As I said its all down to Cooper.

What moves has Deans introduced that are new to you? You must be new to the game because Rod MaQueen introduced far more moves than Deans ever has. Deans isnt known for moves, the Crusaders were not known for this.

Stunning Wallabies win finally breaks hoodoo

What was the attacking plan from Deans? Inferior? Its not like he is coaching against a rugby genius in PDV. That guy picks Fran Steyn for crying out loud…

He is selecting well…

Sorry I am off for a lie down after that comment…

Stunning Wallabies win finally breaks hoodoo

The attack is on the back of the brilliance of Cooper and Beale at the moment. Give credit to Deans for selecting them (though how you couldnt pick Cooper I’d never know).

Stunning Wallabies win finally breaks hoodoo

OK – I give him credit for playing Cooper at 5/8. Outside of him we have no structured football that wins games. I think dangerously without Cooper we will struggle to win many matches.

What do you give him credit for?

Stunning Wallabies win finally breaks hoodoo

For some reason SM that left side of the field got us into more trouble than it was worth. There were a few occasions we just didnt have the numbers and we got rucked over or nearly did.

Stunning Wallabies win finally breaks hoodoo

If he wants credit then he has to take criticism in equal spades. I would love to know about our kick off tactics. I think they are rotten. We kick deep 90% of the time. When we receive deep we also tend to run from flat footed ball. That is asking for trouble IMO. Last night there were numerous occasions we were lucky to recycle ball right on our try line. Get the ball out of there.

To me there is still plenty that Deans is not doing. I would not be giving him credit for quick throws for instance at LOs. Everyone knows thats the way to play the Boks.

The Moore sub was plain stupid.

Stunning Wallabies win finally breaks hoodoo

KPM – You maybe right about Chisholm but lets face it we have seen that beofre and we will now see him go missing/soft again. He wont change after 50 Tests IMO.

I didnt abuse Deans at all. Imagine had we lost – do you think his sub of Moore would have been mentioned? You bet your bottom dollar it would have been. Thats my point I guess. Just because we won does not mean we dont look at the performance of players and coaches.

AF was on for Mitchell who did his hammy I think during the try? It was mentioned in the telecast. DO you think the bench has the right balance? I think it is someway off.

As for their emotion – I am sorry but to win for the first time in 40 years or whatever on the HV in that fashion surely deserves some fricken animation?????

Stunning Wallabies win finally breaks hoodoo

An amazing Test match, oe of the best I have seen. It will go down as a classic.

The first half prior to Matfield was as good as I have ssen AUS play. Beale was one of the main reasons. He is playing the game at pace, his first instinct is to bring the ball back hard at the chasing defensive line and look to really chew up the yards. He needs to sort out his high ball taes but he looks brilliant at times. Another year at 15 for NSW will improve him even more. AAC had a huge match in defence, making so many big tackles. Cooper played the perfect role (besides some slight defensive errors) running brilliantly, kicking at the right times. Very mature performance I thought overall. The way he took the ball to the line for the last try was amazing. I think he attracted 4 defenders before passing to Barnes who gave the simple ball to Mitchell.

Pocock was again brilliant, everywhere. What ore can you say. He still has some defensive alignment issues (think last week and this weeks Devilliers try where he was outside the ball.). Rocky had a stormer with strong runs and plenty of tackles. McCalmna showed more grunt than Brown has all year though he will be filthy with his miss on JDV.

Some issues still to be sorted out – selections: Why did Maafu start? Why playa prop for 20mins? Just start the imrpessive Slipper, he scrums better and hits hard all day in D. Dean Mumm did sweet FA once again. Why is Simmons not getting a run. From being in the squad last week to being leap frogged by Chisholm who is NOT the answer. The back line bench replacements are still a joke. You CANNOT have 2 12s sitting on the bench. AF was playing on the wing at the end! Ridiculous. No someone anyone tell me that they would have taken Moore off this week? He was playing well, the lineout was operating beautifully and he gets dragged! Absolute stupidity and we saw the result!

The ruck defence is poor. The “post” men at either side of the ruck are standing at least a metre to far from the ruck leaving holes through the midddle (watch the Matfield try). Watching the first half you knew it was a matter of time before a break was made through there. That should be the strongest part of your defence.

Lastly what is wrong with the coaching staff? Are they robots? DO they have no emotion? Can they not inspire their troops. Anyone wondering what I am talking about? Have a look at the muted, complete lack of a response when Beale kicks the winner. My wife said “whats wrong with Deans, they just won a cracker after the bell, show some bloody emotion”. or words to that effect.

Stunning Wallabies win finally breaks hoodoo

Brilliant first half from the Wallabies.

The only concern is the ruck defence. They seem to intentionally stand 2 metres to the side of the ruck rather than right beside it. It was no surprise to see Matfield make the break through there. If they fix that up then they should be safe.

It's time Deans kicked some chairs, fired up

Australia needs a defence coach first and foremost. Despite having plenty of ball n the 3Ns so far we are leaking points like a submarine with fly wire leaks water. Get the defence right and we start winning alot more matches.

Richard Graham's Wallabies future up in the air

We cannot comment on his coaching session.

What we can comment on though and that everyone can see and have an opinion on are his team selections and hi use of the bench.

Neither of these facets during Deans tenure have been up to scratch IMO. In fact they have been quite poor.

JON and Deans have done a diserevice to the game in the country by making the RWC the be all and end all. I would rather at this stage and in this current sporting environment not win the RWC if it meant we won the Bledisloe and 3N once every 2 or 3 years. The support from those succes’s would far outweigh a one off win in a RWC on foreign soil.

Some people will deride me for that statement but I believe its closer to the truth than most would believe.

Don't worry, Wallabies will be a force next year

Have another read, I said he does tackle but defending at the back is very different to defending at 10 or 12 where players run straight at you.

As for Burgess he may be a good defender and runner but you still must have faith in your 9 to hit his target. He has never been able to do this consistently, in fact he is a horrible pass by 9 standards. AT the back end of a game needing to score points he is just as likely to cost you 20 metres with an errant pass.

A much lighter Beale is finally a Wallabies star

On this occasion they were right as was Kafer. I’d take Kafe’s match day tactical brain over Deans any day of the week.

Poor coaching not players plague Wallabies

Has Burgess suddenly learned how to pass? Barnes to tackle players that come near him but do what else? I fear they would get round in when he is exposed in all the space at the back, besides he has no experience there. The guy should go back to league 2nd grade.

A much lighter Beale is finally a Wallabies star

That would explain some of his defensive misreads on the wing during the S14 season.

He is exciting thats for sure.

Hougaard sinks the flimsy Wallabies at Pretoria

Spot on Rooster.

Sheek you are aware that these are percentages that you have listed? The number of games is less important, its the percentage that counts (if that makes sense). So Deans having to pay SA and NZ more is irrelevant when you look at it in percentage terms.

And if we want more stats then we have a worse attack and defence record under Deans.

Sheek can you find a stat where Deans is in front of someone, anyone 😉

I appreciate your theory on development and more deep seated problems however there is NO mistaking the poor selections and tactics from Deans IMO.

Poor coaching not players plague Wallabies

The forwards lost the match, no doubt. McCalman continues to look like he loves the tough stuff every time he comes on. He is one of the only ones! He needs to start at 8 (Spiro Elsom hasnt the skill to play 8). Moore should have been on early in the 2nd half. Saia was not having a good match. Deans left him on, big mistake, it didnt get better. Mumm is still there (he isnt good enought to start Tests).

Gits besides his goalkickng did bugger all. I think his kicking is now the only reason he is in the side. Personally I think we need to see AF at 12 with JOC kicking or Shepherd when he comes back. We need more strike runners. Have a look at the breaks QLD made this year. With Genia and Cooper you do not need any more playmakers. Just strike runners taking advantage of the space they create.

Deans is starting to be consistent. His use of the bench is diabolical as are his selections. How many changes will be made this week? The same under performers will continue to get picked (Mumm, Brown, Maafu, etc etc).

Hougaard sinks the flimsy Wallabies at Pretoria

From a Wallaby perspective the game was lost at the lineout. SImple. Saia had a shocker and Mumm was useless. Matfield take a bow. So again why wasnt Steven Moore used when it was obvious SF was struggling with his throws? He had a poor game all round and should have been dragged early in the second half.

Moore could have easily been the difference in the last 30mins with his experience and fresh legs bt no we dont see him at all after the blood bin. Unbelievable.

Ihope Sharpe was injured. I know he went down with an ankle but then seemed to play more and didnt look to be struggling when he walked off.

Deans in a post match interview moaned about another injury to Higginbotham. What would have happened without Simmons on the bench? He should have been there the whole time. Dean Mumm and Maafu continue to start when they are not up to Test match football.

No point having a bench if you dont use it Robbie! How daft can you be? WHy choose 2 inside centres on the bench and no cover for the back 3? WHy not use either of them?

As someone mentioned earlier AUS have 5 play makers in the backline and not nearly enough strike runners. Who’s fault is that?

Wallabies implode again at altitude

Isnt he bigger than Gits?

Selection of O'Connor damaging team dynamic

I’m surprised so many of you are getting excited about seeing McCalman and Higgers on the bench. Deans can be painfully slow to got to the bench. How many minutes has BMc played? Stuff all. The bench players need to be on at 55mins, no later. It means the players on the park can go nuts for 15 after halftime and the bech guys have to to make an impact on proceedings. I live in hope RD uses them…

Speaking of the bench whats with both BB and AF? If he has thoughts of running AF at 13 then he is a joker. Virtually no experience in such a crucial post is completely unfair and quite laughable. I’ll give Deans the benefit and say this isnt his plan. But why have both? We have cover at 10 and 12 so either BB or AF should be out. SImple.

Robbie Deans keeps faith with the Brisbane winners

I am not sure what the Australian coaching panel is doing but they sure arent doing anything that produces creativity like this – http://www.foxsports.com.au/rugby/video/0,,Forward%20Thinking%20with%20Kafe_00,00.html

Crunch time for Wallaby and Springbok coaches

Agreed, was thinking the same thing. To be expected on here though OJ.

Wait until after the SA matches. The kid has all this going on and I would imagine it isnt easy to go and play a few big tests with this stuff going.

Full steam ahead in the Cooper dash for cash

Beale has found his spot at 15. He has the time and vision as well as enough pace to make a real go of it.

Full steam ahead in the Cooper dash for cash

Barnes has been shown to be what he always was – good defender who kicks and has zero attacking flair.

Full steam ahead in the Cooper dash for cash

Gits and Barnes world class 10s? Cmon now, Toomua is better than both IMO at 10.
