I’m well involved in the off field stuff here in Scotland

The Wrap: What will the Wallabies' external season review reveal that we don’t already know?

Plenty of articles here in the UK about how it ruined the game.

Went into a fair bit of detail on the breakdown in NZ about how it needs to change. If you want to hear it you’ll hear it if not you won’t.

In reality Scotland are a Finn Russel injury away from being Italy.

I believe it was. The punishment did not fit the crime and probably the most dominant team we’ve seen of all time were harshly sanctioned for it.

How was he offside? Well he was in front of the offside line. Simple as that.

He needs to be 10m back from the lineout until the ball leaves the lineout. If you watch it he advances pretty much as soon as the ball leaves the hookers hand. He does not wait for the ball to leave the lineout. Thus he is offside.

If the officials applied the rules you might know this.

Can you link where that is referred to? I cannot find it . Thanks

He’ll be in court while his lawyer has Bill Beaumont on the stand.

Lawyer – Bill, your own team of officials deemed there to be direct contact to the head with a high level of danger, is the correct.

Bill – Yes that is correct

Lawyer – You then took my client off to give him an HIA to see if he was fit to continue?

Bill – To be honest we don’t care about preventing head injuries, we just want to look like we care.

Lawyer – I’m just adding another zero to this cheque.

Bill – Where do I sign…

Agree, and if tackle school was so effective don’t WR have a duty of care to the players and therefore should make every professional player attend? Here’s a thought have each team attend once during preseson and once during the year.

My takeaway is that the match officials were vindicated by both Cane with the guilty plea and the findings of the independent judiciary.

I’m not disagreeing with you here but what does Cane get if he pleads not guilty? Has anyone successfully challenged and won? We had Owen Farrell recently who then got done on the second go round, he had to plead not guilty as he rightfully thought his WC was at risk.

On the flipside he he pleads guilty the independant judicary are never going to find him innocent so I don’t see any vindication there.

The entire hearing would have been nothing but a check box exercise.

Well he was offside in the first instance so there is a penalty at least. Then you deal with the head contact after that

The Owen Farrell saga taught us that if you’re always illegal you do not get the benefit of mitigation, Kolisi was offside hence why he collected Savea at the point he was catching the ball.

I suspect if you said to Angus that his first born would be on the chopping block unless he pulls out of that tackle the situation would have happened exactly the same. He was completly beaten by a back cutting in at speed. Run that scenario 100 times he gets beaten every time.

The following week Porter breaks 2.04m Brodies cheek in what is deemed to be a passive tackle and only worthy of a yellow? There is not a lot that World Rugby do that makes sense.

For example one of their suggestions for rugby post covid to try and prevent covid outbreaks was changing jerseys at half time and no team huddles…

Kolisi was always illegal as he was offside, according to the Owen Farrell saga, being always illegal removes any ability to apply mitigation.

Difference with Kolisi was he had a 15m run up and Savea had no significant change of direction of height, whilst Cane’s was a red, he had a lot less time to make a decision that Kolisi

Didn’t England get four on the trot?

Weird how it was sent to judicary and they deemed it not to have met the red card threshold?

The Henshaw stretcher narrative doesn’t quite work when you refer the broken cheek bone that Brodie received in the Irish series last year does it? Based on that Porter should have received a significant ban but not even a red, even with the new rules?

Pretty sure he was dropped after his 2007 QF and wasn’t selected again in that tournament so did not referee in the semis

'Just a game, k---heads': Why world's top rugby ref has decided to give the game away

I believe his wife a kids received death threats after he refereed a game south africa lost last year.

Barnes still has final say, if at any point he started making decisions that he personally thought were wrong then hes right to retire.

World Rugby doesn’t care about head injuries. They only want to be seen to be doing something to avoid litigation in the future.

It’s not going to take the worlds best lawyer to challenge WR in the future if Kriel ends up with long term head injury.

A simple statement of “so your officials not only deemed my client took direct contact to the head your officials actively labeled it “high degree of danger” yet they allowed him to play on without carrying out an HIA putting my client at risk which had lead us here today.”

'So many s--t emotions:' Distraught Cane says he'll have to live with red card pain 'forever', Foz questions Kolisi escape

Problem with Siyas hit and the precedent that WR set when they doubled down on Owen Farrell is that when you’re always illegal you cannot get the benefit of mitigation. Siya was offside and therefore by the laws mitigation cannot be applied.

Touché

I’d love to see us move back to the ten minute half time too.

Club rugby here in Scotland often doesn’t even get 5

That’s probably the All Blacks biggest fault. The fact that they don’t milk things like other teams.

You know what. I respect that about them. I’d rather play the game that way than to lay on the ground every time there’s possible head contact.

I’m not sure if is. If there is actually a high level of danger does WR not have a duty of care to check to see if he is concussed?

He was responsible for one of those cards.
