Very impressed with the Wanderers central defence,

If he’s still in this great form come March, Topor-Stanley should get a call from Ange to join the Socceroos training camp.

Popovic outsmarts Muscat to move into A-League favouritism

I thought the referee was very good and kept the play flowing as best he could.
For the neutral, it was a great, action packed game.

Yellow card tally so far this season, Victory 24 Wanderers 26, so not much in it.

Popovic clearly had the tactical upper hand and beat Muscat at his own game.

“. . . the elusive crazy man Besart Berisha and Greece lightning Costa Barbarouses . . . ”

Sorry c,
I Apollo-gise and moustache you to forgive the puns.

The Greeks have always produced good footballers since way back in the days of Soccer’ates and Pele’to.

Absolutely.
They can do whatever they like, but they can’t do anything without the paying fans!

Can’t wait for the Sunday Telegraph article his weekend from Mick Carroll and Rebecca Wilson saying how the FFA has gone soft on “Sokka Hoolicans”.

A-League active supporters to return to the stands this weekend

You’re on your Pat Malone there, unless you can produce some references to back your claims.

What’s the point you’re trying to make? Football hasn’t improved in the last ten years.

FFA national audit reveals football participation boom

“FFA national audit reveals football participation boom”

This is the headline and story that Rebecca Wilson and Rupert Murdoch were trying to keep from the public eye.

FFA national audit reveals football participation boom

Looks like the fans are back.

Tickets to the Victory game are selling very well with only the odd ticket here and there left.

Will be close to a “sellout” anyway, despite how many people boycott the game.
Most of the people who boycotted have already paid for season tickets.

You can't sell the A-League without active fans

I can’t see participation figures falling Mid based on the momentum of a 20% increase in one year.

That’s huge and will have a flow on effect for years to come.

FFA national audit reveals football participation boom

Rubbish Mr Negative Football,
football has not been “the most popular sport for over a century in NSW”.

The big increases only started after Germany 2006 and the A-League kicking off.

Its taken a lot of work over a decade for football participation to slowly overtake cricket, rugby league and finally netball as the most popular team sport for juniors.

The kids love it and they are the ones deciding what they play.

I’ve lived in Sydney all my life and we even played Melbourne Rules when I was a kid at school. I just liked football better and so did a lot of my mates.

In fact, all A-league supporters also support another European team.

The FFA do have a lot of things to consider, but finding people interested in football is not one of them.

There are nearly 2 million Aussies who play football regularly and just about as many more who follow football as a sport.

Then there are many Rugby and AFL fans who follow football and the Socceroos.

We need a vision, a plan and a course of action to get them to an A-League game.

Maybe start with giving one complimentary double pass or family pass to an A-League game to anyone who registers to play football.

Good pat on the back!

PRICHARD: Fan issue just the start of massive shake-up for FFA

Err . . . slight correction.

In the article, I meant to say “. . . journalists have effectively used soccer as the prefix of the word hooligan.

Don't exclude the fans in the solution, FFA

I believe the police are part of the problem.

They look more frightening and in-human to me than the fans and are just itching to practice their martial arts skills on some unfortunate slightly drunk fan.

They look like they hate every football fan, not just the troublemakers.

Don't exclude the fans in the solution, FFA

Me too, further, don’t watch or contribute one cent to anything run by Rupert Murdoch.

Let’s give outrage merchants and code warriors the red card

Stott is a bit out of date now. Even he admits that things have improved significantly in Britain in the last 30 years and most people would have to agree.

This is mainly due to an inclusive treatment or fans compared to the old police state exclusive treatment of the problem people.

The pockets of hooliganism left are strongly linked to right wing political groups and criminal gangs, which are not exclusive to football.

Don't exclude the fans in the solution, FFA

Football violence in Argentina has changed in recent years, and is now more likely to be between supporters of the same team, as they vie for dominance of illegal ticket sales, stadium business and extortion of players and directors.

These are local criminal mafia gangs who among other things extort money, kidnap and ask for ransom money. They are not football fans. They are criminals

With the help of the Lets save Football fan groups and local police a lot of these criminals have been rounded up and clubs are standing up to them and refusing to pay the protection money and other extortion attempts.

They are not there yet, but the tide is definitely turning though inclusive collaboration by genuine football fans and the authorities.

Great game, one of the best this season so far.
Sydney FC had the chance to buy Mitch Nicholls.
McLaren is a class striker and a bolter for the Socceroos.

I was at the Sydney derby and I said to my mate, who is a WSW fan, that I was very impressed with the way they played against Sydney, even though they lost.

Frankly, I thought they should have beaten Sydney FC.

I also said to him that if they keep playing like that, there wouldn’t be many teams that would beat them.
Here we go, they’ve won six straight since then, top of the league.

We’re getting tickets to the Victory game, should be another great game and Parra Stadium is a better ground for watching football.

Absent fans miss cracking contest between title contenders

Crowds are down for A-League but still about 500% better than the best NSL average round.

Most of the people who didn’t show are paid up season ticket holders so impact to Club revenue is minimal.

If you want to hurt the FFA, you have to impact the FFA’s revenue streams and bottom line, which is Socceroos games, player registration fees and finals games, where gate receipts go to FFA.

A-League crowds drop substantially in Round 9

HIGHLIGHTS: Nichols stunner powers Wanderers to top

Its a joke.

More A-League supporter groups join boycott

If the A-League dies, they’ll know what the problem is and it will be of their own doing – both sides.

Now is a perfect opportunity to get together and set things right, admit your mistake and win the fans back plus some more.

Leadership begins with taking positive action to grow amid change.

We don’t need News Limited or Rebecca Wilson – they are never going to contribute as much to football as the fans are to the game.

More A-League supporter groups join boycott

Yes but football is way ahead of other codes in terms of participation rates, international recognition and international television ratings.

Could the negative media actually be a positive for football?

You too are assuming that the 198 are all guilty.

The hooligans in other sports get away with murder. . . . literally.

As per my calculations above, there is only about 1 fan ejected from an A-League game every 6 or 7 games on average over the ten years of the A-League.

How does that stack up?

Could the negative media actually be a positive for football?

Can we apply the Victory model to the rest of the league and the FFA?

Why isn’t Gallop or De Buhn organising business lunches and giving speeches applauding the fans and the FFA work colleagues doing a great job, despite all the criticisms.

Maybe they might even get a major sponsor for the Socceroos if they did.

My nomination for CEO would be Lyall Gorman, who did a brilliant job setting up the Wanderers by engaging so well with the fans.
Leadership and consultation.
