aussies clinch series

So not true. Joel Paris is the man.

He swings it around corners,at pace, and on the money and has the best strike rate of any bowler this season. Check out his record this year, last year and the year before.

You’re not prejudiced against Western Australian players, are you..?

He’s also a decent lower-order batsperson.

Neser selection doesn’t matter much now to Test team but it slows down fast bowler development for the future

That would get Williamson to 100 tests.
Interesting that his home average is 68 and away is ‘only’ 45.
Still close to a century every third test, that is stellar.

Steve Smith v Kane Williamson - is the Test series across the ditch to be their last battle?

There’s a young 31 y.o. Paris who would rip through the Kiwis. Best strike rate of any bowler this season.

Perfectly true. Starc also in great nick.
I have a metric which weights results against opposition faced.
Borrowed and adapted from SquiggleAFL.
Honourable Win through Expected Win down to Dishonourable Loss.

Pakistan wins? Expected.
West Indies loss? ???
NZ tour?
Bowlers bowl poorly, and sometimes don’t do so well,q.f. Ashes. England at home, not so bad.
Bowlers against Pakistan or W.I. who bowl well take truckloads of wickets.
Just as well these second-tier teams came along. Even Victoria did all right.
