Spain 7, Matildas 0: 'Why this, why now' is the question as coach's kids destroyed

When we need our National teams to be a beacon of how good the game is we get this result. The facts are we are loosing our competitiveness at international level. Most of our players are not good enough. No more excuses.

Spain 7, Matildas 0: 'Why this, why now' is the question as coach's kids destroyed

What good does this score line do for Australian football and the Matildas brand. It just drags it down further. There is something seriously wrong when all our international football teams struggle to compete., U23 lost 2 zip against Saudi Arabia and 3 zip against Japan, just not good enough. It’s the FFA’s job to fix this, the results just keep getting worse.

Grem, our under 23’s lost 3 nil against Japan. That’s a bad loss in any ones language. What is going on.

Qualifying for five straight World Cups is a great achievement, but now it's time to plan for the future

Plan for the future? our under 23’s are not good enough to beat same countries that beat the Socceroos. There are clearly issues with our youth talent and development, we are off the pace in Asia and it’s the CEOs job to fix it.

So after years of technical training and tactical smarts all we can bring to the table is “kick and scratch”. South American sides can do things things as well cynical acting, but they all comfortable on the ball. But the game is not in South America which levels up the teams IMO.

Peru wary of Socceroos' fighting spirit

Garry, Great….??. You jest surely.

No one wants to say it, but what happens if the Socceroos miss the World Cup?

Well Waz, your not going to win if you can’t score. Yes Arnie has made mistakes, most coach/managers do, but when you have a squad devoid of a single stand out player those mistakes become magnified.

No one wants to say it, but what happens if the Socceroos miss the World Cup?

We have to face facts. The Socceroos at the moment are not good enough. It’s not all Arnies fault. Other countries are putting heaps of money into youth, we need to do the same , otherwise the Socceroos brand will slip to be the our least watched national team. Same with the Matildas.

Their goal was a cracker and the guy scored it really showed up Davidson’s lack of pace.

Set piece double gives Socceroos boost ahead of massive World Cup clash

As a football fan all I want for football is respect from the local media and fellow sports lovers. Unfortunately because of self interest and preservation of their position in the local sport pecking order we tend to get little respect from either and then they expect us to sit on our hands while they eulogise lyrical their insular codes.

The A-League Men grand final was not a big event, but that’s okay

Football supporters pay a lot more for their passion than AFL or NRL, but I guess that’s what the AFL and NRL want. Payback.

The A-League Men grand final was not a big event, but that’s okay

Was, Yes true, but Fox also had the A League, They had the Show with Santo and Ed in it, and Bein sports, MLS and the SFL for a while. When they lost Santo and EPL that was the beginning of the end. I have the EPL included in my Optus NBN package but I hate it that it does contribute financially to local football.

Really, surely Channels 7 and 9 would be interested. Think of the kudos of promoting women’s sport and the world game. Sorry to much sarcasm.

Young Matildas coach Leah Blayney will join esteemed company when she goes to Costa Rica

And so they should, whose televising the next men’s and women’s world cups, anyone know.

Chris, and you don’t think Labor invest in piggeries, hell Keating used to own one.

Sydney is way too lucky when it comes to public funding for football stadiums

Come to Tasmania and not one half descent rectangular stadium. We have AFL and Cricket Stadiums. And guess what the government now wants to build another AFL stadium. Can you believe that a country like Australia in this day and age is deliberately holding back a football code, that sure looks that way to me.

Bludger, UAE will be very hard to beat. They will have their tails up especially where they get are playing.

Socceroos shocker: Star midfielder Tom Rogic pulls out of World Cup qualifier

Rogic has been a great servant to the Socceroos regular injuries and flights for international duty must take a toll. Thanks Tommy you shine out like beacon, great balance and poise for a big man.

Grem, Good luck supporting the AFL Australian Team.

Socceroos shocker: Star midfielder Tom Rogic pulls out of World Cup qualifier

Agree whole heartedly. NRL and AFL can still compete within the down small sea with players of less quality, but Football mainly cannot compete in a large ocean without quality. It’s so obvious yet no one calls it.

Are you kidding. NRL is small fish in a big world ocean of sport. Why would they invest in a a sardine when true power in world sport is football.

A vision for Australia: The rugby league manifesto

Mike, you are right, but how do you get that out there when the MSM are against you. I liken the situation in this country to the banning of conservatives on Twitter. We hear plenty of stories about a bloke named Dusty in the AFL but nothing about a Nazarene or a Mcclaren in the ALeague. MSN know that if you deny sports the oxygen of media coverage then that sport will be forever diminished. And that is what is happening in this country now. Why the hell FFA aren’t complaining about this censorship is beyond me, but perhaps that also is not being published. I thank channel 10 and Paramount for what they are doing for the sport the rest are sticking to the script from the 1960’s where wog ball was the cry.

The A-Leagues must capitalise on the sort of drama only football can provide

Brainstrust, yep, here we go again. If you want mediocracy then fine keep going as we are. I don’t want to be mediocar, I want our teams to win in Asia. And we are no where near having the quality players to do that. I note Sydney were beaten 3 nil last night. People are turning off football because of our lack of success. We are becoming the laughing stock of Aussie sport. And what is more disappointing is the FFA’s inaction on selling the game and youth development.

The A-League's problem is money. Here's how to fix it without fans spending

Stonzo what WSW demonstrate is how winning and a good CEO can lead to bums on seats. Initially WSW had both, good winning team and a good leader in Lyall Gorman. So I think the FFA should do it’s upmost to make the league more competitive and that means giving teams like Newcastle and Central priority to talent then so be it. At least for a while until that’s regain enough self sustaining organic growth. People are not going to come along pay their money to see their teams loose.
