Great article!

The next month is key!

Unpopular opinion here but I think the reds look worse with paisami and Campbell AND at time Tate. They all make inroads, make breaks and metres but honestly the play seems to break down often after they make a line break.

Either the team doesn’t know how to play with them yet or something else is wrong. The reds play at their best with the forwards humming and I haven’t seen much cohesion in the backs yet. Vunivalu looks lost and I’m not going to bag him, can we honestly say he is getting decent ball regularly? He reminds me on Wendell at the reds.

Five things: Lesson Aussie rugby can learn from Kiwis - and why next month will determine whether SR gap has closed

I disagree they lost me at that Rebels game… and other than last night, they have been average. I’ll be at the next one though… Will you?

'Last few years have been hell': Iceman 2.0 Harrison gets 'dream come true' in Tahs' stunning golden point win

It’s such a good feeling to wake up this morning… I must admit I turned off the TV in disgust at the 78th minute… my wife was next to me, and I quote, “Don’t give up that easily.”

Sure enough, I jumped on Twitter, and it is 40 all. The rest is history, including Johnny Howard smiling. Indeed, it is a great feeling.

Now that I have time to digest, it is still hard to get past the fact that it has not been a good season so far. As much as DC seems like a great bloke and someone you could sink a few schooners with, I still think we need a new coaching team. I said this before, and I stand by it.

That game could have been a loss, and I am afraid DC does not have the tools to take this team to the next level yet.

Happy to eat humble pie if he proves me wrong!

In addition, I did not go to the game, despite being a member…that says a lot about how this team is going. I would never miss a game. Honestly, I know so many rugby fans that have given up on the Tahs, and just when you get some momentum, they seem to … up. Case in Point if that game.

So, I am not going to be Debbie Downer, and I will be a happy man today!

Also, I will add my two cents.

The Tahs have two weeks until they play the Chiefs at home. If I were the GM, I would make every available player turn up to Club Rugby today and next week armed with freebies, stickers, footy, you name it. Promote the next game!!! A couple of players at each game would do wonders. Turn up at a couple of schools, and surely, you could get a few more through the gates. THEY DON’T DO ENOUGH OF THIS!!!

Next, the game will likely be a great chance to build momentum in the stands; they blew their chance against the Highlanders after beating the Crusaders in Melbourne. Don’t let it happen again! You have two weeks to prepare. They got 13k for the Highlanders game; the benchmark should be 17k for this one!

Start a social media banter campaign for two weeks targeting Kiwis in Sydney; it’s fun stuff, but build up the hype!

Last but not least, every Tahs fan on this forum that can make the game BRING ONE friend! I am bringing my father-in-law, who is a massive league fan (he watched that game last night), and two other mates = Put me down for 4 tickets!

Go Tahs!!!

'What the hell's going on': Ex-Wallabies question 'losing' culture, pathways at Waratahs

If hooked gets anywhere near the Tahs… well they might as well throw in the towel. They keep hiring blokes that have little experience and learn their trade on the job. If they learn at all. Winning in club rugby doesn’t make you a SR coach. And I don’t care about coaching pathways. The Tahs need a proper experienced coach

'What the hell's going on': Ex-Wallabies question 'losing' culture, pathways at Waratahs

Agree; winning SS does not make you a SR coach AND that is the problem with the Tahs, we keep hiring the same type of coach every time.

I’d rather they cut some players and make room to hire coaches with the mileage under their belts who have the rugby smarts to win big games. Honestly, I feel Chris Whittaker is learning the trade on the job.

'Something's not working': Tahs' Good Friday turns into a nightmare as Rebels recruit Daugunu seals upset win

Honestly, I think they need a hard taskmaster at this stage; DC seems like a nice bloke, but either the team is not listening, or he has a lot of room.

When Dylan Pietsch didn’t pass the ball back inside to the hooker with the line open, I was filthy! I not saying DC would hug him and say “Nice try” BUT he doesn’t seem like the type of coach who would give him serving and tell him to get his …. together

We are going to get the same BS next year unless something happens; the “close enough, good enough” mentality needs to go.

'Something's not working': Tahs' Good Friday turns into a nightmare as Rebels recruit Daugunu seals upset win

They need a “Nect level” coach, Gibson had no idea, they keep hiring the same coach every year.

They need someone with a solid track record; winning Shute Shield does not make you a SR coach.

More importantly, they need a good coaching team, no offense to Chris Whittaker, but you can’t learn your trade as you go at this level.

'Something's not working': Tahs' Good Friday turns into a nightmare as Rebels recruit Daugunu seals upset win

And that’s the point, don’t think that things will change next year unless something happens at coaching level

The game against the Drua basically made realise we are a bottom of table team and nothing more. When the drop goal to win it was the call. Nota single player knew how to set it up. Champions teams know how to execute. DC seems like a good bloke but at this level it is not enough.

'Something's not working': Tahs' Good Friday turns into a nightmare as Rebels recruit Daugunu seals upset win

He would have had a response from the team; this team is either not listening to DC and Co OR the DC and are…

'Something's not working': Tahs' Good Friday turns into a nightmare as Rebels recruit Daugunu seals upset win

Yes the coach is not responsible on the field BUT they have been playing likes this for years. 3 to be precise. They need new ideas and DC does not have them. Cheika would have given them the mother of all serves. DC probably sat them down to talk about it. Enough of the nice blokes. We need. Hard task master now

'Something's not working': Tahs' Good Friday turns into a nightmare as Rebels recruit Daugunu seals upset win

I said it a while ago in another forum. Player that have a for out the door should pack their bags. Yes you are right but how come this team does not know how to close or win games by now? That’s on the coaching staff. They have two or three tricks in their repertoire and that’s it!

Also this a game they had to win and half the line up was 2nd grade. Is that the best we have? Any coach should know that tupou was coming on in the second half to dominate the scrum. When was Angus Bell?!!!

'Something's not working': Tahs' Good Friday turns into a nightmare as Rebels recruit Daugunu seals upset win

Indeed. For some reason the Waratahs keep recruiting “good blokes” as coaches and we get the same thing year and year out. I bet it was all hugs after the game. Tahs need another cheika, who would have probably made them walk home with no shower

“Surely anything is better than this sh—t”

I am sorry but the rugby over the weekend was fantastic

ANALYSIS: The Rebels aren't going down without a fight - and they might drag Rugby Australia down with them

And this is the point Not Sustainable long term, they keep making the same mistakes over and over again!

'Ready to go': Jaguares set for early return to Super Rugby if Rebels fall over

Garbage!

These people don’t learn; here we go again, traveling around the world for ONE game; who is going to pay for this?!

I’m over it; fine cut the Rebels if you want, but stop adding ….. teams from the other side of the world pretty soon. Every team will be broke!

'Ready to go': Jaguares set for early return to Super Rugby if Rebels fall over

I think they break it down between Metro, Regional, Gem, etc

To put it into perspective, some games don’t crack the list at all, good start

The Wrap: Opening round of SRP a case of the more things change, the more they stay the same

I think with nicer weather, they probably would have gotten closer to the 20k

Good numbers on TV though

The Wrap: Opening round of SRP a case of the more things change, the more they stay the same

100000%

Can anyone honestly say that over a few hundred people pay to go to club games? And before anyone tells me how great Manly vs Rats is… well the games are usually full of lower grades and family.

Yes, they stuffed up SR by expanding, and yes, definitely expanding to Argentina and Japan. Honestly, what on earth made them think that traveling across the globe for one game is a good idea?

As a fan, I will not pay to watch park footy, so either SR or nothing for me.

THE only solution as crazy as it might sound is WIN SOME GAMES! and the rest will follow,

Wins will bring the crowd, that is the only thing that passive rugby fans want.

Poaching NZ coaches won't solve the Wallabies' woes - the real solution is a lot less sexy

What a shame … AND disgrace!!

I know that several issues have probably been bubbling over the years at the Rebels, but really disappointing,

Now I’ll get one less game next year as a Tash member and probably at a higher $$$…

We know what is going to happen… that Lions game will go to the Force next year and no doubt another SR team will come out of somewhere to fill the spot – Rubbish!!

I guess RA can only afford so much at the moment, what on earth made them decide to hire EJ and give him all that $$$$ ?!!!!

The whole place is clueless…

CONFIRMED: Rebels CEO made redundant and coaches have contract cuts as hopes of Super Rugby survival fade

I know it was only a trial game, but geez… The Tahs look way off the mark.

I said it last year: the Rebels and Reds were playing against Japanese teams, Force against Cheetahs, preparing their season and doing the work… The Tahs? Nothing!

Honestly, they did not look like scoring at any stage of the game, bar that kick at the end.

At this rate, DC is gone by round 4, and we are in for a long season…

Lift boys!!!!

Ha ha we need more banter!!!

Bring it!

Brumbies shut down talk of following Rebels into voluntary administration

100%

There is obviously an agenda that is driving a merger or at least for the Rebels to be history.

As a Tahs fan I would love to see the Rebels and Brumbies top the table
