If he’s innocent, it will be proven and he will not have lost anything and I don’t think they code loses too much credibility in the general public in trying to do what’s right

What planet are you living on? He’s already lost the first six rounds of the NRL season, the likelihood of representing NSW in State of Origin, and his image; because even when he’s found innocent, he’s still been tarred with this brush. On top of that, he hasn’t even been afforded the common human decency of having the court of law finding him guilty before being punished. The NRL have lost a lot of respect with the disgraceful way they’ve handled the JDB issue.

Then in your next paragraph; in the very first sentence, you give us these words of wisdom: “In no way am I defending NRLHQ”… Yet you spent your entire first paragraph doing exactly that.

'It's Mabo. It's the vibe': The NRL's Federal Court defence

So IF can’t express his religious beliefs on his social media accounts because some people – that can’t stand his indifference to themselves – are on his social media accounts.

I touched a few electric fenches as a child; they hurt. Guess what I did next? I stopped touching them…

If your immediate family is a homosexual, and incapable of accepting others opinions; why on earth is he on IF Instagram? Why aren’t his family members reassuring him that hell doesn’t exist? Why aren’t his family members that IF is perhaps a little loony? Why are they not telling a grown man to take the moral high ground?

Is it because it’s easier to have a temper tantrum these days, because we live in such a self-absorbed society?

We now live in a society where rather than building a person up; it’s just easier to bring others down.

Izzy, you're a complete...

If he’s signed a policy that breaches his rights; it isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.

The most appropriate punishment would be a fine for wearing his jerseys on the same Instagram page. Yet RA are willing (for sake of $$$) to try illegally sack the guy.

The best way of moving forward is to back IFs right to say whatever he likes about his religion on his social media accounts, that no-one is forced to read. Time to grow up for some.

Izzy, you're a complete...

Wrong. There were no clauses put in his contract.

The Israel that I know, that I see every day when I’ve been in Wallabies environments and camps — he’s a lovely guy,” Genia said.

He also said that be doesn’t agree with what Folau has said; however, he didn’t once say he “doesn’t”, or “wouldn’t” want to play with IF. That’s you deliberately misconstrueding what Genia said.

Wrong. That’s why it wasn’t in his contract… No other workplace would’ve shown him the door; and when RA are sued, you might understand why.

Izzy, you're a complete...

Ahh, I see what you did there…

Hey, I’m a Matt Lodge fan. Is it ok if I say that; or do I have to keep that private because there are some people that believe I should be punished for that?

Pfft! What would professors of law know!

The code of conduct that has religious beliefs under the same umbrella as sexual preference? Stop… Think…

If RA were to sack IF for breaching their code of conduct, by quoting something – trivial to most – from the bible; which is actually his right, legally. Then they would not only be breaking workplace law; they would also be showing massive hypocrisy.

Izzy, you're a complete...

“but if it’s in their contracts”

There’s nothing in his contract stating he cannot air his religious beliefs on his own social media accounts, because that wouldn’t be legally binding.

Do any of you people actually understand that simply because he’s a professional athlete; that doesn’t mean he losses the same rights that you and I have.

He quoted something from the bible. Something that wasn’t hete/a call for violence. So yes, they’re trying to punish him for expressing his religious beliefs.

It’s sad. Obviously the SANZAAR have tried to broaden their horizons, and it hasn’t worked. On the business side of things, 7 wins from 50 starts isn’t very promising.

Classic straw man argument.

If IF came out preaching that slavery (a physical act of holding a human being against their will, to engage in physical labor for free) he’d be arrested for hate speech. IF said that pretty much every human being will go to a bad place created in his imagination if they don’t follow god after they die, because that’s the only time we can go these places; after we die…

See the difference?

Finally, a point I agree with the naysayers on. Correct, he shouldn’t have pictures of himself in uniform; on his page that is accompanied with values that don’t represent his team/s as a whole. Agreed!

However, in almost every jurisdiction in the civilized world; the punishment must be a close fit to the crime. Sacking IF for expressing his religious beliefs (his right as an individual) while wearing his teams uniform is not a case of punishment fitting the crime. It’s disgusting.

Izzy, you're a complete...

Yes, there can be consequences for what you say. But as long as them consequences are not legally binding (ie – firing someone for excercising their legal right to openly follow their religion) it’s not right.

I agree with what your saying here; but disagree with your sentiment. Can you please put up details of where you work, so I can put in a formal complaint to your employer, in the hope that you lose your livelihood because your opinion on something differs to mine?

So, what I’ve picked up of late is that definitions of words count for little, as long as there’s people looking to take offense to anything that’s said or done – no matter how trivial – as long as it differs to their beliefs.

“Private” comes in a range of degrees; as in how private you want your account to be.

If it’s coming up as a “suggested account”, no-one is standing by your side forcing you to look at his account. You’re the one making that decision.

The NRL has allowed worse than Folau to play

Rugby AU’s policy on inclusion is simple: Rugby has and must continue to be a sport
where players, officials, volunteers, supporters and administrators have the right and
freedom to participate regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race or religion and
without fear of exclusion
.

Just a bit of an update of how RAs “inclusion” policy is currently being played out.

They asked him in person to forfeit his rights to freedom of religion and speech. If putting that in writing – in a contract – is illegal; then sacking him for not forfeiting his rights to freedom of religion and speech is illegal.

There is no exclusive way to show “love”. “Numpties”… Yep, ok. I think you’ll find RA are indeed the ones dragging their own game threw the mud.

“If they lose they will also face the prospect of Folau playing with a bunch of guys that don’t want to play with him”

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Not a single player has come out and said they “don’t” want to play with IF. That question would have be asked in person, away from the media. However, it is quite telling that players have not come out saying they don’t want to play with him, considering there would no doubt be that subconscious pressure from their employer to do so…

Israel Folau to fight Rugby AU sanction

Ah yes, you’ve committed a “rookie” error there. See what I did there, ey, ey! Yet, you’ve seemingly nailed part of my view on this oh so touchy subject with a single word in your second paragraph: “Funny how every other Christian who has played rugby for Australia has managed to do so without preaching hellfire and brimstone from their Instagram account…”
