Agree with you crug,

I think this can also be related to the recent scandals etc. of players not behaving right. It’s downright stupid, these muppets need to shape up not just for their club, but for themselves.

Is a booze ban a sign of strength or weakness?

Good article, some very strong points raised.

Is a booze ban a sign of strength or weakness?

Hey Epiquin.
Yes, State of Origin will sell out if it’s played in Melbourne. But you have to take into account the atmosphere, neutral venues will never come close to what you’d get at ANZ, Lang park etc. lots of my mates have travelled to Origin games in Melbourne and even tell me some chanted “boring”. I have only been to one Origin game and it was the time of my life, I loved every minute of it. But that was along time ago. Its been at least over 5 years since I have last been to a match. But you know why I wrote this? Because when I watch State of Origin from here in Singapore, I can feel the atmosphere through the television. It still gives me the chills and honestly, There’s nothing better than sitting around the TV with a couple of family friends etc. and cheering on the mighty blues. I love State of Origin and for most people, it’s an escape. I hope it forever stays the same. I’m not bagging the MCG, AFL finals are amazing. I havent made up my mind about Origin being played internationally, thats why I didnt mention it. But Melbourne is in the state right next to NSW, I used those TV rating to emphasise how popular it is and how melbourne as a host is quite pointless. Origin might make money and revenues in Melbourne and reel in more viewers. But at what cost? We lose the tradition and atmosphere of the game people love and treasure so much?

Melbourne is the third wheel when it comes to hosting Origin

Hi Rodney

Tanks for your concerns. Yes, there is Rugby League pleayed in Singapore. But at the age I came to Singapore, I was unable to join. I still aren’t, these are organisations that offer the game. Though there is no competing teams etc. I raised this issue as I have been told countless time by friends at school etc. This “I would love to play both League and Union, but I can’t. And because of this when I go back to Aus, I will play Union as I am more skilled”. Most people here will join a sports club because their mates play it etc. Because kids can’t play the tackle rugby league and all their friends play Union, the game dies off. These are people who choose Union and when they get to 17 etc. and return to Aus they choose union. I have multiple cases of this.
If you were very serious about competing in NRL etc. when older and you were underage for the RL they play here. They would iquire about maybe becoming a part of this organisation. But that would be a hassle. And they would be left alone. Also this would more be a place to practise the game. It’s simply easier just to train and play RL at home with your families.

Great article, this summed up pretty much all my emotions after watching State of Origin. Except for the 5 am part, I’m a Blues fan. Living in Singapore, I understand where you’re coming from, you can literally forget about everything going on and escape for 80 minutes into IMO the greatest sporting event. There is no adjective for State of Origin, it’s pure magician material.

Take off the Maroon glasses and it was... a hell of a game

This is a very well-worded article. Summarised everything from last nights great match in good form. Not to biased, but still good enough I could tell you supported the Blues. This is a perfect article for someone who missed the game last night. Summarised in great context. Well done!

Think this article shows you have a very good understanding of the situation. Well summed up, 100% agree with what you’re saying.

Does Blake Ferguson deserve another chance?
