Sorry all – i’ve been absent from the discussion for several days and have been unable to answer some of your questions, enter the debate and clear a few issues up. All due to the pressures of the modern world!!

Just quickly though, in response to The Bear’s comments about “a well edited” piece on the issue using MY quotes…this is in fact incorrect. Another Tassie journalist, Walter Pless, interviewed Wade and Foster and used the same angle as my piece – even though we had both discussed angles before hand and he had made no mention of this!

Anyway that is a trivial issue.

Any questions/comments, fire my way,

Cheers, Julius

As I have tried to demonstrate….these are not my beliefs, nor my opinions – they are Fosters.

It seems that a few of you have translated the comments of Wades and Fosters as my own…..?

In hindsight I agree also that I have “trodden a very fine line” – I guess this shows my inexperience on posting on the Roar – I can only improve and learn from such a mistake.

Although, being a Tasmanian, I would love to see a Tasmanian team in the A-League and cannot hide this bias, i thought that rather than writing an article centred on my own opinion – which may encourage responses such as “Tassie in the A-league – No Way!” “Forget it”, I would let Craig Foster and Paul Wade’s comments stimulate the debate, instead of my own.

Of course here in Tasmania, writing an article showing the support of Foster and Wade would be a coup for the public, but posting it here on a national site with national opinions may have been an incorrect decision.

I would like to think that the article has not been a PR tactic but rather one which has contributed to the general discussion of the current ideal to expand the A-League – one which may be beneficial if it expansion includes Canberra, Tasmania and the Northern Territory – to create a ‘truly national’ comp.

Yes OF COURSE I am aware that they are all Tasmanian…and I am aware that they would obviously support a Tasmanian team.

Your point is valid as Tasmania lacks the talent in soccer that the AFL boasts in such players as Richardson/Roberston/Lynch etc for us to talk to and show support for a team.

But it would be stupid not to approach Foster and Wade on the issue of Tasmania in the A-League when they are visiting Tasmania – or in any case if they were visiting any region which is bidding for a position in the league – and ask them their thoughts on the issue.
