The crusaders haven’t lost a finals game since what, 2016? Even with the players they’ve lost they will still be extremely tough in knock out footy.

The Crusaders dynasty looks dead - so how will it impact the All Blacks?

2 points Paul – firstly I think agree with you that it’s a shame NZ don’t get longer series, but given they won the WTC 3 years ago it’s a bit hard to argue that not playing a long series since 1999 has hurt their development. Trying to argue that they are simultaneously a very good team who deserve longer series and that the team is underdeveloped because they only play shorter series is a bit hard to swallow. Second it’s a real shame that Australia and New Zealand have such an overlap in domestic seasons, with both countries understandably unwilling to give up their most attractive home matches. To me an obvious solution is a home and away series every few years – either 2 matches each, or (my preference) a five match series where the fifth match location alternates. That should also leave time for each of us to fit another home tour in.

Australia vs New Zealand Test series deserves greater fanfare than a March through autumn clash with footy codes

While I believe that RA have financially shafted the super clubs (among others, including the wallaroos) and massively overspent on Eddie and the World Cup disaster, the scale of debt (17.4 million if the Victorian government is counted in the 5.7 owed to creditors, over 19 if not – the article didn’t make this clear) makes me doubt the rebels would have been able to survive anyway – even if they had got the 1.7 million promised from RA that would have covered, at most, a tenth of the debt. There’s clearly been gross mismanagement from the rebels as well.

Leaked document says RA out to 'destroy Super Rugby' and 'turn members against each other' as Rebels' pain comes to light

Tony there’s a difference between entertaining journos at press conferences and actually marketing the game to Australians – hopefully RA have finally learnt that lesson.

COMMENT: In trading Greatest Showman for 'boring' and 'pragmatic' Sleepy Joe, RA gambling with game's future

Since July 2022 in all first class cricket Renshaw has hit 1,566 with 7 centuries in 35 innings (avg 52.2) while Bancroft has 1,731 and 6 centuries in 41 innings (avg 46.76). Bancroft has done better in the Shield, but Renshaw has done better overall.

'Best six batters in the country': Smith will open and Green returns as Bailey denies Bancroft rift over Sandpaper saga

Cummins, Hazlewood and starc all bowled well, but Pakistan’s openers are playing very defensive cricket and the bounce in this wicket looks like it’s quite hard for a tall quick to regularly threaten the stumps and force the openers to play. Morris and Green would both have the same problem, but with the benefit of hindsight the shorter Jhye Richardson could have been handy.

I’ll admit I haven’t followed Jake whites career since the Brumbies, but there must be some reason a World Cup winning coach hasn’t been able to get an international gig in the last 15 years. I don’t think he’s won anything in that time either has he? Has he kept up with modern rugby styles, particularly in the international game?

'He's up for it': Why ex-Boks World Cup-winner Jake White should be on the Wallabies coaching hit list

Like Joe Schmidt with Ireland?

RA set to sign World Rugby's HP director - and he could help land Joe Schmidt as Wallabies coach

So we offer our best and most exciting young back about a third what we will be paying Sua’ali’i, and get surprised he wants to explore other options. Nawaqanitawase probably knows that if he can crack the starting squad at the Roosters RA will double their offer to get him back, and then claim to have a big win over the NRL

Done deal: Wallabies star signs with NRL powerhouse in brutal reality check for RA at start of 'golden decade'

There were those who were excited about jones coming back (with Christy as head cheerleader) and I’ll admit that I was cautiously optimistic. It’s the boards job, however, to know better than the average mug in the stands at Leichhardt oval. The biggest issue I see is that RA doesn’t actually value sports administration experience in its board or executives, and is stacked with finance professionals and old boys instead. RA shouldn’t be focused on maximising profit – they should be focused on getting as many Australians as possible to enjoy rugby, both playing and watching.

Wallabies are where the All Blacks were in 2007 - it's time to look in the mirror or risk more embarrassment

The new logo is absolute crap compared to one we’ve had for the last 20 years, which has been (IMO) the best in Australian sport – the only possible reason for changing it is that the new design is likely much easier and cheaper to plaster on merch – does that offset people like me who regularly bought stuff with the current/old logo but won’t buy anything with this new one? This isn’t even an example of marketing people running the club like the rainbow jersey (which was a huge success from a sales point of view) because any marketing professional knows that the change will be rubbish!

Meh-nly’s new generic logo is yet another example of ill-conceived marketing overruling tradition

Npc/Nrc is the New Zealand model, where union is the most popular men’s sport and there is a player base to support it – I think we should follow the Irish model, and have more games for the existing provincial sides, including plenty of games when the national squad members are unavailable. Making the existing squads a bit bigger and having more matches at that higher level has to be cheaper than creating a new tier with more sides, and would give young players more chance to develop.

Exclusive: Negotiations to lure NRL star to Wallabies fall over

Seems like a solution that would make most rugby supporter in Australia happy would be to sack the board and chairman, then centralise under a new one. Bringing back Super Rugby AU to run after the Winter international window should be a priority as well.

End game? States plotting to roll RA board after Wallabies flop

It didn’t, and I agree that he was there far too long. People often forget what a mess England were when he arrived though, and that was why I had high (initial) hopes for this World Cup.

'People smell blood': Eddie says Wallabies had to change ahead of World Cup ... even if it costs him his job

There’s no penance in there – penance would be admitting he made a mistake and taking firm steps to be better. This is just publicly saying what Eddie must have said to McLennan in private a couple of months ago – Eddie has decided to make the Wallabies a worse team now in the hope of fast tracking development and being a better team in 4 years, and McLennan has approved the strategy. Do any of the fans who use their time and money to support the team and might like us to at least have a crack this year get a say? Of course not!

'People smell blood': Eddie says Wallabies had to change ahead of World Cup ... even if it costs him his job

To be fair England hadn’t made it out of the pool at their home World Cup a few months before he started with them – while they did decline after the 2019 World Cup there is still a fair argument that he left them better than he found them.

'People smell blood': Eddie says Wallabies had to change ahead of World Cup ... even if it costs him his job

If he hadn’t chosen a World Cup to start his rebuild (after spending the previous 6 months shouting about how he had a plan to win it) he would have had that grace – next year all the top sides will go into a rebuild period, but at a World Cup you have to make the most of the squad that has been built over the last 4 years, not try and create your own in 4 games.

From Slippers response it sounds like everyone in camp is happily sitting around holding hands singing kumbaya while they don’t get the results. While Rennie is far too classy a bloke to comment, it’s hard not to imagine him indulging in a touch of schadenfreude

Brett I’m a Wallabies supporter, let me have my hope/delusion for at least a few more days

'It's everything': The craziness and stupidity that must be addressed if Eddie is to be proven right

Brett if you look at the wallabies spring tour side last year they were hardly worldbeaters, but they were probably better than Wales, Fiji and Argentina, with England on a rapid decline – that’s all we need to be to make the semis. I still think we are the best team in our pool, but we definitely have a slip up in us with such a young squad, and Argentina (who i would also say should expect to make the semis) would be favourites in a quarter final, which is why I’m less hopeful than I was.
