Sitting up and taking nourishment

Conspiracy theorists, start your engines.
Four penalty claims, two at least “stone wall”, all of them fail. At the start of the second half, as they come out of the tunnel, Covic is clearly complaining to the ref about the lasers in his eyes. The ref seems to reply that he’s aware and Covic should leave it to him. But what could the ref do? Stop the game until all the lasers are retrieved from the stands? Considering the volatility of the crowd and the international TV audience, that was probably not an option. So he quietly decides that any fouls on the area that don’t actually remove a limb of one of the attacking players will get nothing from him. What if he’d awarded a penalty and Covic had refused to stand on the line because of the lasers?
Is it possible that the ref applied some zen-like natural justice, some instant karma to an impossible situation? I’d like to think so (and I’n not a Wanderers fan).
By the way, regarding whether or not they deserved to win, if a team is relying on the ref to get them over the line, all their fancy-dan football counts for nothing. It’s the size of the fight in the dog, not the size of the dog in the fight.

Western Sydney are deserved Asian champions

Rogic is highly regarded at Celtic – especially by the fans – but that lack of a speed burst mentioned above and the tendency to hold the ball a little too long comes across as hesitancy and encourages defenders to get onto him. With the benefit of 20-20 hindsight, it’s a shame he or his minders pushed to get away from Celtic to get some game time as, with the Scottish league well and truly sewn up, Celtic are bringing a stack of young players into the first team. Playing in the first team in a non-pressured environment may be exactly what he needs right now as I think confidence is the key. But maybe he would have been injured anyway. Seriously, his Australian sojourn will probably be over on Sunday and he can get back to Glasgow for the last three games of the season. There will be chances next season as players move on – we can only hope he is fit and mentally strong enough to take them. As for the World Cup, I wouldn’t leave him out of the squad just yet
