It’s a tour with no value except to blood youngsters. The top men are missing (Warner, Smith, Labuschagne, Starc, Cummins, Carey ) the surface will be nothing like the surfaces they will play on in India and it won’t matter if NZ win it 5-0. So why do we trot out the recycled failures of past campaigns. Forget Finch, Stoinis, Maxwell, Mitch Marsh, Tye etc, try something new. If just one youngster stands up it will be worth the exercise
The first t20 international
1. Josh Phillipe 2. D’Arcy Short (may need his bowling) 3. Ben McDermott 4. Callum Ferguson (c) 5. Jordan Silk 6. Josh Inglis 7. Dan Christian 8. Ben Dwarshuis 9. Nathan Ellis 10. Tanvir Sangha 11. Wes Agar
I have included two inform veterans in the form of Ferguson (harshly treated by Australian selectors) to captain the team and the ultimate pro Christian who would be a great resource. Love to find spots for Brendan Dogget, Riley Meredith, Jack Wildermuth.

What Australia’s T20 side should look like against New Zealand next month

I remember a time when world tennis was dominated by Australia and the US. Now look at the situation. I don’t think that people back in the 70s could have imagined that the two super powers of tennis would struggle to win anything. Cricket will be no different. The once mighty Australia will inevitably struggle to compete with India (we haven’t beaten them in the last 17 years in India and the last two series in Australia) and other asian countries as soon as their talented youngsters see it as a pathway out of poverty. Meanwhile our pampered youngsters don’t have to achieve a lot to make a good living out of cricket.

We need to get used to India dominating cricket

Lyon couldn’t get the job done because the SCG and Gabba pitches didn’t break up, the Indian team are great players of spin and they are predominantly right handers. I didn’t expect anything from Lyon. I doubt that many spinners would have done any better. The India A team handled Swepson with ease in the practise game. The next time we have a pitch like those, give Lyon a rest and play 4 fast bowlers. (I don’t mean Green) Someone like Pattinson or Neser.

Is Mitchell Swepson about to turn up the heat on Nathan Lyon?

So Shaun Marsh, Usman Khawaja, Josh Inglis and Kurtis Patterson are not in the top 37 cricketers in the country but Ashton Turner is? What can you expect from a selection panel consisting of a poor former leg spinner (Hohns), Mr Elite Honesty (Langer) and a bloke who thought it was a good idea to show his bum to the bowler to help his batting (Bailey)

Pattinson and Head in Australia's best XI for South Africa Tests

Starc looked sore after his first delivery when his front foot slid in delivery stride. Reached for his hamstring and looked distressed. Cameron Green may have to play a bigger role. Early wickets vital. Rohit, Shubman, Pant and their two new allrounders are capable of pulling off an unlikely win.

Aussies quicks ready to dig deep at Gabba

Now we can sack Wade and keep Green… chew, swallow… excuse me while I eat my large slice of humble pie…

Don't dare drop them – Cameron Green and Will Pucovski deserve long Test stints

I surrender!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't dare drop them – Cameron Green and Will Pucovski deserve long Test stints

Pucovski was dropped on 26 and 32, looked like he would get out to the short ball then failed in the second innings. No concerning weaknesses???Green has all the shots??? Didn’t see too many in is 21 ball duck!

Don't dare drop them – Cameron Green and Will Pucovski deserve long Test stints

If he is old enough to be selected, he is old enough to be judged on performance not potential. I hope he comes good. Australia needs him. But 68 runs at 17 and no wickets yet makes Mitchell Marsh look like a world beater!

Matthew Wade's latest shocking shot might be the end of the line

Yeah sack him. One test after his gritty efforts as an opener get rid of him. Just like Head. Get rid of him. Keep Green. Didn’t throw his wicket away. Just unlucky that he completely missed a ball and was LBW again. He is the future. Our great allrounder prospect. Hasn’t taken a wicket though, barely scored a run. So much potential though. And keep Pat Cummins at 8. Yeah sure he missed a full toss against Jadeja but he is our golden boy. Tim Paine? Clean bowled! But he did score 70 odd a few digs ago. Unlucky in Melbourne too. Don’t mention the fact that he completely missed the ball. Did that in Melbourne too. Missed it completely regardless of what snicko showed. Don’t worry about the selectors choosing an unfit David Warner…or the Australia coaching staff who have kept their jobs despite the fact that no batsmen, besides the self coached Steve and Marnus, have shown any improvement! So let us get stuck into Wade. Sack him!

Matthew Wade's latest shocking shot might be the end of the line

Its a pink ball test! The toss will more likely decide Australia’s and India’s fate than Australia’s batting order. We are just shuffling the deckchairs again. Shaun Marsh, Usman Khawaja, Marcus Harris, Joe Burns, Aaron Finch or Cameron Bancroft have been tried and have continually come up short. No one is knocking on the door in Shield. Time to take a punt. Ben McDermott and Alex Carey are presently unbeaten half centurions against India. Slot ’em in!!!!

I don't care what you say, Joe Burns can't play

I have always liked the idea of 12 teams where each plays the other team twice, home and away. (the only fair way) With a reset and the NRL opting not to support failing clubs with loans, I would like to see which clubs rise from the ashes. My ideal competition would be Cowboys, Broncos, Manly (for the hate value), Canberra, Newcastle, Parramatta, Penrith. Western Suburbs MAGPIES, Souths (need Russell), Cronulla, St George and Easts (need Nick)

It would be sad to lose Canterbury but Gold Coast (waste of money) Melbourne (transplanted team kept in place by greedy people) and NZ Warriors should go. The loss of these teams will reduce travel costs too.

What would the NRL look like if we hit the reset button?

I believe the situation is more dire than you describe. Simply beating Bangladesh and NZ (not likely given our recent performances) does not get us through to the semi finals. If NZ beat India (very possible) then 3 teams may end up level on three wins. For an against (net run rate) will decide who advances. Australia, after their insipid displays, are struggling in this regard. A narrow win against Sri Lanka will surely be bettered by India and NZ. So simply winning two games may not be enough.

So if NZ beat India on Thursday, I fear it may be all over red rover.

Australia are in a weird funk at the T20 World Cup

Rohit had no need to score at a faster rate because India was cruising to a comfortable win.

Five things we learnt from India vs Australia

“I saw some stat from that last match that in the last 10 overs Smith scored something like 35 from 20 balls…”
Because he got his century!! After he looked after himself he scored for the team!

Five things we learnt from India vs Australia

My five things would be
1. Ashton Agar should not be considered an allrounder and be selected as a bowler or not at all
2. Ashton Turner should not be selected
3. Pat Cummins can’t bat at number 8
4. Shouldn’t have both Smith and Labuschagne. I’d choose Labuschagne (not as selfish!)
5. Mitch Marsh (chosen as a BOWLING allrounder) and Glenn Maxwell have to be selected.

And the Turner experiment… and batting Pat Cummins at 8 …

India thump Australia to claim ODI series

The lunatics are running the asylum! What a joke! I like to see bowlers celebrate. If he wasn’t abusive toward Root then I applaud the theatre. Suspended for a test? I fear for the future of test cricket.

Proteas coach queries legitimacy of Rabada suspension

Your heading reads “No surprises …” then you begin a paragraph with ” The big surprise …” The non selection of Molly Strano was UNFAIR! Selecting James Sutherland’s daughter ahead of her smacks of nepotism.

No surprises with ICC T20 Women's World Cup squad

No

Was Aaron Finch dudded by controversial stumping decision?

Andrew McDonald was a decent player too. Good first class averages Bat – 39.54 and Ball -201 wickets @ 28.73. Much healthier than the likes of M Marsh, Stoinis and Wildermuth. He played 4 tests but all were against South Africa when they were strong. Still managed a few wickets at a reasonable average and scored 68 in his final test innings. Sadly became one of many players too quickly discarded by selectors. I am pleased he is finding success now.

Serial winner McDonald continues to impress

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Poor rule change. Immediate rewrite required. The player shouldn’t be allowed to jump from outside the field of play whether he initially touched it from inside the field of play or not. Imagine if Renshaw’s first attempt stayed out. He could have had a second go, or more.. Maybe if his team mate needed more time he could have jumped up and played solo volleyball for a while or simply repeated the jumps until he reached the field of play himself. Change the rule and have a look at the rule where a batsmen can be caught if he hits a fielder on the helmet too!

Wade wiser after bizarre BBL catch

Yes the selectors persevered with him because Langer made up 50% of the selection committee! (Bailey wasn’t involved) Give a bloke a heap of chances and he is bound to come off once or twice. This is a site which encourages people to express their views. Unfortunately it attracts negative, aggressive, simpletons who support the establishment regardless of logic:
“His form of late has been pretty average but the selectors obviously believe he’s worth persevering with…”

Some facts: Ashton Turner’s last 11 innings: 1, 3, 28, 3, 4, 6, 1, 36, 4, 28, 14. Total of 128 runs @ 11.63. Doesn’t bowl, can’t throw! Yeah that makes me laugh too!
