Surely Hogan is twice the player Darling is.

Who is the AFL’s best young key forward under the age of 24?

Look, I have to say that I would be very surprised if Carlton don’t finish top 8 next year. The Blues have at least 1-2 or good players and a new coaching staff, a sure fire combination to progress up the ladder :))

2016 AFL season forecast: Where will your team finish?

God I hope Shaun Marsh doesn’t get a game; the mans useless.
Also, what do people think about James Faulkner coming in for Mitch Marsh?

Bancroft must replace injured Khawaja in Adelaide

Ryan, why on earth would Carlton trade their 2 best and most valuable players in Murphy and Gibbs? They are 2 of the most experienced players on the list, have both won club Best and Fairest’s, and pretty much carry (bar Cripps) our midfield. The picks gained from either deal would have to be a speculative chance at best to replicate their deeds in the Navy Blue.

Secondly, you can’t tell me Tom Bell and Blaine Boekhurst are ‘very good’ players. Bell’s disposal efficiency is horrendous, and he seems to have a crack at the big sticks every time he’s within 70 metres; both not great traits to have.
Boekhurst played a handful of games this year, and in all honesty, who knows if he’ll become a decent player. I have doubts he will ever be a B-B+ grade player, let alone an A or a ‘very good’ player.

We will have to build a team around Weitering, Crippa, and hopefully at least one of the GWS boys. Like you said, the majority of the 4 will turn out to be rubbish.

Great article mate.

Carlton had a good trade period? Spare me

Thanks mate! Appreciate it.
Yeah, Cyril is a gun.

Cyril Rioli: Overrated or superstar?

G’day Daniel,
Bowden was a 2 time best and fairest winner, as well as a 2 time All Australian. Not a bad player, one might say. Bowden also averaged 22 disposals a game, not 25-30.
Daniel, 36 career brownlow votes, over 8 years, really does tell you how many ‘match winning’ perfomances Rioli has had, even accounting for finals. Brownlow medal votes aren’t gained by possessions, but by impact on the game. As I said in the article, Judd polled over 200 votes, with 2 30 vote years. All of the players mentioned have polled many, many more votes than Rioli in the Charlie.
In regards to your last comment, yes, that is true. But how often does that happen? Even in a lacklustre year for Pendles, he still managed to poll over double Rioli’s tally. While Cyril CAN have as much impact with 15 possessions as Pendlebury with 30, the fact is that doesn’t happen very often. Pendlebury is one of the most consistent players the game has seen; can the same be said for Rioli?
Furthermore, in the article I state that it isn’t just disposals which makes Rioli a good player.
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment mate.

Cyril Rioli: Overrated or superstar?

I’d probably take Wingard over Rioli as well. Can play a mulitude of positions and will be a absolute gun; 2 AA’s and a best and fairest and he’s only 22! Boy oh boy

Cyril Rioli: Overrated or superstar?

Thanks for reading anyway mate hahaha

Cyril Rioli: Overrated or superstar?

Rick, Stevie was able to influence games much more consistently than Rioli, though. For example, Stevie polled a combined total of 44 Brownlow votes in ’13,’14. He also managed to average over 22 disposals a game for his career, an exemplary effort for a half forward flanker cum midfielder. Thanks for reading mate.

Cyril Rioli: Overrated or superstar?

Mate Patrick Cripps doesn’t play for the Eagles! He’s a Carlton player!

Five plays that shaped the 2015 AFL grand final

Exactly what I thought George – brilliant player but could be better!
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment guys.
