What a pathetic reply. I support Melbourne. Yes we have received some benefit from boys who cant hack being away from mummy. But as far as I know all of them like the scores before or since havnt demanded to only be drafted to play for 1 club, and then had the threat of deregistration thrown at them for refusing to follow the rules everyone else ever drafted has had too. If you cant chuckle at the irony of him refusing to play for a club that won 3 flags while falling agonizingly short 3 times ar his club of choice then i kind of feel sorry for ya.

It was very satisfying to see the Pies exit in such heartbreaking fasion – as good as it was to see them blow the GF in the dying minutes last year. This is as far as im concerned footys karma for Buckley. Refused to play for the team he was drafted too who went on to win 3 premierships and now is destined to not only never get one at Collingwood, but to keep falling agonizingly short. As for the Cats well they were fools gold all season. When everyone wad drooling over them in round 5 i said just wait till finals – come see me if they are still in the first game at 1/4 time. They wernt.

I think the problem the cats will always have is the rule is home STATE final not home ground final… Sydney was scheduled games at ANZ stadium even though the SCG was their home ground for example. If the AFL wanted to play Geelong v Collingwood in Glenrowan it could – im sure if the cats draw GWS or Gold Coast they will play it in Geelong – the only reason the Freo final was played there in the first place was to deny Etihad a final as punishment for the terrible deals clubs got when they were tricked into playing there.

Couldnt agree more – i flicked it on for all of 5 minutes before changing channel. I admit i dont like AFLX – it is incredibly boring. Cant even begin to describe how boring i find it… but id rather watch a game of soccer than AFLX. Yet i love the ledgends game – its great to see how fat some former favorite stars have got, how skillful some remain years after their careers are over, and the fact the game is played in such a spirit your reminded this is a GAME and is meant to be FUN. I just hope the AFL return to the original format for next year… perhaps tho next year an AFLW SOO on friday night then the light hearted ledgends match on Saturday night?

I wrote the season off when they lost to Essendon in round 3. Yet despite this had the Dees kicked accurately in Perth and Darwin they would have easily accounted for both WCE and the crows and been in the mix when the bye came around… had they won those games i cant help but wonder if we would be having the same conversation… poor pre-season, injuries to key players all season… i do think the Demons can bounce back next year BUT if not 5-6 or 6-5 at least by mid season Goodwin can pack his bags.

I do get your point and yes the only difference between him and plenty of others out there who went to court for similar reasons last week is his celebrity turned villain status which would make things more difficult for him than the average addict. Unfortunately for Ben he is also kind of the “poster boy” for how it can all go wrong. Unfortunately if he is to get well -I hope he can get better for the sake of his kids if nothing else – its going to have to be in the public eye.

Its nice you saw the good side of Ben Cousins. Know why he was in Armadale Court? He was caught with an amount of ice up his butt that was clearly for dealing. Have you ever had to deal with an ice user? Whether that be a loved one whos addicted, had your house broken into by an addict chasing their next hit or just had to deal with a random stranger tweaking their god dam brains out in the supermarket or in the middle of the road? I have, and Ben Cousins contributes to that issue. And its an issue those of us with the brains to avoid the crap he was accused of selling cant even try and escape from anymore. But its nice you had a kick of the footy with him and saw him at a cafe so that means he must be a good bloke. Oh and every court report in the land for some reason states what the defendants were wearing so it wasnt special that it was mentioned he wasnt wearing shoes, but im guessing in your naivety you dont get why its IMPORTANT that he DIDNT. Make no mistake this issue isnt behind Ben Cousins yet – it was very clear at the time of his arrest he was no where near getting better as in his head he had still not yet reached rock bottom and thats still not far enough for these guys to realise they have a problem. I hope Bens rock bottom isnt to far for his and his kids sake.

Wow cant beleive you actually ran with the word WIN in the title. They did not win. They were gifted the world cup after being granted a run the rule book clearly states shouldnt be counted. Then rather than look at WICKETS TAKEN we have a count back on boundaries scored. Absolutely unacceptable – and hsd it been India not NZ there would be rioting right now.

Interesting read and clearly a lot of work has gone into compiling the info and stats. However despite quite often having to remind pepole who barrack for a certain club in WA that the history of the league goes back further than 1987, I think for this experiment maybe only going back as far as 1990 would be better only because thats when the AFL really started to try and equalise the comp through drafts and salary caps. Before then clubs could be hamstrung by things like poor recruiting zones and the fact that without a decent salary cap certain clubs could afford talent others couldn’t – or even worse some clubs had to regularly had to sell off their talent to pay the bills! Without doing the same level of research id imagine Hawthorn on top closely followed by West Coast then maybe Brisbane of Geelong. My team drops on the table dramatically unfortunately!

Unfortunately we have probably lost the big mid season clashes for ever but having it in the AFL X might not be such a bad idea – had a passing interest in X first year because it was actual teams. No interest last year because im not an 11 year so nothing about it was remotely appealing – but make it an origin series and i may have a passing interest again – which is better than last year where no one i knew watched it. NO ONE!!

I reckon youll be almost spot on – in my opinion Port and Freo are both flakey for diffrent reasons and cant be assured a spot. I expect the slightly less flakey Essendon will get in by seasons end replacing one of them – then lets get set for another finals series with the same handful of teams at the pointy end of the finals as last year (except the flakeyest of all teams – bloody Melbourne)
