Only 2 of the 3 judges said ‘not guilty’. A jury of peers found him guilty… imagine having the financial backing and powerful influence of the catholic church to keep appealing child sex offences.
The civil action will be interesting.

The point i was alluding to, sports broadcast rights aren’t really impacted by controversies… just advertising revenue.

Sport = gambling ad revenue. The only thing that will impact broadcast deals is restrictions on gambling advertising, and you can bet (pun intended) these deals have clauses to address this.

Just curious… was it deleted, or got picked up by a filter and hasn’t gone through moderation yet? That happens to me every now and then, usually an innocuous word too. Eg. The Lions coach’s surname would get flagged.

What do you mean the ABC wants to “compete with commercial networks”? The ABC has guaranteed funding, and provides content for viewers/listeners as per it’s charter… it has to appeal to people.
Just because newscorp, 9news media et al, constantly bag the ABC, it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t exist. If we had no ABC, we would only have reality tv, and conservative talking heads screaming about roaming african gangs in Melbourne preventing people going to restaurants.

Actually, the ABC has a proud history of investigative journalism, uncovering many sordid activities which would otherwise remain in the dark. What exactly do you think Louise Milligan has reported on that was proven wrong?
I am more concerned about the amount of taxpayers money spent by thin skinned politicians engaging in defamation action against citizens social media posts.

The report has legitimacy, as Hawthorn have self reported to the AFL.
Someone who is accused of wrong doing will either deny, down play, or distance themselves from said wrong doing… i don’t expect Clarko to put his hand up. Remember James Hird pleading ignorance over their injection regime, but the club doctor, bruce reid, had expressed concern over the program?

If they were keen on getting Lobb, they could convert a high round 1 into 2 picks (Freo has done this before). This is dependent on doggies having acquired a couple of round 1s through outgoing trade.
If Freo feel next year is a genuine chance for a GF, we surely need to keep Lobb because Logue is leaving. A potential forward line of Luke Jackson, an emerging Jye Amiss, and a good target in Lobb, would be strongest forward line we’ve had in a while.
