Overrated hey OJ?

All Blacks make five changes

I think BR is probably down on fitness.

When he is fully fit he has an excellent work rate. When fit he tends to pinch a few steals at ruck time which he hasnt been doing of late (though he got pinged on the weekend for not releasing the tackled player before the pinch).

All Blacks make five changes

I find it laughable that the FFA see the WC in 12 or 14 years time (or whenever it is) is going to be the saviour of soccer in this country.

I’ll give you the tip now – If we win the bid it will be a showcase for 4 weeks. Once the caravan leaves then people WILL go back to life as before the WC.

Rugby has learnt this lesson the hardway and the FFA will too.

The knife gets stuck into the FFA hard and justifiably

Agree with your point OJ and its another reason why rugby struggles in this country.

Prices are exhorbitant and the ARU continue to believe that all rugby followers are well heeled. They need to max out crowds and grow the supporter base. You wont do that with over priced tickets. The traditional supporter demographic is changing very quickly particularly with the amount of Kiwi expats and Islanders who often do not have the incomes of trational “private school” supporters. This will only become more and more common, Its a pity the ARU seem to be unaware of this phenomenom

Another example is the the Rebels next year – their prices are an absolute disgrace. A Victory fan gets a 15 match home season and the ticket is cheaper than an 8 match season pass for the Rebels. Its obscene…

Rugby is a dying game in Australia

Sid I adisagree, if this team was winning consistently the crowds would be there. Quite simply we havent had a winning culture in Tests or S14 for a number of years. It takes its toll.

Look at Essendon in the AFL this year. A traditional powerhouse who are losing too much and their crowds have droppped dramatically.

Winning CANNOT be underestimated

Rugby is a dying game in Australia

I would imagine we are in clear 3rd arent we.

Sorry it may be splitting hairs but at the moment soccer in this country is in HUGE trouble. I am a part time soccer fan and wish it all the best. However they are in a whole lot of trouble and if they think a WC here is the saving grace then may I present Rugby World Cup 2003 as exhibit A for the defence!

Rugby is a dying game in Australia

“It was a master stroke to get Deans and if it wasn’t for him we’d be in a far worse state.”

You could have knocked me over with a feather. Who would have thought getting a coach who is losing almost as many games as he is winning would be the saviour of rugby in this country.

Fair dinkum get some reality…

Rugby is a dying game in Australia

Cheers Frank, I just recall JOC taking the ball above his head and then just flying. Amazing acceleration. Gee he tackled well this week too. I noticed him hard around the legs many times. Like you though I believe his best spot is 12. If given the opportunity he can easily be better than Gits as a 12.

The altitude/attitude win the Wallabies had to have

Thanks Sam, I knew the poor bugger had to essentially jump to take it!

Apologies Frank, my memory is appallling at times 😉

The altitude/attitude win the Wallabies had to have

Didnt the same coach have them on top of the world last year???

The altitude/attitude win the Wallabies had to have

Bayboy – Its easy to say SA didnt play in the first half but they were not allowed to.

That first 30 minutes was breathtaking and most sides would have been looking at a big deficit. They were totally outplayed by AUS in that first 40.

The altitude/attitude win the Wallabies had to have

JP – Any player on either team could have thrown that ball to Beale, it was a piece of cake and basic rugby.

KPM – Cooper had a hand in 3 of 5 from my memory. Deans has had a tough time but I think he deserves to be heavily scrutinesd.

The win was fantastic and COULD be the catalyst for this team but it could just be another out of the box performace too. There is still alot for Deans to do IMO.

The altitude/attitude win the Wallabies had to have

Frank I thought Elsoms try came from JOC taking a bomb centre field and slicing through Habana and outpacing the others before finding Rocky?

The altitude/attitude win the Wallabies had to have

The AB defence is a couple of steps above anyones at the moment amd AUS is a couple of steps below where it needs to be. The ABs have it in the forwards and with Carter out and Cooper in you would give the edge to AUS in the backs.

I think the ABs win by at least 10 with the relative physical conditions of the players at polar opposites.

The altitude/attitude win the Wallabies had to have

DCR – If we are talking about Deans as a selector then I have to disagree. Maafu should never have been picked and still shouldnt be. Most Roarers have been calling for his and Browns head for months and I have been staggered it has taken this long to give BMcCalman a run. Mumm still gets a run and is as tough as a marshmellow, though at least Marshmallows have some use!

Credit to him on Slipper, he looks the goods. Lets not forget though that this team is still leaking points like no other in history. We used to be the best defensive side in the world, now we up about the worst.

The altitude/attitude win the Wallabies had to have

KPM is giving way too much credit to Deans on this. The only reason AUS are able to play with such width is becuase of Cooper. Gits has never been a great passer and JOC was not firing people into holes on the weekend. Beale is becoming a very good counter attacker. Both these guiys were making busts because of Cooper not because of their playmaking ability.

AUS still lack strike runners – with Genia/Cooper you dont need any more playmakers.

The altitude/attitude win the Wallabies had to have

Brilliant. He is THE most important player in the country. AUS cannot win big Test without him in the side…

Cooper to stay with Wallabies

The ABs would be mad not to take the Wallabies on close in. The ruck had so much space around it you could have driven a truck through it. If Deans doesnt address that at training this week we will be hammered.

Stunning Wallabies win finally breaks hoodoo

Gee even after being down a man for the last 10 and coming from behind? First win at altitude in 40 years, penalty after the siren and still not even a punch on the desk or a smile?

Robot Deans 😉

Stunning Wallabies win finally breaks hoodoo

You might be underselling Cooper OJ. You only have to look at the difference with and without him with this team. It enormous and he is the only player who can play with width and at the line. His kicking game is improving all the time and was a feature last night.

Stunning Wallabies win finally breaks hoodoo

I thought Genia had an excellent match. Some great kicks off either foot, chose his options well, ran when required.

Stunning Wallabies win finally breaks hoodoo

You must not have watched QLD or Auckland play this year…

Stunning Wallabies win finally breaks hoodoo

What was the plan? You are making statements without any argument backing it up…

Stunning Wallabies win finally breaks hoodoo

It was a pretty darn good game all the same…

Stunning Wallabies win finally breaks hoodoo

I know what you mean Reds – I would also like to see Mitchell cut back inside. They had him covered most times but he continues to just sit on the touchine. I he gets it he gets tackled into touch, hence no pass from 2 Dads.
