Well written if depressing article Nick. Can we not put clauses into player contracts very early on in their careers? For example that any future Wallaby contracts supersedes a contract signed subsequently in Japan. This would mean that when they sign a contract with a Japanese club, time away for Wallaby duties is already written in from day 1.

ANALYSIS: Australian Super Rugby teams and the game of snakes and ladders

I totally get that but there were other options I thought. Reducing sponsorship or delaying it. They’ve subsequently spent millions on a global advertising campaign so it wasn’t as though they had put away their marketing cheque book for good.

REACTION: 'Really disappointing'- Trans-Tasman gulf remains a chasm as Reds choke and Hurricanes rip in

I’m no supporter of Folau buy I think Qantas threatening to pull their sponsorship if he stayed on I rugby and then pulling it anyway was a bad result for everyone concerned.

Both Minhaaj and Mounga have been scratched. Obviously I had backed both weeks ago.

Golden Slipper Day 2022: Group 1 previews and tips

What I love is that when past English teams came out and played our state teams the English media cried foul. They accused us of ” softening ” them up with a gruelling schedule etc. Now some of them are saying that without these traditional matches the test team is underdone. Brilliant.

UK View: 'Broken' England's 'full spectrum of ineptitude' on show as Aussies storm home in 'cruel, agonising' finale

New Zealand seem to have found the right balance if you ask me. They play great cricket and are adored wherever they go around the world. This seems like a model that will win you matches, fans and the resulting financial benefits that come with it.

'One less adult in the room': Chappell reveals Steve Smith Ashes meltdown, calls out Lehmann, Waugh over sledging

Another season of highs and lows for the Wallabies but there was enough there to be hopeful going forward. As there always is for desperate long suffering fans. I was thrilled with the form of Michael Hooper coming back from Japan. There was ,I think, one game in which almost the entire Roar community thought that he deserved his spot in the team which is far rarer than rare Wallaby wins!

Top five moments in Australian rugby in 2021

These spring tours. You’ve got to win by twenty points to outfox the refs and scramble a win. I used to look forward to these for months and now I watch them full of dread, waiting for the iinevitable controversy.

MATCH REPORT: 'Horrendous'! Rennie anger as 14-man Wallabies beaten at the death

Or me for that matter PK. If the committee ever get a hold of some of my comments, particularly in the games we’ve played against England (Farrell shoulder charge anyone) they would have given me life with no parole.

ANALYSIS: How and why World Rugby's panel reached its verdict in the Erasmus case

It makes it hard to accept any future apology at face value when your first reaction is to appeal the decision.

ANALYSIS: How and why World Rugby's panel reached its verdict in the Erasmus case

We should have our own popularity vote. I will kick things off by nominating myself in all categories.

Three Wallabies nominated for World Rugby's player of the year awards

I understand the logic of your argument but how on earth has Foster been nominated for coach of the year when every kiwi I’ve heard from wants him out??

Three Wallabies nominated for World Rugby's player of the year awards

God these spring tours have been depressing. Sunday morning starts with such promise. Bacon and egg roll…check. Strong coffee…check. Phone hidden to avoid any pesky idiots who don’t understand overnight taping protocols…check.
Heartbreak and misery all Sunday followed by the inevitable autopsy on Monday…check.
Seriously what kind of moron would support the Wallabies?
See you all next week.

The Wrap: Familiar themes emerge as Wallabies and All Blacks are pasted by England and Ireland

Well Neasham doesn’t think Mo’unga can beat Zaki…which I only read this morning…ouch!

Cox Plate runner-by-runner preview and tips

I’m with Mo’unga at 20 to 1 but only because I thought it was overs. Now it’s at 14s I’m feeling better about my bet but by no means confident.

Thanks. So no free to air which I thought they’d committed to? Is that the same for the UK tour?

'A chance to change perception': Successful spring tour would mean more than usual for Wallabies

Can’t find the Japanese game on TV this weekend. Anyone know what’s happening?

Let it rain !!!!

The Everest runner-by-runner preview and tips

Delighted to see you tip Gytrash as I feel like he is in some ways the forgotten horse. Gate 1 shouldn’t be a problem if they go flat out up front as gaps will inevitably appear in the straight. Can’t wait.

The Everest runner-by-runner preview and tips

And yet Barb Raider cantered in by 3 1/2 lengths at Sandown so I’m still not ruling it out.

Thousand Guineas: Group 1 tips and preview

I like what you have done here Geoff. You have unleashed the Kraken.

Seven Wallabies, five All Blacks and three Boks in our Team of The Rugby Championship

On the secret ” moral victory ” standings that are run concurrently by the Illuminati, the Wallabies are of course the world number one and have been for years.

MATCH REPORT: Springboks edge All Blacks in one of the GREATEST Tests

Crikey. Well done Greg Holmes! Now if only I can find that old pair of boots I threw in the garage 25 years ago…

TEAM CONFIRMED: McMahon on bench, Holmes becomes oldest Wallaby in pro era, Tate rested

Indeed. But it did get the response I was looking for from our Kiwi cousins. Like taking candy from a baby.

MATCH REPORT: 'Box office' Thor hammers South Africa as Wallabies charge to famous victory

I love this game. Last time they played, England beat New Zealand, South Africa beat England and the British Lions and we have now beaten South Africa…making the Wallabies quite clearly the best team in the world.
