Valid points. Back when I was a reasonably keen RU fan; France beating the kiwi’s in the 1999 WC was just craziness at the time.

Perhaps he’s come to his senses now and decided to stand up for what is right.
For him to just walk away, sends the wrong message to not just the PC brigade; but also to others that have a right to air their religious beliefs without fear of persecution and punishment.

Sure, just having a contract doesn’t give you the right to selection, correct. But in the case that IF wins, and is not selected; there isn’t a high court on the planet that wouldn’t see through any bs excuses/lies as to why he wouldn’t be picked. It would come down to the balance of probability; and there’d be no grey area in this one because we have:
– the all-time Super Rugby try scorer, 3x John Eales medal winner on a $4 million contract
– a coach that’s indicated he’s unlikely likely to pick him if it’s deemed he’s entitled to express his religious
– laws that state you cannot discriminate against someone because of their religious beliefs.
It’d be a pretty straight forward case.

Know the difference between religious speech that is hate speech; and religious speech that isn’t.

Is it IFs right to change the way he see’s and deals with things; or is that another thing you won’t tolerate while standing on your self made moral high ground?
A “diverse, 2019 Australia” is a very interesting spin in the context of your article. Or is public opinion the deciding fact of what is, and what isn’t “diversity”?
Israel Folau, what the hell?
Wrong. It’s been stated already by source’s with actual knowledge of the contract that IF refused any clause restricting his expression of religious beliefs; and RA were fine with that.

At odds with the values of RA, yes. Simply because they’re different, doesn’t mean any of these values are wrong. What a society of “tolerance” we now live in.

I’m not religious at all. But I think religion has done so much more good for society than the opposite. Have a look at where society is going, now that religious beliefs are constantly ridiculed and disrespected.
If you have children; ask yourself this: would you rather your children grow up in society asit currently stands; or, or the more tolerant, decent society of 20-30 years ago?

Ahh, the sweet science. There’s something I could talk about for days on end!

No, no champ. I’m not religious at all; but I can accept that we aren’t all the same, and IF is entitled to believe whatever he likes without ridicule, punishment and name calling. That’s how mature people handle him…

So, as long as they “keep it to themselves”, it’s ok. Ah yes, “inclusiveness”.
