Dunno. I guess I tend to the Red Symons definition of whether it fits into one of the three Fs: fleeing, fighting or flouncing.
Also, upon re-reading the list, it seems your definition is basically: does it involve a ball or ball like object? Rule 10 would basically be rule one and no need for the rest of the rules.

For the sake of argument, what constitutes a sport?

An off season learning the role would help though. I thought he did okay considering he was played out of position.

2022 NRL signings: Who will continue to amaze, and who just won’t be the same?

But is throwing everything at a game neither team *needs* to win worth it? I’m sure it will be a good game, but I would have thought risk of injury and suspension would be something the coaches and the more thoughtful players would take into consideration.

Better safe than sorry if you want your best team to get you through the finals.

Koroibete has, however, maintained a good reputation along with good performances. While he has made career decisions based on financial incentives, note his shift from League to Union, he has still maintained integrity throughout. I wish him all the best.

When wasn’t it? I think we’re just hearing about it because it’s breeches, not briefs, that are the focus.

These seem to be fairly well thought out comments. I wanted to respond by simply whacking my head into the keyboard.

Making the 8, or ladder position in general, seems to be more of a coach metric than a player one. I’m not sure that the premise of the article points towards why people follow and support particular clubs and what they “hope” for. Drawing a line through the season does not mean that supporters won’t turn up to games. Perhaps it’s more to do with “hoping their team plays well” or “hoping they show heart” or “hoping they might jag a win on the day” rather than looking at the season as a whole. There are plenty of blow out scores in bush league Aussie Rules, that doesn’t stop townships supporting their local team.

The 2021 reality for most NRL fans: Give up or pray for a miracle

Rugby league and the D word: An investigation

Gee, I don’t know. I’m not sure if it’s the on field style so much as the off field elements. I remember Djokovic being quite entertaining with his mimicry on court, quite personable and funny. But it’s his off field actions – diet, stance on vaccinations and the covid superspreader event – that may be leaving people a touch cold.

Quiet please: It's time for the Novak knocking to stop

I’m not sure how much change can occur if, as was pointed out, players whose contracts are terminated for cause are then picked up by other clubs. While past indiscretions, or screw ups, or mistakes (depending on severity) should not prevent people from working again in their chosen field, it seems that clubs who have put time and effort into player development should be rightly annoyed if, after taking a stand on a player’s behaviour, they then see another club sign them because the new club sees value in the player’s skill level.

Yes, Storm fan. Yes, happy about result. But seriously, that call. So biased. Normally, able to distance self from commentators, but Gould. *allows self hyperbolic reaction* OMG. Just so bad. Nails much shorter after Panther comeback, so well done them. Was not confident coming into game. Felt gutsy effort. Good control and experience counts for much.

A behind the back pass that’s not a forward pass. Nice work.

JOC wows at Wallabies training with this utterly filthy round-the-back pass

I’ve always felt that the casual engager with the game benefits from clear explanations from the knowledgeable “rusted on” fan. The new rule has its place, I think, but clarity over its application is somewhat lacking. Often, for those who follow the game, it’s hard to tell why the six again call is made at any given stage and therein lies the problem.

Does the new rule lead to a better game?

I agree with your disagreement as I don’t think Lynagh was either one-dimensional or unskilled. I enjoyed his work and the way he played, I just have a distinct memory of him being initially selected, and him stating, because of his boot.
